i'm seeing way too many posts about discourse in the wicked fandom and i for one am so done with it. can't we all be friends. please. gelphies need to stop saying fiyero's awful and that fiyeraba shippers are homophobic and fiyeraba shippers need to stop rubbing it in the other guys' faces that glinda and elphaba are just friends and like sisters

Just saw someone trying to turn around the infantilization of Glinda on Fiyero stans, saying that his stans infantilize him; I don't know if they were genuine or they were just taking the piss, but no.

I have the screenshot of someone who claims to be a fan of Glinda calling her a "helpless girl" as if she wasn't a grown woman; it takes nothing to find folks trying to insist she was manipulated and shit, and she was, but she's not a stupid little girl who got dupped into something she didn't understand, she wanted what Morrible was offering, she knew what the cost was, she got in deeper shit than she expected, but she can't claim she had no idea what she was getting into

Meanwhile Fiyero defenders never deny his agency in his actions, even the bad ones

the inability of people to see anything outside the binary of “good” and “bad” when analysing these movies and the characters (in particular Glinda) is truly astounding.

furthermore kinda crazy how the people who complain everyone is “making Glinda a poor helpless victim” and the people who infantalise Elphaba to the point of removing her agency from her own choices and actions are the same damn people

Another day, another person with a dogshit take on the wicked movie subreddit. I really need to block it because between the braindead “analysis” and understanding of the narrative and the use of social justice and real world parallels to justify misogyny and homophobia I end up raging so hard.

Not to mention the blatant misogyny, homophobia and racism spewed when they talk about Cynthia and Ari’s relationship and “behaviour”.

When did it happen that irl life news and politics infects fandom spaces? I sometimes look up Wicked sites and they're talking about including trump and current poltical turmoil in posts

and I'm sat here like okaaay???

but don't they have dedicated places for those sort of inflammatory and twitter toxic discussions? I come here to escape and enjoy a bit of fantasy and gelphie it doesn't mean I don't care about whats happening in the world but I don't think that fandom spaces should be welcoming irl 'discussions' like this because life is stressful enough and fandom is the one place you can escape to.
