as far as were aware, you have to be born with powers. Cuz how the fuck does will and Vecna have that fuckass thing betjwjjdjaud WHATEVER

This theory will either be proven Right or wrong and either way it’s fine I’m just tryina connect the dots until we have it for reals.

Will had powers forever but they were never like, yk, like eleven, he didn’t go to the lab, he never learned, never tried! And since we saw eleven having to practice so much to even get anything, but EMOTION, ended uphelping her. I think the reason will wasn’t faught was because Joyce had a home birth or smth because Lonnie didnt trust hospitals or smth. Just a theory.

Thanks to Venca having heavy control over his powers and it being a hive mind will, once accepting the fact he was gay and stuff whatevr Whatver flashback whatever his emotions were so strong that he was able to tap into the control Venca haz and use the powers to yk, do what he did.

BUT the reason he fell to his knees after was because his body was like “tf is happening, ahhhhhhhh”

And it’s just like. Yeah

TLDR: will was born with powers but for some reason he didn’t get caught (possibly a lower level power then the rest so it wasn’t caught?) and Thankz to Vecna control over his own powers and it being a hivemind wilk was able to tap into that control and do what he did.

i don’t want will to have powers

this may be something not everyone agrees with but honestly i don’t want will to have powers. first of all this is a really basic reason but i wanna see will use a gun nancy style since we know he can and i don’t want him to have to just use his powers to defend himself and others.

the second reason is because. this boy is already traumatized enough. we’ve seen how much trauma el has because of her powers and she has this constant responsibility to defend others and she can never be a “normal” kid. she feels like a monster and will already feels like a mistake. the world of stranger things isn’t the type of universe where powers are meant to happen like in other fictional worlds. in the story the people with powers come from a lab where they went through really horrible things to develop their powers. none of it is natural and in a perfect outcome, nobody would have powers. will having powers wouldn’t be a good thing for the universe basically.

the third reason is that i personally think that will having powers is such a cheap way of solving the plot. a big criticism of st is that the resolution of each season is very predictable because it’s always “oh actually el is even more powerful this time and managed to stop the big evil and had help from her friends” and will having powers would just add to this and make the end of the series seem a bit unsatisfying.

i do like the idea of will having powers in the more intellectual way, like he can see in vecna’s mind or something like in s2, and if he does end up having more physical powers then it shouldn’t be something that’s shown as a good thing, and be taken away from him (and hopefully el) once everything is over.

I think it would be really cool if will got possessed by the mind flayer again, but this time he fought back, put the mind flayer under his own control and used it as a way to help, using the influence of the mind flayer to help, be the kind of spy Mike said he would be in season 2 :)

Ok HC that instead of the shitty Will plot line in season 3, he has clairvoyance and can tell what the mind flayer is gonna do when he feels him near 👀👀👀👀

OH imagine if he as doing the Neck Thing in order to hide it from the group, but he was really just Accessing Now Memories with full vision while he’s sitting there with his friends. OH now i’m thinking of that scene where they’re all yelling about El using her powers too much (which was valid we love concerned friends) but IMAGINE will sitting there, with his clairvoyance powers just. dead silent. his power isn’t controlled, isn’t able to be controlled... can they still be worried about him or is he a lost cause-- just something useful...

i was thinking about will gradually gaining his powers since season 1, but wasn’t able to use them until season 5 and he uses them to defeat vecna (with el??) at the end 🤭
