ALL THIS TIME - L. HOWLETT
Being kicked out of the bar where the only source of his money was, wasn't on his bucketlist. How else was he going to make sure he was staying fed? There won't be any more fights that he will end in victorious if he's just a walking skeleton. Not that he would simply crumble from one punch. Not at all.
It just isn't a good look on his reputation.
The Almighty Wolverine.
From massively build to Jack Skellington.
Yeah, not on his watch-
Logan slammed on the brakes as a woman cames into his peripheral view. Her clothes were way too thin for the snowy weather that lingered over the entire county, and he couldn't care less, but when he was about to pass, his eyes settled on her face.
His face went pale.
It was like seeing a ghost.
His mouth opened, searching for the right words in this current situation, but nothing was sufficient enough for whatever's happening.
He slammed on the brakes another time.
But this time, he stepped out.
The blonde woman behind him was looking exactly the same way she looked when he left her behind in their shared home without a word, a letter or anything, ''Y/N...''
The woman's eyes widened in surprise. Her heart was pounding a million miles an hour. All those years she had been searching for him, all those years she longed to let her eyes rake over his body, and here he was - standing in front of him, alive and breathing.
But why couldn't she walk?
Why wasn't she able to approach him? Why did no words leave her mouth and why didn't she embrace him, hugging him in the way she had pictured it in her dreams countless times?
She was just too speechless.
Logan snapped out of his daze, breaking the silence, ''Come on. It's freezing, and I don't want you to have a cold.''
He walked up to her, his hands gently brushing her shoulders when he tugged the jacket he took off securely around her. That ought to warm her up.
His hold on her stayed as he escorted the both of them back to his vehicle. One more minute passed, and they were back on the road.
Without asking permission, Y/N rolled down the window and lifted her hand outside into the chilly air as Logan sped down the highway.
The wind weaved through her fingers like a silken caress. In the background, trees flashed by in such a high speed that it only created one blurry mess. Logan's head hadn't turned from her, a smile threatening to reveal when the memories took over the moment she wiggled her fingers in the strong grip of the air, ''What are you doing out here?''
Y/N sighed. She wasn't even bothered to turn around, just not yet, ''Oh, that's a simple question. I'm surprised you even mustered the care together,'' this time she did turn and her blue eyes held an incomprehensible amount of hostility, ''you didn't leave me the impression it bothered you at all.''
He expected the anger. He expected the violence and the passive aggresiveness he could clearly remember from the fights in the past whenever a woman tried to wrap him around her finger right under Y/N's nose. But this was more than that.
Logan could basically hear the crumble of her broken heart in his ears, almost resonating to his own. When they lived together, it was like nothing could go wrong.
He was able to go to bed watching their favorite shows cuddled together on the couch and wake up in the morning to the angel he was able to call his. But, that one single day, where her life was in danger because of him, he would never be able to withstand another occurence like that.
In his mind, there was only one solution.
Running.
If he wasn't around - if he wasn't near her in any kind of way - the target on her back would lift, disappearing into thin air, leaving her safe and sound from any harm.
It seemed like the solution at the time.
But just the sound of her broken heart made him realize he didn't completely leave her alone. He took a part of her with him. A part so vital that without her whole life crumbled into nothingness.
He cleared his throat, eyes going back to the road, ''Y/N, I'm sorry.''
A scoff escaped her throat, one so cold that it made the snowy atmosphere out the window warmer than the spot where he was seated. And he was sitting in the middle of his heater.
''How can you apologize so easily? Did I mean nothing to you?''
''It's not like that at all!''
''It wasn't,'' the question left a vile taste in her mouth, tears were brimming in her eyes, ''you sure about that? Because I clearly remember going to bed happily after a movie marathon and the next morning you were nowhere to be found. Your stuff was gone but no note. No nothing!''
''You don't get it,'' Logan shook his head, frustration bubbling up into his chest, ''you don't see the whole picture-''
''Then tell me...'' Her voice was merely a whisper, but he could still hear her. Without hesitation, her hand shot out to cover one of his the moment she realized how clenched they were.
She knew better than anyone how much pain he had to endure the minute his claws came into play.
For a second, his body froze. But the familiarity seeped in and it was like nothing had changed.
''Tell me, Logan, tell me why you left.''
Would he endanger her if he did? He closed his eyes for a second and decided to stop at the side for a second.
Y/N's brows furrowed together the minute he stopped and turned the key in the ignition. The engine turned off, alongside with the heater, leaving behind a chilly mountain air.
He grabbed her hands and looked her in the eyes, ''I'm sorry, Y/N. I understand that for you that is just the easy way out, but I really, really mean it. The last thing I wanted was to hurt you. Trust me...''
''Then why did you?''
Logan took it as a good sign when she just stayed put, not pulling her hands out of reach of his.
His heart started pounding, ''You were getting hurt with me around, Y/N. People were going after you because of the connection you had to me.''
A soft chuckle cleared the thick air. The whole conversation lightened up a bit by her reaction. However, Logan didn't expect it. He looked up meeting her eyes, this time relieved he saw the familiar sparkle.
''Logan. My love, I was always going to be a target. And I was able to handle it, because I had you,'' the girl smiled sadly, ''you and I both know that.''
''What about that night?''
Y/N frowned. She wasn't understanding what night he was talking about. But, the more she thought, the more she understood. The night he was speaking about had been on her mind repetetively. ''Some guy thought it was funny to try some breaking and entering. So what?''
Logan couldn't believe his ears, ''So what?! He hurt you. You were stuck in the hospital.''
''With minor injuries,'' Y/N interrupted before this was going to get out of hand, ''you have returned home with much worse. And none of it was as painful as realizing you up and left without a single care in the world!''
''I'm sorry, okay? It- I really thought it was the only solution. The only way to keep you out of harm's way.''
Y/N rolled her eyes. She squeezed his hands, leaning forward, ''I will be able to forgive you, if you just tell me one thing. If we start over - if we go back to where it all ended... Are you going to stay?''
His heart broke that the girl in front of him whom he loved with his entire being was doubting the love he felt for her right now. But with his past actions, she isn't surprised she needs that type of confirmation.
''I will never leave again,'' He pressed his forehead against hers, finally feeling the warmth in his heart return, ''fuck, you have no idea how lonely I was without you.''
Y/N's eyes closed, taking in the familiar sensation that warmed her heart. ''Trust me, I do know.'' The words fell out of her mouth before she realized it.
The words stunned Logan to silence. But Y/N wasn't satisfied, not yet. Her hands pulled away from his and went up to grab a hold of his face, making sure he was looking at her when she said the next thing, ''I love you, James Howlett.''
Logan felt his heart flutter, skipping a beat as the memories took over. He longed for her to appear again, for her to say those simplistic words again. And now that he has heard them, he remembered how it made him feel.
Without a second thought longer, he leaned forward and connected his lips with hers. For years, he has wandered on his own and now that he was finally reunited with the love of his life, he wasn't going to let her go.
The Barista and The Superhero (Part. II) - A Steve Rogers/Captain America Fanfic
I was left a panting mess on the floor of the gym in Tony Stark's gym. Natasha has been teaching me all kinds of fighting techniques over the last few weeks.
