Hmmmm Elizabeth Afton?
You see Elizabeth and me, we go way back. We understand each other on a fundamental level. I gave her life. I gave her character depth. She is mine. Everything I have ever said about her is fact. Everyone else is wrong. Only listen to me.

"Where's Eddie" he was the narrative personification of the inherent innocence of humanity (which is why I hate Evil!Monty.
Cold War is based around a broken, betrayed, experimented on protagonist with trust issues and amnesia, inside a sub-series started with a protagonist that was sold, experimented on, betrayed in two different ways, and amnesiac. With the other two protags either having notable daddy issues or a complete mental break while dying.
It seems there's a bit of a narrative flow there. Who'd work better in a story like that: the personification of innocence, or the betrayed, experimented on, neglected, manipulated with traumatic repressed memories?
Sam doesn't just work as a protagonist, she works as a Black Ops protagonist narratively.
Don't please do get me started on how she fits in other ways
