#25 answered here! #18, what's a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire? CORDELIA!!! OUUUUGH Cangel my cangel! Cordelia! I really like Angel's dynamic with Cordelia. A lot of the crux of it is that they just Like each other so much. They adore each other, they're each other's most important person, they are a matching set. They're best friends and they really like each other and they are Weird about each other. I really think that Cordelia understands Angel the best out of anyone in the show, and I think that Cordelia just means the world to Angel. Really closely intertwined. Really awesome.

Ask game, Angel 21 and 25

#21, If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like? Hhhhhhrm. My favorite thing to do with Angel, fic writing wise, is really hone in on Angel's weird little mannerisms and the awkwardness. He's a strange fella. He is Not Cool Most Of The Time. Overdoing it can get irritating or repetitive, but I just really think that people can sometimes forget how Weird and Odd this fella can be. I also just really enjoy getting into the layers of Acts Angel does. What he chooses to show to people, who gets to see what, what he hides from himself, what he's even aware of about himself. There's a lot to get into and a lot to get into with this character in regards to identity. There's just so much to sink your teeth in and I really like getting into the muck of it. #the actor #the represserrrr #25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now? Honestly? Didn't like Angel at all. I thought he was annoying, and that the show was trying too hard to try to convince me he was cool (pre season 2), and I didn't buy his relationship with Buffy. Then, Angel turned evil halfway through season 2, and I fell a little bit in love with Angelus, and then I got very interested in the character as a whole somewhere around I Only Have Eyes For You. Then I got to talking with someone who was a big fan of the character, which fanned all the flames, and And now I have 2.5 longterm major AUs (Oathverse, Unholyverse, and the Champverse which doesn't count as a full longterm thing because it's more of something me and Xaeyrnofnbe frequently think about rather than write out for the most part so far) I'm writing out with friends involving this character (and an important oc), a year's worth of Angel and the buffyverse as a whole as special interests, several comic books, a ton of unposted art in my drafts, and I think somewhere around 14 different scattered concepts of alternate universe versions of this character, and at least 9 commissioned art pieces somehow involving this goddamned vampire. I Am Fucking Unwell About Her!!!!!!! Good god!!!!

Spike Without A Soul: does nice things for humans in spite of himself, only pretends to want recognition or reward, other demons openly wonder what the fuck is wrong with him, hates it when Buffy cries

To be honest Angel and Buffy is not really my favorite ship because personally I can't get behind the reason why Buffy's feelings towards Angel were that strong, but the tragedy of it all really got me. I feel Buffy will always carry Angel within her and she will never love anyone with the same innocence, fiery passion and tenderness that she loved Angel with.

Nan mais, je ne sais pas si je m’y fais, mais vraiment au début de la série Angel, il est tellement mal à l’aise avec les gens, c’est… ben en fait, je suis mal à l’aise devant mon écran😅 Que ce soit quand il fait sembler d’être un joyeux ivre en 1x01 (ce qu’il fait très bien, mais ce n’est pas lui) ou 1x02 sociabiliser dans un bar pour trouver quelqu'un en détresse c’est… une épreuve. Après, quand il s’agit de parler d’une affaire, là il gère beaucoup mieux. En tout cas, je ne suis pas mal en le regardant 😂

Et puis Cordelia avec sa franchise mêlée a un peu d’égoïsme 😆 Je n’arrive pas à la décrire, un terme ne suffit pas. On peut la traiter de nombriliste. Elle peut être très égoïste à penser autant à elle et l’impact que des évènements ont sur sa vie à elle, même si c’est la fin du monde. À plusieurs reprises elle m’a énervée à dire qu’il n’y en a que pour Buffy alors qu’elle se bat pour éviter la fin du monde ou à ne penser qu’à elle. Après… dans la vraie vie, les gens ne se bougent pas beaucoup si ça ne les impactent pas eux alors… Mais en même temps, elle peut être perspicace et, même dans la série Buffy, elle a toujours participé aux recherches, se mettant parfois en danger. À Los Angeles, plutôt que de tenter de fuir le monde surnaturel, le danger et les trucs… dégoutants, elle replonge dedans volontairement. Je ne peux pas dire qu’elle est superficielle, mais dire qu’elle ne l’est pas serait faux à ce stade. Elle est complexe, maladroite, avec un bon fond.

Mais le mix entre une Cordelia franche qui ne se soucie pas de blesser et Angel, solitaire, qui ne sait pas comment parler c’est… une dynamique incroyable. Et au milieu, Doyle 😊. N’empêche Cordelia qui sort à Angel :

Parce qu’il y a une bonne centaine d’années, la seule chose dont tu devais avoir peur c'était la gueule de bois. Mais aujourd’hui avec ta malédiction, tu peux faire l’amour avec personne. Sinon tu risques de vivre un instant de bonheur, de perdre ton âme et redevenir mauvais comme avant. Et tuer tout le monde.

On fait ce qu’on peut. J’ai pas du tout envie d’arriver au bureau un matin et de découvrir que je bosse pour un monstre criminel.

Honestly, I don't know if I'll ever get used to it, but at the start of the series Angel, he is so awkward around people... well, I actually feel awkward just watching him on screen 😅 Whether he's pretending to be a happy drunk in 1x01 (which he does surprisingly well, but it's just not him) or trying to socialize in a bar to find someone in distress in 1x02, it's... painful to watch. Then again, when it comes to discussing a case, he handles it way better. At least I'm not cringing watching him then 😂

And then there's Cordelia, with her blunt honesty mixed with a bit of selfishness 😆 I can't even describe her with just one word. You could call her self-centered. She can be so selfish, constantly thinking about herself and how events affect her life, even when it's literally the end of the world. A few times she really annoyed me by complaining that everything is always about Buffy (while Buffy is fighting to save the world) or by only caring about herself. Then again... in real life, people rarely move a finger unless something affects them directly, so... But at the same time, she can be perceptive and, even back in Buffy, she always helped with research, sometimes putting herself in danger. In Los Angeles, instead of running away from the supernatural, the danger, and all the gross stuff... she voluntarily jumps right back in. I can't say she isn't shallow, but saying she isn't would be wrong at this stage either. She's complex, clumsy, but has a good heart.

The mix between a brutally honest Cordelia who doesn't care about hurting feelings and a solitary Angel who has no clue how to talk to people is... an incredible dynamic. And Doyle right in the middle 😊. Still, Cordelia dropping this on Angel:

I guess the single life’s particularly tough on you.

Why?

Well, a couple hundred years ago, the only thing you had to worry about was a hangover. Today, ’cause of your curse thingy, you can’t sleep with anyone, or else you might feel a moment of true happiness and lose your soul, become evil again, and kill everyone.