It was harder than I had expected, but her opinion was very helpful. My posture is clearly getting better, and my stamina is also increasing. It might not be that important to some, but when you have skills that cause other people to hunt you down like a deer, some quick running is appreciated.
Natasha placed her hands on her hips, ''Nice going, Y/N. Some finishing touches, and we can call it a day.''
''You might want to do that now.''
A voice behind me caused the both of us to turn to the person. Steve was smiling at me. ''You ready for your first lesson in controlling that magic of yours?''
''Finally,'' I chuckled, pushing myself off from the floor, flinging a glance over my shoulder at Natasha, ''rain check?''
She nodded.
Steve and I walked out of the room and met Wanda in an open field. Rocks were scattered all around us.
''What's happening?''
''I want you to explode those rocks.''
I nodded. I might be able to do that.
Wanda grinned, knowing something I didn't just yet, ''at the same time.''
My eyes widened. Somehow I needed confirmation from Steve, so I turned to him and saw him watching me intently. It appeared that they weren't kidding.
''I can barely do it with one. How will I be able to do it with,'' I counted the rocks around me, ''ten?''
Wanda shrugged. Steve and Wanda stepped aside, leaving the space to me alone. I sighed. Looked like I just needed to get this over with.
I stood in the middle, throwing my vest on the ground as I stood there, panting still from the exercise I had previously.
Wanda called out from her spot, ''First you need to control your breathing. Breathe in and out in a steady pace.''
I nodded. I took a deep breath, taking my time to breathe in and out, till my heart rate slowed down. In a matter of time I felt the energy streaming through my veins once again.
My entire body was erupting into my inner magic. My hands opened, palms pointed to the grass. But instead of making the rocks fly up, the ground was just starting to shake.
And not a little bit. A lot.
Steve nodded at Wanda, trying to let his voice reach me, ''Focus on the rocks. Nothing else matters, nothing else is there. Just you and the rocks.''
I closed my eyes tighter, trying to make my magic stream to the rocks. It was like they were connected to the ground. The shaking started to cease, before the shaking went over to the rocks.
The two teachers behind me grinned at each other, the Scarlet Witch stepping forward, ''You're doing great. Now, turn all your attention to them.''
''How?'' I shouted back, feeling my concentration crumble. Over time, a blue glow was appearing by my hands and it was flickering as my focus was shaking back and forth.
''Don't think.''
Don't think... Don't think...
I kept repeating it till everything faded into nothing. The glow around my brightened, My magic started drawing strings through the sky, circling it around the rocks.
Something within me told me I achieved all I could, and I needed to open my eyes to finish the job.
My eyes fluttered open, my pupils glowing a bright blue.
The rocks started floating, one by one, all ten eventually flying in the air in their own personal bubble of energy. The energy got bigger and bigger, causing the bubbles to get tinier and tinier. The rocks were starting to get squeezed.
You heard the cracking over the entire field. Just as they started to erupt into tiny pieces of stones, Wanda formed a shield around her and Steve, protecting them from the violent rain.
As soon as every one was broken, my energy decreased. The glow disappeared. My eyes went back to normal. But with all the exercise, my body was just defeated.
My knees went out from under me. I knew some of the rocks reached me, cutting through my skin, but I just needed to catch my breath.
Steve ran over to me, hands on my shoulders as he kneeled in front of me. ''That was amazing.''
''Thanks.'' I smiled gently.
The woman walked over as well, a proud smile on her face, ''She's stronger than you described to me, Steve. Quite a catch.''
My heart warmed at the compliment. It meant a lot coming from someone as strong as her. Steve wrapped his arms around me, lifting me up. Still tired, I couldn't help but stumble into his chest.
He tightened his hold on me. ''Did we ask too much from her?''
The question wasn't directed to me, luckily.
Wanda showed a reassuring glance, ''No, she's just not used to using that much magic at once. It takes time to master that control.''
Steve nodded, ''I'll bring her back.'' The woman said goodbye, going on her own merry way.
As we were walking over the field together, me wrapped into Steve's embrace, I almost didn't feel the vibration of my phone in my pocket.
I reached for it, accepting the call when I saw Teagan's smile on my phone screen. I put it to my ear, ''Hey, Teagie, how are you? I got so much to tell you-''
''That might have to wait, Y/N.'' The male voice on the other end of the line wasn't Teagan, that much was sure. Everything within my body was alerted, freezing me on the spot, catching Steve off-guard.
''Who are you? Where's Teagan?''
''Don't worry, your little friend is safe for now. As long as you obey my commands and do what you're needed to do, I might rethink killing her. ''
I growled, ''You sick bastard...''
''Spare me the insults,'' he spat out coldly, ''nothing you say hurts me. You're just meant to serve as our puppet.''
''I'm nobody's puppet.''
''We know. But, something within says me you might reconsider that when you hear it from Teagan. Oh, Teagie, won't you talk to your friend?'' The phone switched and static came over.
I was waiting for her voice to come over.
Not a fiber of my being was going to trust him or his words until I knew Teagan was alive.
''... Y/N?''
''Teagan, thank God.''
A sob came out of her mouth, ''I'm scared.''
''It's fine. I'll be there before you know it. Where are you? What happened?''
''I was just,'' a voice crack stopped her before continuing, ''I was just closing off as my shift ended and these men questioned me about you. Please, Y/N, help me.''
''I will. Don't worry.''
''Thank y-''
A violent grasp blocked out her words.
The man spoke up again, ''I think that's enough. You know where to find you, don't you, Y/N?''
''Yes.'' No emotion was in my tone as anger coursed through my body.
The man spoke as if smiling. ''Good. We'll see each other in an hour. Can't wait to meet you, Y/N, you're quite important to our boss and I'd like to see why.''
He hung up.
I listened to the beeping for a bit before lowering my phone gently. Steve was looking at me.
''What's wrong?'' He actually seemed worried for me.
I looked up, meeting his eyes, ''I need you to bring me to the café where I work. Don't ask too many questions, I'll explain it all later, but I just need to get there.''
He nodded, ''Of course. But I'll tag along.''
''Steve-''
''I'm not leaving you alone, Y/N.''
I stayed quiet.
Something in his eyes told me there was no way of persuading him to stay out of this thing. I agreed silently, the two of them, walking over to his car.
I tried my best to keep the peace between my two oldest boys, but of course, Cody had a mind of his own. And giving back the device to Carter wasn't at the top of his list.
He sprinted up the stairs and closed the door behind him, leaving Carter crying on the couch. I put down my youngest daughter, Jessice, and walked over to Carter.
I pressed a kiss to his forehead, ''Don't cry, my darling. He'll be back in a second if he knows better.''
And, like I predicted, he walked back with the tablet as soon as he heard the car in the driveway. He knew better than to challenge his father, and I could hear the car already from a block away due to my power.
The front door opened.
''Where are my babies?'' All the kids stood up to meet Druig at the door.
A smile covered on my face and I walked over to pick up Jessica, letting her hug her father as well.
''How was it? Is Sersi okay?'' I kissed his cheek.
He sighed, ''As well as can be expected. She's still incredibly heartbroken she hadn't noticed it sooner, but the acceptance is getting there.''
''Good,'' Druig picked one of the boys up to swing around and I closed the door behind him, ''I was thinking we could bring the kids to my parents' tomorrow evening. We can finally have that date night we had planned.''
