Oh jesus! Your korea story has given me horrible flashbacks! I was an English teacher in a hagwon (also with kindergarteners and CCTV but the bosses were a married couple that despised each other), and my bosses didn’t tell the landlord I’d moved in, so the guy walked in while I was sleeping! It all worked out though, they fired me for being a lesbian and sent me to Japan.

This is insane!! it sounds exactly like what happened to a mate of mine  including the landlord randomly walking in at night. Except when they found out he was gay they just asked him to pretend to have a gf to his kids and 'talk more heterosexual'

can't stop thinking about how in book 2 one-one said "fun fact, the tape car is the only car where the universe is projected on the OUTSIDE!" like that was such a casual throwaway line but it basically says the tape car is the only "real" place in the train and the rest of it, the cars, the wasteland, the train itself inside and out, is a simulation of some sort
