Not a fan of how Will and Kate use their kids' school breaks to not work. Mostly because it implies that their meager engagements are full-day commitments. They're not spending two weeks in a different continent like Sophie and they're not like Anne where they're actually doing a 9 - 5 style day of multiple engagements. They show up for maybe three hours at most and then they go home. There are millions of parents around the world who cannot afford to take time off when their kids have a school break, so the media painting as relateable is pretty flimsy.

And, I'm going to be honest, it's not like a few days of them not doing anything is uncharacteristic. They really don't need to blame it on the half-term, they could just say nothing and no one would really care.

Karmi and her family! :D

Now, we don’t know if we’ll see Karmi’s family at all in the series (considering she’s a recurring character and we have yet to see the nerd-gang-minus-Fred’s families), but @bigherosixfeels and I made OCs for her family and here they are!

Now for those who followed me for the past year, you should all know Nora by now; Karmi’s sweet, adorable and innocent little sister who also idolizes Big Hero 6. It’s been a while I drew her, and when I see at my old drawings of her, I can’t believe one year makes a difference in art skills.

For her parents, here’s Zara and William (“Bill” for short). I personally HC Karmi as biracial like Hiro, so William is Caucasian, and Zara is South Asian (judging by Karmi’s skin color). 

Personality-wise, here’s a description of her parents:

William is a kind, mature and understanding man, who is devoted to his family and knows how to crack some good ol’ Dad Jokes™ . When something is wrong, Karmi always goes to her father because she knows he’s good advice (and she’s always been a daddy’s girl since forever). William is also a huge dork that constantly cries over how fast his baby girl Karmi is growing up (and like Chief Cruz, he takes 100 pics when Karmi is all dressed up, like when she went to Liv Amara’s gala). 

Zara, for herself, is the one who gave Karmi the stubbornness, quick temper and conclusion-jumping. She’s a workaholic who’s constantly stressed due to work and trying to provide for her family. Since Karmi is going through her “rebel adolescent” phase, she and her mom do not always see eye to eye and it can cause conflicts between them. Karmi is disappointed her mother is always at work and feels like she’s too hard on her. But Zara is actually the “tough love” kind of parent, she wants her daughter to work hard for her dreams, since she knows how tough life can be. She’s actually very proud of Karmi and a Mama Bear when it comes to her (considering all the bullying she went through as a child).

Fun fact: Just like her daughter, Zara was a tsundere, since she initially hated William's guts when they first met, and William liked to tease her because he found her cute whens she snapped at him. Everytime Karmi complains about Hiro, her parents bet about how many times it takes when they start dating (since it’s all so familiar to them).

TO the British Royal Family, he’s part of the antique furniture. Wherever they go, he’s there — front and centre of the press pack — looking through his lens.

From Sydney to Yugoslavia, veteran photographer Arthur Edwards has followed royals around for forty years. And they seem to like it.

So it’s no surprise he will be primed and in position for the first Aussie tour for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with nine-month-old son George.

With an almost 60-strong travelling press pack in tow — and that’s just the British media — competition for the best shots of the young royal family and baby George is fierce.

“That’s the massive interest this couple are. They’re a kind of Brad and Angelina of the royals. They’re on the magic tour at the moment and now they’ve got a baby that adds more to it,” he said.

But after capturing more than 200 royal tours across 120 countries, Edwards can — on advice from Prince William — ‘take it easy’.

“It’s difficult for me to answer but yes, they do (recognise me),” he said.

“I was with William at a job with the Queen last Friday in Windsor and he asked ‘are you coming to Australia and New Zealand?’ I said ‘yes’ and he said ‘right get plenty of rest because you’re going to work hard’. He said ‘just take it easy’.

“He was very concerned in fact when we were in Solomon Islands two years ago. He said ‘Arthur, I’m not going to let you retire. Even when you’re in a wheelchair we’re going to get have you brought to the front of the press pack and we’re only going to look at you’.”

Photographers already jostle for position next to the old-hand. “A lot of (photographers) stand next to me because they know William will always look at me.”

Edwards — who among photographers, is considered royalty himself — is as cool as a cucumber sandwich on his 21st royal tour to Australia.

“It’s always difficult on the first day. Everybody wants everything and everybody’s desperate to get as much as they can because it is the most important day. After a while it settles down and things get a bit easier. By the time we get to Australia we’ll be in relax-mode,” he said.

This tour is a garden party compared to his recent trip to India and Sri Lanka with the Prince of Wales.

“It’s exhausting, especially with the Prince of Wales. With him we never stop. We don’t even stop for lunch with him because he just doesn’t eat lunch. You’d do five or six jobs a day with him and keep going,” he said.

“On this trip William is doing two or three, or maybe splitting them with Kate. Now they’ve got the baby that’s the priority. They want to spend time with George. They’re going to do some engagements but they’ve cut the nights they’re away. Most of the time they’re going to try to be with Georgie boy.”

Edwards has worked for The Sun in the UK since 1977. He’s photographed seven royal weddings, four funerals and six royal births.