My husband smiled, an arm around my shoulders, ''I'd love that idea. Why not?''
He pressed a kiss to my cheek before paying his undivided attention to the kids.
-
The whole day went by smoothly.
Druig was about to get home, he texted he'd be a bit later, but I didn't mind. As long as he came home.
I was sitting at the table, drawing with Cody, Carter, Brent and Viola whilst Jessica was napping on the couch.
Viola walked over to me, shoving her drawing into my hands, ''Look, mommy,'' she pointed at the drawing, ''this is us.''
''Oh, really?'' I smiled brightly, my eyes raking over the seven different people, ''It's beautiful, honey. Should I put it on the fridge to show daddy?''
She nodded excitedly. I deserted my seat to walk over to the kitchen. There was still some free places left for drawings but not much more. The kids loved to put up their drawings, just so they can point at it and show Druig what they made.
I grabbed a magnet and placed it at the top, making sure the drawing wasn't covering Brent's drawing.
My head turned around to see the kids still drawing. But I did notice Brent wanted the same marker as Cody. ''Brent, wait your turn, honey. Cody will give it to you when he's done, right, sweetheart?'' I called out from the kitchen.
Cody glanced at me and nodded, an innocent look on his face, ''Of course, mommy.''
I chuckled, shaking my head. Cody was a little devil. He always knew how to pull your heartstrings to get away with the stuff he'd done he knew wasn't right.
A noise in the backyard caught my attention. It was approaching the house and I had no idea what it was. Walking up to the kitchen window, I leaned over the counter to get a closer look. It was getting darker, but it wasn't dark enough to block the sight of the woods.
Or the sight of those eyes.
I froze and I fidgeted for my phone, not taking my eyes off of the creature.
He wasn't moving, just calculating my every move. I tapped on speed dial, hoping that Druig would pick up. But it went to voicemail.
I tried to keep my voice steady, ''Hey, honey. Just calling to let you know... I think a Deviant found our home. So, be careful when you get back, okay? Don't worry about me nor the kids, we'll be fine, I'll make sure of it.''
I hung up.
Hopefully he was going to hear it in time.
''Sweethearts,'' I walked over to him, plastering a fake smile on my face to make sure they wouldn't worry, ''why don't you grab some stuff and go over to neighbor Nancy's?''
''Yay.'' Viola cheered, running already to the hallway. The other kids followed soon after. I picked up Jessica on the way over and walked to the neighbor across from us.
Cody knocked on the door.
Nancy opened with a smile, ''Y/N, and the kids. What a nice surprise.''
''Sorry to interrupt your evening, Nance, but I was wondering if I could drop them with you for a bit. I need to do some stuff, but it won't take long.''
Nancy smiled, shrugging it off, ''Of course. I don't mind the company one bit. Come back over when you're done.''
''Thank you.''
I ushered the kids inside before handing Jessica over to Nancy, bidding goodbye to her with a wave as I walked back over.
Once inside the house, I locked the door behind me and got into the backyard.
The creature walked out from the shadows and growled at me. Clearly, he was thinking he was just messing with a simple human. Well, too bad, I'd have to disappoint him. My eyes turned a glowing white as streams of white energy started wrapping around my hands and arms.
''Try me.''
The creature growled and lunged at me. I pulled a foot back and with a smooth movement, I whipped out a string of light from my hand that worked like a whip, swinging the creature away mid-air.
''Don't you-''
I struck him with a ball of my energy.
''-ever-''
Again.
''-threaten-''
And again.
''-my family-''
And again.
''-again.''
With a final blow, he was down to the ground and I used my hands to form this cage of energy around him.
The door to the backyard burst over and I looked back to see Druig with Makkari and Sersi.
''Honey, you didn't tell me we would have guests.'' I smiled innocently, like I wasn't holding a Deviant away from my home with my lifeline.
He chuckled, ''Sorry, next time I'll text you.''
''Good.''
Sersi chuckled and rushed to my aid, taking over.
It gave me a chance to finally rest.
I stumbled over to Druig and gave him a peck on the lips.
''I left a voicemail.''
''I know,'' he brushed some strands away from my hair, ''I heard it. I'm sorry I wasn't here, my beautiful.''
I grabbed his hands, ''You know better than to worry about me, Druig. The kids are over at Nancy's. We can pick them up whenever.''
He smirked at me.
Makkari and Sersi stepped into the conversation, ''We'll take the Deviant and leave you two alone.''
I hugged the both of them before they left through the woods behind our backyard, leaving Druig and me alone. I turned my head to face him a smile on my face.
''Welcome home.''
''Thank you. So, what would you like to do?''
I shrugged, wrapping my arms around his neck, ''I don't know. You tell me.''
He chuckled, lifting me up in a fluid motion, holding me bridal style in his arms, ''I've got some ideas.''
Long-Awaited Confession - A Wil Ohmsford x Reader Oneshot
Amberle sacrificed herself instead of me to become a part of the Ellcrys.
That's how all this started.
It began just like normal. Amberle and I decided that there should be some female Chosen, to motivate the younger girls that society shouldn't hold them back from what they truly believed in. Once, we both got in, things started... changing.
It started with visions and whispers. When I told Amberle about them, she said she had the same.
Then, the Druid Allanon came along with his apprentice half-elf Wil Ohmsford. They told us a bunch of crap about saving the world we know from demons that are escaping, one by one as the leaves of the Ellcrys fell to the ground. And it is as daunting as it sounds.
The moment we realized one of us had to sacrifice the life they had, I was certain it was going to be me.
I mean, Amberle had people that cared for her. A boyfriend who was willing to die for her safety. And an important position that only she would be able to uphold. But, she didn't agree, and laid down her life the moment we heard. Amberle didn't even give me time to protest.
It all hit hard, but mostly for Wil.
Only the Gods knew how much I loved him. He was so sweet and so silly. Not to mention, the bravery and courage he showed to everyone when the battle neared us. The battle was a lot for me to take. The idea of him falling down at the strike of a demon was enough to bring me nightmares.
I should've known he would manage.
I sighed, leaning back against the tree as I settled myself on the highest branch, scratches covering the revealed spots of skin from climbing up the tree. The sun was setting in the distance, disappearing behind the mountains. Despite it being the middle of summer, because of the high altitude, the tips of the mountains were still covered in this brightening white of snow.
''...can't continue this, Wil.''
The voices of Allanon and Wil beneath me brought my attention back down. I was so high up, the figures weren't that clear for me. But I realized who they were before seeing them.
''I'm sorry, but she meant a lot to me, Allanon. It's hard to forget someone instantly when you cared for them with your entire being.''
My heart dropped to my stomach.
They were talking about Amberle.
I got up a bit and started climbing to the tip of the branch, trying to still keep an eye on the two men as they went on with their conversation. It surprised me that they hadn't caught me yet. The branches were creaking a lot at the movement of my weight switching spots.
''Nobody knows that more than I do, Will, as I've lost people, too. But we can't stand still by it too long. You need to accept she's gone, and go forth. Isn't that what Amberle would've wanted?''
A tear fell down my cheek. It dripped down my chin and down onto the blonde man beneath me. The feeling of water on his hand caused him to look up, but I realized it quickly enough, making sure I was heading behind the roof of leaves.
