Him and Her and The Ocean - A William 'Will' Turner x Reader Oneshot
The voyage to the crew's next destination was a rocky road to say the least. But, luckily, Y/N had Will and Elizabeth at her side and Jack to distract her from any worries.
It was like an escape from the reality she knew as her life.
For the third time this night, Y/N was telling a story to the kids they rescued from a shipwreck near them on the way over to the next harbor. They were scared, and missing their home, so something needed to be done to get their mind off of things.
''... and that's when the princess realized what she had to do. She grabbed the sword at her side, lunged at the monstrous creature in front of her, plunging the sword right in his chest.''
The kids in front of Y/N gasped, completely engulfed by the story. She made a knife with her hands and plunged it towards her chest, a groan escaping her lips and fell onto the deck. The kids laughed at the young woman, starting to climb on top of her.
Laughter echoed over the entire deck.
Y/N was too engulfed in the adorable kids before her, that she didn't realize someone was watching it all go down.
Jack, however, did.
He walked over to the young man and tapped his hand with his flask, ''Take a sip of rum, won't ya, laddy? It keeps your mind off of things.''
Will turned his head around to look at his captain, then down to the flask in his hand, before meeting his eyes again and shaking his head, ''No, thanks. Someone on this ship needs to stay sober.''
''We have Y/N and Elizabeth for that, aye. Here,'' Jack squirmed the bottle in Will's hand, not accepting a 'no', ''you seem to need it.''
''I don't know what you're talking about.'' Will still stared at the scene in front of him instead of his so-called 'love of his life' beside him talking to Gibbs.
Elizabeth didn't see Will's stare on her oldest friend.
''Everything aight with you and Miss,'' Jack looked at Elizabeth, who simply glared at him when she spotted him staring, shuddering in response as he turned back to the man he was talking to, ''bossy over here?''
''Elizabeth?'' Will turned to Jack.
The captain replied with the tip of his head and took a sip of alcohol, sighing in relief as if this was the only thing that could quench his thirst, ''That would be her.''
Will shrugged.
''We're fine. Why are you even asking that?''
His eyes were once more set on the children and the woman before him at the other side of the deck.
Forgetting he even denied anything, he grabbed the flask back from Jack and took a big gulp. His eyebrows scrunched together at the strong sensation in his throat that slowly made his way down in the wake of the liquid.
Jack took a sip as well, and Will found himself wondering how Jack could even drink that much without moving an inch at the strong burn he felt.
Maybe he was just already too far gone. Too much rum and you become invulnerable to it.
''Well,'' Jack leaned back against the railing, moving along with the hits of waves against the strong ship he called his home, ''I saw you staring at Y/N and thought something more was going on.''
''Between me and... Y/N?''
Jack nodded.
He seemed certain of his assumptions.
''There's nothing between,'' Will started to doubt his own words, but he played it off as a simple mistake in pronounciation, ''between me and her.''
''Could've fooled me, lad,'' Jack walked away without saying another word, assuming that Will would follow - which he did, ''that spark in your eyes would say a whole other thing than your mouth just did.''
The young man following him on his heels, surprised at the annoying captain's observance.
''I tell you, there's nothing there.''
Jack spun around, stopping dead in his tracks, which surprised Will and almost made him collide with his chest, ''Tell me, and try to be honest: Are you convincing me, or yourself?''
''...''
Will had no words for it because he know longer knew.
At the beginning of this he didn't know Y/N. He didn't know her as well as Elizabeth and the woman felt safe. Felt trusting. But now that Will got to know the young woman, he is no longer certain of anything.
Jack hummed, already knowing the answer to his own question, ''You need to make a choice, lad, and rather sooner than later.''
The captain was once again walking away, this time to his own private humble abode.
Will called after him, ''Are you giving me advice?''
The captain turned around with a grin as he realized, ''Wow, I am. Look at me go.'' He cheered for himself as he stumbled his way back to his bed - and his nightstand where another bottle of rum was stucked for security.

Y/N came back to the deck after bringing all the kids to their beds, sighing as she felt the calm wind ruffle her hair that was still braided.
She pulled the matching ribbon out of her hair, her fingers untangling the strands, one by one.
''Shouldn't you be asleep?'' The woman jumped at the voice but relaxed when she saw who it was.
''I could ask you the same, William Turner.''
The man smiled and settled beside her, the both of them staring over the dark sea unfolding before them in a comfortable silence that soothed the both of them.
Will cleared his throat after a while, ''I wanted you to know first,'' that made Y/N turn her head to him, waiting for him to continue, ''me and Elizabeth... separated.''
''Oh my,'' Y/N couldn't believe her ears, ''I'm so, so sorry. I never even noticed it wasn't going well. That's not the point. The point is,'' she placed a hand on top of his that was resting on the railing, ''are you okay?''
''Surprisingly, I think I am,'' he turned his hand around so he was holding hers, a soft smile on his face, ''for quite sometime I knew she was the one but now... now, I'm not sure of anything anymore.''
''What changed?''
The woman beside him seemed set on getting to know him, more than she already did. The thought alone made him brighten up in a heartbeat.
''Someone else made me feel the way no one ever made me feel - not even Elizabeth.''
It took some time before it dawned on her what he meant. But it was right in front of her. The only woman beside Elizabeth aboard was her.
''Will-''
''Let me finish,'' he turned fully to her, ''please.''
She stayed quiet and nodded, almost unnoticeable.
''I didn't know you. But when I did, you seemed to understand me in a way no one understood me. You made me feel seen. The only thing on my mind during the day was if you were around so we could just sit and talk, and at night I seemed to long for the next morning in the hopes I could see you in person one day. I love you, Y/N.''
The confession made her heart flutter in a way only he ever could, and a shy smile appeared on her lips.
''I'm glad to hear that. It took some time but I don't mind. Will, I love you. And, I think I always have. No - I'm sure of it. I always have loved you.''
The man grinned and pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her waist. Their bodies were in so close proximity, their breathing pushed them only closer.
Will's hand lifted up to wipe a strand from her face in a gentle and fluid motion, before leaning down and pressing his lips against hers.
She quickly responded by melting into the kiss and tilting her head.
Their lips moved in sync, the whole world standing still as if time stopped moving.
Once they pulled away for air, nothing seemed to be left but the two of them, swaying on the rhythm of the deep blue ocean beneath their feet.
''You want to go to bed?'' Will asked softly.
The woman shook her head, ''I just want this moment to last a little longer.''
He nodded, standing beside her. Will wrapped his arms back around her, folding them on top of her stomach and leaned his head on hers.
And together, they just stood there for a little longer. Just her and him and the ocean.