“This particular tour is difficult because there are so many travelling media … because there’s massive interest and not only from Britain but from the United States as well,” he said.

“This couple are now sort of world megastars and everybody wants to see stuff about them.”

But it’s not just George attracting attention.

“I think it’s a bit of both George and Kate,” he said.

“I think she looks a million dollars and she knows it. There’s a lot of thought and money that goes into these beautiful clothes she wears.”

“She looks great in jeans and a T-shirt but when she puts on these glamorous clothes she looks fantastic.

But the 73-year-old said it was their appeal as a family that had won public support.

“I think they’re just popular because of who they are. He’s the grandson of the Queen. He’s quite a handsome looking guy. His wife’s gorgeous looking. People see that and think ‘they look like a really nice couple’. He’s hopelessly in love with her and I think she is with him. I think people see a lovely family which is something everyone aspires to and they seem to have it.

“William is such a really nice guy. I’ve known him since he was born and the day he came out of hospital in his mother’s arms and I’ve watched him grow up and turn into a really fine young man. He’s got this amazing dedication to duty and doing the right thing. He has a strong sense of duty and a great sense of humour.”

Kate has blossomed since assuming the role of Duchess of Cambridge when she married Prince William in April 2011.

“Kate is very confident now. She’s learnt a lot from William. I remember that first tour, he was all the time saying ‘are you OK? do you feel comfortable with this? do you feel all right about that?’. He steered her through those early days,” Edwards said.

“I remember asking her once when we were in Copenhagen how she was coping and she said ‘I just want to support him. I don’t want to let him down’. But it’s beyond that now. They’re now a team and work as a team.”

As a team, the couple seems to have single-handedly weakened support, which is at a 20-year low, for an Australian republic.

Their Royal Highnesses will arrive in Sydney next Wednesday.

But despite Kate’s style and George’s chubby cheeks, it’s William’s 65-year-old father who Edwards remains most fond of since his first royal tour to Yugoslavia in 1977.

“Prince Charles is my favourite royal by far, by a million miles. He’s a fantastic man. He’s just brilliant,” he said.

“His work for young people is unsurpassed and he raises over 100 million pounds a year through his charitable work. For him, the only point in being the Prince of Wales is to do charity work.

“He works tirelessly for our country and the underprivileged, especially young people. The work he does is unbelievable and his energy in incredible. He works all night. Camilla goes into his office at 2am and he’s asleep slumped over the desk. He writes all of his own speeches.”