His eyes raked over the tree before settling back down.
His undivided attention went back to Allanon, ''I'll try.''
Allanon nodded, ''Good. Now, have you gotten any idea where Y/N is? We need to treat her wounds before she's at risk of infection.''
Wil shook his head.
I was leaning back against the tree, waiting for their retreating footsteps till I climbed down. I scratched myself a few more times. My feet hit the ground and the first thing I noticed was the sound of rustling, followed by a looming shadow hovering over my body.
I spun around my heels, eyes slightly widened at the sight of Wil, ''Hi.''
''Hi.'' He smiled at me, arms crossed over his chest.
I looked back and forth between him, anxiety washing over me.
''Do you want something?''
''You tell me,'' he stepped closer, ''since you heard everything when you were right above us.''
I turned red, but pretended like it was the cold breeze, ''What? Pffft, no,'' he tilted his head, challenging me, ''what are you talking about?''
''Please. I know you better than that.''
I didn't say a thing and just made a run for it. Allanon was waiting for me anyway.
-
The minute Allanon was done, I stepped out of the hut and froze when I saw Wil waiting. Apparently our conversation wasn't embarrassing enough. His gaze fell on me, his feet bringing him closer to me.
The moment he was in a close proximity to me, I didn't think for another second and wrapped my arms around his neck.
His body stiffened but relaxed not that soon after.
''I miss her, too.''
His head dropped to my shoulders, his arms wrapping itself around my waist. I felt the tears on my shoulders and let him cry for a bit.
Soon, he composed himself again and pulled something out of his bag. It was a piece of my favorite fruit.
A smile covered on my face, ''Is... that for me?''
''Well, yeah,'' he glanced between me and the fruit in his extended hand, ''I thought it might sweeten the conversation we're about to have.''
''Oh? Will it be that awful?''
He shrugged, ''I don't think so, at least, not if it goes the way I want it to.''
I took the fruit, taking a bite and let him lead the way. He had found this quiet spot near the creek where he dragged this log to serve as our bench.
It felt romantic.
''Have a seat.''
His arms motioned for a spot and I thanked him, listening to him. He didn't stand there long after and sat down beside me, a silence wafting over us.
''You want a piece?'' I held it out.
His eyes met mine and nodded, taking a bite from the fruit in my hand. Some of the juice went down the corner of his mouth. A chuckle escaped my mouth.
''You'd think a man your age would be able to eat without spilling.'' His cheeks turned red at my comment, but I didn't notice as I ripped a piece from my shirt and gently patted it against the dripping juice.
The moment slowed down, the both of us just looking at each other.
His eyes met mine and they held them, in a sort of hypnotic way. My heart started pounding two times faster and the butterflies in my stomach went on a rampage at the sight of his gaze. He cleared his throat and the minute I heard it, I turned my head around.
''Here.'' He accepted the piece of ripped clothing with a silent thanks.
After a needed silence, I spoke up, ''What would you like to talk about?''
''Oh, uhm,'' he cleared his throat, turning to me, ''I would like to speak about... us?''
''Us?''
''Yeah. I know it's a bit sudden, and I don't really know if there really is an 'us', and if it's not, I would like there to be if you would want it, but don't feel obliged to ac-''
''There already was an us,'' I smiled shyly, eyes moving away from him, ''I think there was an us the second I met you. Do you remember? You were searching for me and Amberle at Aunt Pyria's-''
He started laughing, ''Yeah, it wasn't my finest moment.''
''Mine neither.''
The heaviness between us got a bit lighter, making it easier to face each other.
''With Amberle and the whole Ellcrys thing, it's been a lot. But she shared something that I thought we needed to talk about.''
I hummed, waiting for his response to clarify.
He grabbed my hands, ''Do you... feel something... for me?''
''Oh,'' I was surprised at the bluntness, ''uhm... y-yeah. I guess so.''
He sighed in relief, ''Good, otherwise this conversation was about to get real awkward real fast.''
I chuckled.
''You see, me and Amberle had a talk before that. We had some moments between us, but we both weren't willing to move on it. I don't have a clear idea on why she didn't want it, but I knew I didn't want to because there was someone else I had an eye on. I love you, Y/N.''
The shock kept me silent. The only thing between us was his soft pants, anticipating my reaction, and me blinking at him like I was stupid.
I shook my head, ''You don't have to say that because she spilled the beans about my feelings. I would accept it-''
''I really, really do love you, Y/N, and it doesn't have anything to do with me not wanting to hurt you. Sure, I don't want to do that, but I'm not willing to lead you on to spare you the pain. It's the whole truth. I care about you, and I want to be with you.''
He waited for my reaction.
I was speechless.
No words came to mind as I let his words sit and soak into my mind, making me jump in action. I leaned forward, pressing my lips against his briefly.
He was shocked as I pulled back with a smile, ''I love you, too, Wil.''
A smile came on his face and with one hand on my cheek, he leaned back towards me and pulled me into another kiss. This one coming from the both of us and a bit more passionate.
His lips were as soft as I always dreamt they were, but the kissing was way better than any of my hopes and dreams of it.
My lips moved in sync with his.
The minute we pulled away, his forehead connected against mine. The both of us were a panting mess, but we couldn't be happier.
''Hey, love birds,'' Allanon called with a grin, ''dinner's ready.''
We chuckled and nodded. I grabbed his hand when he wanted to pull me up, and with my hand in his we made our way.
Eretria was already eating up her portion, her eyes not leaving mine once as soon as she saw the hand-holding.
''What'd I miss?''
''I'll tell you later.'' I chuckled, Wil not leaving my side once.
Him and Her and The Ocean - A William 'Will' Turner x Reader Oneshot
The voyage to the crew's next destination was a rocky road to say the least. But, luckily, Y/N had Will and Elizabeth at her side and Jack to distract her from any worries.
It was like an escape from the reality she knew as her life.
For the third time this night, Y/N was telling a story to the kids they rescued from a shipwreck near them on the way over to the next harbor. They were scared, and missing their home, so something needed to be done to get their mind off of things.
''... and that's when the princess realized what she had to do. She grabbed the sword at her side, lunged at the monstrous creature in front of her, plunging the sword right in his chest.''
The kids in front of Y/N gasped, completely engulfed by the story. She made a knife with her hands and plunged it towards her chest, a groan escaping her lips and fell onto the deck. The kids laughed at the young woman, starting to climb on top of her.
Laughter echoed over the entire deck.
Y/N was too engulfed in the adorable kids before her, that she didn't realize someone was watching it all go down.
Jack, however, did.
He walked over to the young man and tapped his hand with his flask, ''Take a sip of rum, won't ya, laddy? It keeps your mind off of things.''
Will turned his head around to look at his captain, then down to the flask in his hand, before meeting his eyes again and shaking his head, ''No, thanks. Someone on this ship needs to stay sober.''
''We have Y/N and Elizabeth for that, aye. Here,'' Jack squirmed the bottle in Will's hand, not accepting a 'no', ''you seem to need it.''
''I don't know what you're talking about.'' Will still stared at the scene in front of him instead of his so-called 'love of his life' beside him talking to Gibbs.
Elizabeth didn't see Will's stare on her oldest friend.
