Okay so I saw that the Deltarune Wiki had an image up of the Spamcannon without the black bar.

And I looked at it and was like “Heh, so Spamton’s eyes were closed under that censor bar. That’s kinda funny, like, that bar is pointless, cause we won’t be able to see Spamton’s eyes either way…..” and then I realized…

We actually never see Spamton’s eyes open during his ‘Big Shot’ era. The worn-out ‘Big-Shot Autos’ poster and the official Spamton Air-Freshener also depicts Spamton with a wide grin and closed eyes.

Because that’s the default expression on all Addisons.

The only time they would have any expression but a wide-grin with closed eyes is when they’re mourning Spamton, and they have their backs turned to us so we can’t see their faces.

Now, I don’t know if it’s necessarily, like, all Addisons have their faces literally frozen in a cheery ad-selling smile and Spamton’s ability to make different expressions is just one more way he’s been Transformed into Something Different than just an ordinary Addison…

Or if Addisons are in-universe fully capable of emoting and opening their eyes, but the game choosing to never depict it on-screen with any of them, including pre-corruption Spamton, is still a deliberate artistic decision. And I guess it doesn’t truly matter at the end of the day because the thematic point is still the same with both options.

When Spamton was transformed from an ordinary Addison to what he is now, his eyes were both metaphorically and literally opened.

psst hey lynx! o/ (you can answer this privately) i'm not exactly a regular editor on the UTDR wikis but i am in the wiki sphere and know the staff there, so this is on that behalf i suppose. it occurred to me that some people still might not know about the utdr wikis moving (they've moved off fandom, btw - undertale.wiki & deltarune.wiki now) and you're a rather well known artist in the fandom who's also very reachable, so it maaay be possible for you to get a bit of word out about it?

all good if not of course! i was thinkin it could help if you just make a post about it, or include a quick sentence abt it in the next eldritchrune comic post (though that may be a bit much idk, it is just a thought), or whatever - but i don't want to be imposing here, you only have to do this if you want to |D

I hope you're okay with me just responding publicly to do so, because yes, it's important to know that the wikis have moved! I do remember changing my bookmarks for both when they did, and I'm SO glad they moved off of Fandom, because navigating those sites was just obnoxious as heck.