A Reflection

“It’s alright, Wil. Just forget it happened, and we will recreate the tape again. I won’t let our project fall. Not when we’ve sacrificed years for this” Dark lightly patted Wilford’s shoulder in a way of comfort, letting the frustrated man calm a little. “Well, you know, accidents happen and whatnot” Wilford grumbled. “But they’re always so messy and stain the carpet so red, and then we have to find another actor again !” his tone was exasperated as his movements were. “No need to be so tense, Will. Things will piece themselves together in the end” Dark kept walking, even when Wilford had stopped. “Well, I guess you’re right” his exaggerated shrug almost knocked a painting off the wall. “Just gotta, strap on the big boy pants and keep going !” His finger waved aimlessly in the air as he turned and walked away, finally leaving the demon alone to recollect, probably to stress over grooming his mustache. “Thing’s are getting so troublesome…” Dark sighed, pushing open the door to his office, rubbing his temples and eyes closed as he shut the door with the base of his cane. With the projects chancing on failure and success, he couldn’t rest. He needed to make sure everything was set in motion and nothing failed. With Wilford going more and more chaotic and their ‘misunderstandings’ rising, he needed to ensure that these little ‘accidents’ happened no more than they already have. But for now, he didn’t want to think of those anymore. He wanted to take time to rethink how to move next. But when he opened his eyes, his shoulder’s tensed up even more. The cream walls came into view, unlike the usual dark blue ones he remembered. The white marble floor, spotted with diamonds between the tiles and the rustic antiques, long hallways and the balcony of the second floor peeking from the top made him pause. He didn’t look at the black, shiny table. He just turned away. He must have entered the wrong room. Yes, this must be the only explanation. Yet, when he turned, instead of the door came the view of a mirror, his grey skin and red blue static finely present over the broken glass. The mahogany door in the reflection, however, was open. The static still remained, and he fixed his tie slightly in the reflection, determined not to let this undermine his composure, taking a step back so he was not so close to the table that connected to the wall. When he glanced down at it, he could take note of his own reflection, but it shimmered. He furrowed his brows. “Very strange…” he muttered. When he looked up to investigate forward, his frown deepened The static was ever present as yesterday was, but it slowly seemed to fill the room, dripping through the crevices. And for a moment, he thought the reflection changed. “Has it been so long that the mirror became this dirty ?” His tone was uncaring, and he made a point to prove it, leaning forward and wiping it with the length of his black sleeve. But when he pulled away, his reflection had changed. His grey skin gained colour, the clothes twisted and turned and his usual black slick hair grew and changed, as did almost everything else. And out of the distortion of colours, he recognised you. You, still wearing the clothes you died with, the blood still dripping down the wound you were revived with, your eyes still wide and filled with the same emotions you experienced that day when he pushed you out so hard it cracked the mirror. When he had promised and broken what could have been yours. “I thought i’d never see you again, Damien…” This time, he could not help but take several steps back, covering up his started posture by fixing the cuffs on his wrists. He refused to look at you, staring down as if in thought. “…I suppose it’s been a while” he muttered, as if to prove he was unshaken. “A while ?” Your voice shook with an anger you could barely contain as he simply ignored it, focusing on the dirtied marble. He could still see a little red there, and the small crack where your head had hit when you fell from that balcony. “It’s…been years, Damien” The sudden change of tone from anger to exhaustion confused him, and he forced himself to glance at you to keep his composure. You didn’t look aged a day, but the tired look on your face and the slight yearn for anywhere but here reminded him it had been more than just ‘a while.’ It had been years indeed. “So it has” “You’ve gotten colder” You murmured, looking at his composure. Stiff, firm, grey. He was so formal that you could barely call him Damien anymore. “Darker” he glanced at you with annoyance and you could only smile slightly. You were not here to play with dice. It had taken years for this. “Careful observation as usual. If perhaps, you had been more so this way, you could have been more help…” he glanced at the floors of and the walls, then back at you. “Here” he frowned. “Back when it was actually needed” He could see the anger that flashed in your eyes, before it was gone in a matter of seconds. Neither of you were willing to be weak, not even when it mattered. Begging would be no help here for either of you. “Like you were such a big help” you couldn’t help but show that anger again, gritting your teeth. “How did it feel to be trapped in Limbo for so ‘long’, Mayor ?” His eyes darkened slightly. “What made you so desperate that you had to push me out ?” He turned away, deciding to ignore you as you would only taunt him, but when he did, he saw the same things again. A pristine mirror hung on the wall, and the black table that held nothing but memories he would rather forget. The same cream walls, the same manor and everywhere he turned, he could see the same walls and the same reflection. Only now, those mirrors were not broken, and his reflection had become yours. Everywhere he looked, he could not escape your gaze and that flaming betrayal and anger in your eyes. Because you couldn’t stand it anymore. You had spent years being ignored and you didn’t care if it exhausted all of you to make sure he finally listened and saw you. “No more running” your voice came from all of those mirrors. There was no escape. “No more pretending” your smile came mocking and it seemed like you felt as if you finally won some of his time. “Or are you going to ignore me as William did to you ?” “You don’t get to talk about William that way !” His voice suddenly crackled with anger and you could see a bit of his shell crack, his anger rising over the sea of static that filled the room. William was all he had left of that life, and he would not stand to hear it repeated so mockingly from a person who had broken him. As if realising his mistake, he took a few more steps back to fix his hair, which had come undone when he yelled, glancing sideways as if to cover up his outburst, but all he could see was your taunting smile. “Yes, because the last time we talked about him, you left me trapped in here” Your tone was accusing and that sharp edge you had created in your fit of anger stayed just as deadly. “It was your choice. Your decision to trust me. It’s not my fault if things ended this way” He darted his eyes away from one of your reflections again and you couldn’t help but tear away the font that had been so useless to you up to now. “How is it not your fault ?!” Your voice rang with the static and it increased so much more than the tone that Dark was equipped to hear. It seized him, it crawled over his skin and it annoyed him to no ends because it reminded him so much more of that darkened void that he was buried in for days. Screaming, until the static was so loud he could scream no longer. “Be quiet” He muttered, rubbing his temples, as if out of annoyance, when it felt like so much more. “You were the one who manipulated me into giving you my freedom ! You trapped me here, within these glass walls, and then what ? To watch over these walls ? To watch the same, empty halls for years and never be able to leave, to, to do anything but hope that you’d come back and let me out !” You yelled, anger mixing into the room and your tears beginning to brim, because you’ve been in here so long that sometimes, you forget how the sky looks. The only time’s you’ve ever been able to see anything but the decaying paint of the once pristine manor was when Dark’s reflection showed. And he did quite well making sure that never happened. “You believe that I wanted this result ? That I wanted all my friends dead or living in insanity ?! Where everything should have been fine, but it just isn’t !” His exaggerated posture, throwing his hands as he spoke reflected the anger that contrasted the anger you saw that day when he argued with William. When his anger turned from a type that was once caring, which now was filled with pent up rage. “Then why…? You spoke, and your voice trembled with a tone that you’ve once used to beg him to look at you when he once passed a mirror. Abandoned, desperate, pleading.  “Why am I here ?”

I know it’s early days in the season and we still have a lot to uncover, but after sleeping on it I’m very angry that Chris Carter and Co. have decided to go this way if it’s true. The only concrete thing we Shippers’s had going out of the Series ending was Mulder and Scully’s relationship had borne a child. They of course had a rich history and it was all worth it, but a child together made up a bit for the fact we were toyed with for nine seasons. Now they’re pulling the rug out from beneath us by saying CSM is William’s father? That is unacceptable. It’s good for shock value, but it leaves me with a cold, empty feeling.