''Everything aight with you and Miss,'' Jack looked at Elizabeth, who simply glared at him when she spotted him staring, shuddering in response as he turned back to the man he was talking to, ''bossy over here?''
''Elizabeth?'' Will turned to Jack.
The captain replied with the tip of his head and took a sip of alcohol, sighing in relief as if this was the only thing that could quench his thirst, ''That would be her.''
Will shrugged.
''We're fine. Why are you even asking that?''
His eyes were once more set on the children and the woman before him at the other side of the deck.
Forgetting he even denied anything, he grabbed the flask back from Jack and took a big gulp. His eyebrows scrunched together at the strong sensation in his throat that slowly made his way down in the wake of the liquid.
Jack took a sip as well, and Will found himself wondering how Jack could even drink that much without moving an inch at the strong burn he felt.
Maybe he was just already too far gone. Too much rum and you become invulnerable to it.
''Well,'' Jack leaned back against the railing, moving along with the hits of waves against the strong ship he called his home, ''I saw you staring at Y/N and thought something more was going on.''
''Between me and... Y/N?''
Jack nodded.
He seemed certain of his assumptions.
''There's nothing between,'' Will started to doubt his own words, but he played it off as a simple mistake in pronounciation, ''between me and her.''
''Could've fooled me, lad,'' Jack walked away without saying another word, assuming that Will would follow - which he did, ''that spark in your eyes would say a whole other thing than your mouth just did.''
The young man following him on his heels, surprised at the annoying captain's observance.
''I tell you, there's nothing there.''
Jack spun around, stopping dead in his tracks, which surprised Will and almost made him collide with his chest, ''Tell me, and try to be honest: Are you convincing me, or yourself?''
''...''
Will had no words for it because he know longer knew.
At the beginning of this he didn't know Y/N. He didn't know her as well as Elizabeth and the woman felt safe. Felt trusting. But now that Will got to know the young woman, he is no longer certain of anything.
Jack hummed, already knowing the answer to his own question, ''You need to make a choice, lad, and rather sooner than later.''
The captain was once again walking away, this time to his own private humble abode.
Will called after him, ''Are you giving me advice?''
The captain turned around with a grin as he realized, ''Wow, I am. Look at me go.'' He cheered for himself as he stumbled his way back to his bed - and his nightstand where another bottle of rum was stucked for security.
-
Y/N came back to the deck after bringing all the kids to their beds, sighing as she felt the calm wind ruffle her hair that was still braided.
She pulled the matching ribbon out of her hair, her fingers untangling the strands, one by one.
''Shouldn't you be asleep?'' The woman jumped at the voice but relaxed when she saw who it was.
''I could ask you the same, William Turner.''
The man smiled and settled beside her, the both of them staring over the dark sea unfolding before them in a comfortable silence that soothed the both of them.
Will cleared his throat after a while, ''I wanted you to know first,'' that made Y/N turn her head to him, waiting for him to continue, ''me and Elizabeth... separated.''
''Oh my,'' Y/N couldn't believe her ears, ''I'm so, so sorry. I never even noticed it wasn't going well. That's not the point. The point is,'' she placed a hand on top of his that was resting on the railing, ''are you okay?''
''Surprisingly, I think I am,'' he turned his hand around so he was holding hers, a soft smile on his face, ''for quite sometime I knew she was the one but now... now, I'm not sure of anything anymore.''
''What changed?''
The woman beside him seemed set on getting to know him, more than she already did. The thought alone made him brighten up in a heartbeat.
''Someone else made me feel the way no one ever made me feel - not even Elizabeth.''
It took some time before it dawned on her what he meant. But it was right in front of her. The only woman beside Elizabeth aboard was her.
''Will-''
''Let me finish,'' he turned fully to her, ''please.''
She stayed quiet and nodded, almost unnoticeable.
''I didn't know you. But when I did, you seemed to understand me in a way no one understood me. You made me feel seen. The only thing on my mind during the day was if you were around so we could just sit and talk, and at night I seemed to long for the next morning in the hopes I could see you in person one day. I love you, Y/N.''
The confession made her heart flutter in a way only he ever could, and a shy smile appeared on her lips.
''I'm glad to hear that. It took some time but I don't mind. Will, I love you. And, I think I always have. No - I'm sure of it. I always have loved you.''
The man grinned and pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her waist. Their bodies were in so close proximity, their breathing pushed them only closer.
Will's hand lifted up to wipe a strand from her face in a gentle and fluid motion, before leaning down and pressing his lips against hers.
She quickly responded by melting into the kiss and tilting her head.
Their lips moved in sync, the whole world standing still as if time stopped moving.
Once they pulled away for air, nothing seemed to be left but the two of them, swaying on the rhythm of the deep blue ocean beneath their feet.
''You want to go to bed?'' Will asked softly.
The woman shook her head, ''I just want this moment to last a little longer.''
He nodded, standing beside her. Will wrapped his arms back around her, folding them on top of her stomach and leaned his head on hers.
And together, they just stood there for a little longer. Just her and him and the ocean.
I thought I had seen it all. My eyes witnessed everything humanity could bring to the table; love and betrayal, kindness and fury, war and peace. You name it, I most likely have seen it.
But I was surprised when I just woke up one day and felt this weird turning sensation in my stomach the moment I laid eyes on Druig at the breakfast table. Then, when I walked in further, I saw Makkari beside him, laughing at something he said.
That's the moment I felt jealous for the first time in the centuries of my existence.
I played it off like it was just another normal day, but deep inside I knew, I knew it was never going to be normal again.
My mind displayed a million possibilities of me telling him how I feel, but none seemed like the right one. Or maybe I was just discouraged by the fact that he always seemed to seek out Makkari, my best friend.
''Y/N?'' I saw a hand signing my name and I looked up from my book to face Makkari with a worried frown on her face, ''Did you see what I said?''
Placing down my book, I used my hand to communicate back, like it was as normal as talking for me, ''No, sorry. Can you repeat it?''
We were currently all working on a plan to make sure that Earth is going to survive the evil plan of our leader Arishem, all of us making individual tasks for each other.
Makkari and I were discussing the best way to sneak up to the spot when Druig joined beside me.
He showed me a kind smile but turned to Makkari more quickly than the speed of light.
My heart clenched at the sight, the pain actually blinding me for a second. I grabbed my book, slammed it close and excused myself, fleeing to my room. Kingo saw everything go down and followed suit after me.
''Y/N? Y/N, hold up.'' I sighed when I knew I wasn't going to get rid of him if I didn't stop and let him say whatever was on his chest this time.
He stopped beside me and placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder, ''You okay, kid?''
''Yeah, why wouldn't I be?''
''I don't know,'' Kingo shrugged, ''the way you left when Druig came - it appeared as if something more was going on than either of you were telling. Do you... Do you feel something for him, perhaps?''
I stayed quiet, not wanting to tell him anything. But my silence? It spoke more words than my voice ever could.
The realization dawned on him and I quickly fled the scene.
If Kingo knew, it might mean that Druig is soon going to know it, too. And I'm not ready for that yet.
-
Days went by and I managed to ignore Druig in all of them. It was getting obvious that something was going on, but I didn't want to tell. Not yet.
Distraction is the last thing any of us need right now.
