A coworker asked me out to go see a movie with him.
Me, having never dated before because I'm always turning people down, freaked out. He didn't just straight up ask me out on a date like "hey I want to go on a date with you so you wanna ___?" but it was kind of obvious that the movie was meant to be a date.
This chat all took place on Snapchat too, so you can see the person typing their response to you. I kept deleting and changing my response for 5 minutes to the point he opened up the chat and I saw his little icon pop up which indicated that he had the chat open and was watching me type, waiting for me to respond with yes or no.
I finally said yes. "Yes, we should totally see a movie! You wanna invite the others (our fellow coworkers) along too?"
It took him 20ish minutes to respond back with "yeah I'm sure they'd love to come with us" No emoji. No exclamation. No "lol". Nada. Just a deadpan "sure".
Am I the only one who does this? Feign innocence to avoid direct rejection? I know it's bad but I suck at rejecting people. It's much easier for me to just say "no" when asked "do you want go out with me?" But something more indirect like "want to go see a movie with me (just the 2 of us)?" is more difficult without using excuses.