The battle was going well for us, except for the fact that I wasn't able to heal from the attack that Ikaris launched on me.
Makkari rushed to me, ''Can you take care of Druig?''
Before I could answer, she was off. I watched her run in her top speed towards the beach and I stumbled behind Druig as he tried to make it to the speed where the damn giant was going to wake up.
It went well for a second but then Ikaris managed to fly towards us and with all his strength, he unleashed it all on Druig, driving him into the ground. My life flashed before my eyes as anger and sadness took over my body. I fell to my knees.
Seconds went by, followed by more seconds, and he didn't stand up. I was starting to believe he was dead, but I wasn't going to give up.
I groaned in pain at the movement when I placed my hands on the ground. With all the strength in me, I focused on the powers coursing through my veins.
They extended into the earth, glowing strings rooting beneath my fingertips.
I was feeling more faint by the minute but I wasn't going to give up on the only one I've ever loved.
Determination strengthened me. More glow was coming from me and surrounded me like a cloak.
Makkari saw everything go down and rushed over to my aid. Druig was lifted from the hole, and Makkari was quick to grab him.
His eyes fluttered open just as the glow went down and I fell to the ground, blood seeping from the wound making a puddle beneath me. My hands fell limp at my side.
''Thank you.'' Druig signed to Makkari and she shook her head, denying she had anything to do with it.
She spotted me and pointed towards my body, making Druig more obvious to what actually went down.
He stood up and fell beside me. His hand brushed some strands away as he sighed when he saw my chest rise and fall.
''Thank God, she's still alive.''
He lifted me up bridal style and rushed towards the others.
-
I had no idea how long I was out like a light, but I knew that I needed something more than just my thoughts when I finally felt my body again.
I wiggled my toes and fingers, my eyes opening gently.
Fluttering them closed again when the bright light hit my face, I realized someone else was holding onto me like dear life.
My head turned to the side, surprise clouding my judgment, ''Druig?''
At the sound of his name, he woke up. It was quiet between us when his eyes finally fell on me. I thought he was going to say something, but he just leaned forward and pressed a kiss to my lips.
My eyes were open in surprise but when it dawned on me that Druig was kissing me, they soon closed and I let myself sink into the kiss even deeper than I already was.
He parted his lips gently from mine when we both were in need of air.
''I was afraid I wouldn't be able to thank you.''
''That's what this was,'' I questioned, my voice barely a whisper, ''a sign of gratitude?''
''No,'' he shook his head, ''more a confession. I should've seen what was in front of me.''
And since that day, we've been talking more and getting to know each other better. It went so well, that we soon after started dating. And now, two years later, I was his wife.
We had two adorable little kids and a home in Spain.
For years, I've been asking myself the question: What about me?
Why can't he look at me in the way he looks at her? Why can't he feel his heart racing around me like it does around her?
You can guess, I never really got the answers to those questions. Mostly because I never said them out loud. I know that when I ask those questions and I hear the answers I expect to hear from him, my world would crumble.
My heart would shatter into a thousand pieces, too small to put back together again.
And I'm certain I'm not ready for that. I just need to pretend like he doesn't matter to me. But, it's harder than I expected.
Because no matter what, my mind returns to memories we made, my thoughts circle back to his smile and the only thing I see when I'm asleep is the twinkle in his eyes when he's playing his favorite Iron Maiden record.
''Earth to Y/N?'' I blinked and adjusted to the sight of Eddie waving his hand in front of my face. I felt my cheeks heat up, and I smiled apologetically.
''Sorry.''
He shook his head, a grin on his face, ''It doesn't matter. For a second I thought you were brain dead.''
My eyes squinted, a smile on my face that seemed more genuine than the one I previously showed him, ''That was your first assumption?''
''Well, yeah.''
A chuckle escaped from my lips. These are the moments I cherish. Just the two of us, together, making fun of the small things, him making me smile.
Eddie turned his head around to the sound of footsteps and when I saw the sheepish smile appear on his face I didn't need to look to know who it was.
''Chrissy, I was wondering when you were getting here?''
''I'm sorry,'' she apologized, still dressed in our high school's cheer uniform, ''my boyfriend didn't let me go, and then I couldn't find the way here-''
''I'm heading off.'' I interrupted her, the joy gone from my eyes. With one hand I swung my backpack over my shoulder and with the other I grabbed my music.
I wasn't going to sit around and watch this go down.
Eddie frowned at me, confused to why I was suddenly leaving. ''But we were going to hang out.''
''Maybe later,'' I smiled, but it didn't quite reach my eyes, ''I'll talk to you later.''
He nodded, but I didn't see it because I was already walking away, tears brimming in my eyes as I remembered the way his eyes twinkled when he saw her approaching.
He never had that with me.
-
The hour of witching - which is 3 AM, if nobody knew - was coming around the corner and I was still perched on my bed with assignment papers scattered all around me.
I had some debate things to settle, and then I had this paper on Napoleon and the battles he led. Followed by a boring lecture which I had to make notes on and mark everything I thought was important around 30 pages.
You thought you would get a break eventually, but our high school didn't know that we had a personal life. Alice Cooper was heard on my phono, his voice the only thing that was heard in my room.
So, when some knocking on my window arrived, I noticed. I frowned, placed the papers away and walked to the window, not noticing my current attire. Something within me was so certain no one was going to visit, that I was wearing only an AC/DC tour shirt with shorts, but you couldn't see them under the oversized shirt.
Imagine my surprise when I saw Eddie standing there with a plastic bag in his hand. From what I could see they were filled to the brim with my favorite snacks.
I reached out, unlocked the window and widened it enough for him to step through. I helped him out and quickly closed the window silently.
''What are you doing here,'' I asked, ''my parents are going to come home any second.''
''They aren't home?''
I sighed, ''It's date night. And when it's date night, they tend to stay up till the early hours. 'We can party like we used to even though we are old', they usually say.''
He chuckled and sat down on my bed, reaching out paper by paper to inspect what I was doing.
''Damn, I forgot how much we had to do.''
''It wouldn't be that much if you made it for a change.'' I retorted.
A grin came onto his face, ''Good to see you have your sense of humor, still.''
''Why wouldn't I?'' I crossed my arm and sat down on the windowsill, curious to why he was here.
He shrugged, grabbing a beer and opening it, ''I don't know. You left quite abruptly this afternoon.''
''You were with someone else.''
''I was also there with you, Y/N,'' he took a sip and looked at me intently, ''when are you going to tell me what is wrong?''
''You never said you wanted to know-''
''I made that obvious,'' he threw me a beer, ''sit down, take a sip and spill your guts. I'm asking now.''
I sighed.
This was bound to happen sooner or later.
I got the top of the beer off and took a long sip, feeling the bitter taste slide down my throat. Guess it's time for the truth.
My bed gave way when I sat down beside him. Here goes nothing.
''What do you think about Chrissy?''
Eddie stared at the ceiling of my bedroom as he racked his head about the question, ''I like her. Though, I do think she has an awful taste is men.''
''And, what about me?''
His head turned to me in confusion, clearly not realizing what I was getting at, ''What about you?''
He repeated the question as if it was going to make sense the second time. I just stayed quiet, letting him think.
Eddie took a deep breath and thought for a second, ''I-I don't know. Obviously I like you. Otherwise we wouldn't be friends.''
''But do you look at me the way you look at her?''
The confusion was still evident on his face, but as the minutes passed by, the realization dawned on him.
His lips parted, searching for the right words. Probably to reject me, if you ask me. But no matter what I thought, he didn't say them with his own words.
I was afraid I broke him, or something, like a faulty error on an out-dated server.
''Eddie?''
''Are you..,'' he cleared his throat, as if it was going to sound him less surprised, ''are you saying what I think you are saying?''
I turned my eyes away from him to the bag. My hands rummaged through the contents, and a smile appeared on my face when I saw my favorite movie in there.
I pulled it out and stared at it, before showing it at him with amusement in my eyes, ''Did you bring Top Gun?''
''Uhm,'' he was caught off-guard, I think by the subject change more than anything else, ''yeah. I remember you saying you liked it and couldn't watch it in the cinema with me, so I thought we could watch it... together.''
I couldn't help it. I grabbed his hand and squeezed it, my heart skipping a beat. Eddie didn't have to do anything and he would trigger the butterflies in my stomach, but when he did something kind or thoughtful, like this, it was twice as bad.
I stood up and placed it into the DVD player, my small little TV lighting up alive.
''Y/N,'' Eddie sighed, ''you're doing it again.''
I was busy trying to make the movie work, ''Busy doing what?''
''Changing the subject. Pretending as if nothing is going on and avoiding the matter that so clearly needs to be discussed.''
I froze.
I was doing that again.
A sigh escaped my lips as I lowered my hands, taking my time before I turned around, forcing myself to face it.
''You're right.''
''So, can we talk about it?''
''Yeah, sure,'' I crossed my arms and sat down at the end of the bed, waiting for him to talk, ''just say it, please.''
It seemed like an eternity before he dared to speak again.
''First of all, I need you to tell me what you haven't been saying for quite some while, because my head is reeling with possibilities. It needs to be less vague-''
He didn't need to say more as I interrupted him with the inevitable truth, ''I love you.''
He froze. His eyes searched for mine, but I didn't dare to look him in the eyes. Not now. Not when I don't know whether he accepts it or not. Not when I don't know how he feels.
''You love me?''
He questioned, repeating what I said once more. I sighed and nodded, still not looking him in the eyes. This was painfully awkward.
''That's what you weren't saying?''
Didn't he understand the matter that was being discussed right now?! Why does he have to make it so difficult?!
I was panicking on the inside, my mind running back and forth between assumptions of what he was thinking or wanting to say.
A smile appeared on his face, ''I was waiting for you to admit it.''
I was about to jump in the defense as to why he has to forget this ever had taken place, but then the realization hit me. He didn't reject me. The opposite, actually.
My eyes finally met his and I saw the cheerful face that I fell in love with. It's like the day he got tickets to see Alice Cooper live.
''You aren't... You aren't rejecting me?''
''No, not really. Did you think I was?''
I shrugged, feeling my heart fill with warmth, ''I was assuming you were, yeah.''
''God,'' he laughed, his head falling back before he looked me in the face again, ''this is what was wrong?''
''Uh,'' I didn't understand why he was being so, so... normal, ''yeah...''
He grabbed my hands and scooted closer to me, neither of us caring about the papers, ''You don't know how long I was waiting for you to finally say that. I was about to give up on it, matter of fact.''
''So, you feel the same?''
''God, didn't you ever notice,'' I shook my head in reply, ''I give you notes every day, I'm right outside your classroom whenever I am closeby, I always sit next to you during our annual Dungeons and Dragons meetings. Should I go on?''
''I can't believe it.'' My mind was reeling.
But the joy I was feeling could never be replaced.
We sat there, staring at each other when I heard a car on the driveway. ''Shit, my parents are home.'' We started panicking as we cleaned up the groceries and such. I leant down to gather the fallen papers and he removed the DVD, before stuffing it back in the paperbag.
The front door opened.
''You need to go out of the window.''
''How romantic of you, Y/N.'' I rolled my eyes at him and just ushered him to the window. I opened it back open and watched my parents enter before I let Eddie step outside. I was expecting him to go and I was about to close the window when his hand on mine stopped me dead in my tracks.
My face turned to him and I was surprised to feel his soft lips on mine. He was kissing me.
I have my first kiss with Eddie Munson.
I returned the kiss, but he pulled away already. With a grin on his face, he spoke up in whispers, ''We'll continue this soon, and, Y/N?''
I hummed in response, wanting him to hurry up before my dad catches him.
''The next time it'll be a date.''
My heart fluttered as I stared at his leaving figure.
I only looked away when he was out of sight, out of my neighborhood. I closed the window and jumped when the door to my room opened.
''Are you still awake, honey?''
''Yeah, just finishing some homework. I'll go to bed in a minute.''
''Okay, good,'' my mother smiled at me, my father behind her with a caring hand on her shoulder smiling at me, ''then we'll leave you to it. Don't stay up too late.''
I smiled at her, ''I won't.''
The door closed again and I let out a sigh of relief. That was a close one. But then his final words came back to me.
''The next time it'll be a date.''
I went to bed just five minutes after, reliving the kiss we had every night and excitement for our official first date.
Lost in a World of Words - A Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange x Reader Oneshot
I've been writing for as long as I could write my own name. The way the words created this beautiful world in someone's mind was just so captivating to me.
So it wasn't a big surprise for me to want to become a writer. But being a hotshot writer is a lot of hard work, which I sometimes even regret and wonder if I'm ever going to be able to do that. Luckily, I have friends all around me who support me.
And a caring boyfriend whose got my back.
''Are you still writing?''
My Etta James record was playing in the background as I was seated on the bed in comfy shorts and one of Stephen's hoodies, a laptop on my lap, papers scattered all around me.
I looked up and smiled when I saw my boyfriend in the doorframe, ''Hey, you're back already.''
He got rid of his cape, which floated to a chair in the corner. His grin was onto his face as he crawled onto the bed behind me and pulled me down to lay on his chest.
His fingers started toying with my hair, pulling them out of the messy bun I made, ''We were done earlier, and I was just missing someone special really badly.''
I chuckled, my eyes falling from the screen for a small second, before playing along. My head turned for me to look over my shoulder at my grinning partner, ''Oh, really? And who is that 'special someone'?''
''If you really have to ask that,'' he pressed a gently peck against my lips, ''then I'm not being a good boyfriend, now, am I?''
A laughter bubbled out of me when he started kissing my neck. Stephen at the beginning of our relationship was very on his own.
He didn't tell me much and he liked being with just himself, which I accepted at first, but as longer we went along, the more I felt this need with him to be by his side 24/7.
Fortunately, I wasn't the only who felt that way. Stephen started to become more open and before I knew it he asked me out and we went on the most amazing date ever.
Stephen Strange was much more different from the person he shows the world than I would've imagined. And the biggest achievement of my life was trusting my instincts and giving him and this relationship a shot.
Without him, I would be nowhere.
My mind was racking through the memories we made, a world that just wanted to be formed together with words. And suddenly I had a story idea.
But, it was difficult, to put it down on paper. Especially when someone is kissing your neck.
I leaned back and giggled, ''Stephen, I can't work this way.''
''Good,'' he didn't stop, ''you need a break. This morning you were just like how I found you just now, not even an inch different.''
''So? I need to finish this.''
''Alright,'' he halted and just snuggled into my neck, ''go right ahead.''
But his touch distracted me. More than I wanted to admit.
I gave in and closed the laptop, turning around, the both of us falling back. Laughter echoed through the once empty room and we rolled around, papers flying down around us towards the floor.
It was a mess.
My hands were on his chest as we snuggled together. The scent of him was enough to satisfy any loneliness I once felt.
''I missed you, too.'' I muttered almost inaudibly.
My eyes went up and I saw him smiling down at me. He heard me just fine.
His eyes sparkled in the faint light of the bedside table lamp, illuminating us in a soft glow. Stephen looked even better this way, and that's something, because he is very attractive.
His hands started rubbing up and down my arms, warming me up - inside as well as outside.
''Glad to hear that. For a second there,'' he grinned, ''you had me thinking you were just fine without me.''
''I'm never fine without you.''
My heart warmed at the loving look he gave me. This is the Stephen I fell in love with.
Without a second thought, I leaned up to kiss his lips.
His lips were very soft, like clouds, I could only imagine. We moved in sync and before I knew it, I was in a whole other world.
One where it was just him and I. The world could do nothing to seperate us and I felt like I was floating in his arms.
I pulled back and carressed his cheek, ''Two more minutes, then I'll continue.''
''Only if we spend the whole night together.''
I smiled, ''That I can do.''
We returned to snuggling together, and I suddenly felt like all the lost words I was looking for fell into place like puzzle pieces, creating this beautiful display of scenic words.
The Eternals have been my family for centuries. And I couldn't wish for a better one. Ajak was like a mom to me, Ikaris kept me strong, Sersi held my hand whenever I needed just someone by my side. But the one I loved most of all was Druig.
He was my beating heart. He was the life coursing through my veins. Without him, I was nothing.
So, when he decided to leave and live somewhere with a group he mind-controlled, I didn't tell him that it was a bad idea like the rest. No. I went along and joined him at his side.
What can I say, love makes you blind.
But as time flew by, the sensations of grief only grew stronger. I missed the rest of my family. I missed Ikaris's jokes to cheer me up, or Sersi's attempts at lame distraction, or Sprite teaching me new things every single day.
I didn't have that anymore.
I was sitting at the side of the lake, my bare feet flying back and forth in the water calmly.
My thoughts were consuming me whole. So much that I didn't even hear the footsteps approaching me.
The person sat down next to me and just by scent alone, I didn't even have to turn around to know it was Druig.
''What is going on in that head of yours?'' He questioned softly, making sure that the sound wasn't too big a contrast to the silence I was in, ''You have been stuck in your mind for months now. You know you can tell me anything, right?''
''I don't think you would understand this matter.'' I admitted gently.
I knew Druig was my listening ear, but I also knew that he would think it strange how bothered I was by such a trivial matter (in his eyes).
I turned to him and finally admitted the truth.
It was something I wanted to say for a long time now, and I think, it's time to let it fly between us freely.
''I miss them.''
''Who? You have your family here.'' Druig retorted matter-of-factly.
Sighing, I shook my head and turned back to the water, ''We both know it isn't my family.''
Druig stayed silent before speaking up once again, ''But I am your family.''
I thought for a second.
I never saw him as family. I never saw him as a sibling like Ikaris and Sersi, I saw him as someone I wanted to create a family with. But not the way he thinks.
I want kids with him. A home with a tiny garden for our own fruits. A cute dog to keep the little ones busy. Oh, and a terrace. One with fairylights strung all around it, making it light up in the dark.
I bit back the reply that I was longing to say. He wasn't ready to hear my feelings, not whilst Makkari is still on his mind.
''Yeah,'' I could taste the lie, ''you are.''
''What aren't you telling me?''
''Druig,'' I turned to him, but didn't dare to look him in the eyes at first, ''what would you say if I told you that I didn't look at you the same way as I do at Sersi, or Sprite, or Kingo?''
I could see the sadness in his eyes.
Shit, he wasn't understanding the clues I was trying to give.
''Do you-'' he took a deep breath, trying to hide the hurt behind a façade, ''Do you not care for me?''
''I do care for you. But not the way you think I do.''
It was silent for a minute. I watched him intently and saw the oblivion turn into realization. His mouth parted and he stared back at me with slightly widened eyes.
I waved it off, ''Don't worry about it, I know my place.''
The water was starting to reflect the sunset at the other end. Streaks of orange and yellow moved gently and collided to form this beautiful picturesque display before us.
All the thoughts once in my head found there way outside.
''I didn't hesitate to come with you, considering I have stronger feelings for you as I do for any of them. But, lately, the memories are surfacing. And,'' I took in the fresh air and let the previous words linger for a second longer, ''I just started to miss them.''
''So, what? Do you think it a mistake to come with me?''
His words stung. They left a blow to my heart and I flung my head to him instantly. I frowned, hurt in my eyes. ''I said I miss them. Not that I regret my decisions. But, Druig, they are family. I was going to miss them eventually.''
His eyes held mine in an intense gaze and he looked at his feet in the water, ''I guess it was bound to happen.''
The silence returned. We stayed there staring at the water. But then I felt this strange sensation in my head.
As if someone was trying to rip the memories out of my head.
I groaned when I realized what was happening.
''Druig.''
''What?''
He spoke so innocently, as if he wasn't doing anything. But there's no one else around us who could do this.
I took a deep breath and turned to him, just in time to see the yellow glow return to his normal eye color.
''Can you not?''
''I don't know what you're talking about.''
A chuckle escaped my lips, ''You can't just enter my head without warning, or permission, for that fact.''
Druig's head turned to me and there was this sheepish glint in his eyes, ''Honestly-''
''Druig, I saw your eyes.''
He sighed.
Guess he finally knew that he wasn't going to lie his way out of this one. His eyes met mine and I saw what he was really feeling. Frustration. Worry. Sadness.
It was all right there, swarming in his eyes before me.
All the time spent together really made him an open book before me.
''Why?''
''I don't like seeing you hurt, Y/N,'' his words were like a soft and gentle touch to my heart, ''somehow I was hoping that I could get your mind off of it for a minute. I would even settle for a second.''
My hand reached out for his and he wrapped his fingers around me immediately.
A smile came onto my face.
I squeezed his hand in reassurance, ''It's sweet, Druig, but this isn't the way it's meant to be. Sometimes, how painful or difficult it might be, we have to stick to the emotions were feeling. It's a part of life.''
''You're getting way too used to Earth,'' Druig joked, managing a laugh out of me, which made him smile, ''really. You're turning human.''
''And surprisingly,'' I met his gaze, ''I don't mind it one bit. It's difficult sometimes, but they have their appeal, I suppose.''
''Arishem won't be happy with this.''
The mention of the man whose rules we were following soured the whole mood.
And I wasn't the only one feeling that way. One look at Druig and I knew he shared the same sentiment as mine. I would always have someone at my side.
''I don't care about Arishem.''
''Me neither,'' he spoke back, a grin on his face, ''now, why don't we do something fun. Tomorrow, we can return to this spot and we can figure out how to make the suffering less.''
I nodded, a soft smile playing on my lips.
He wrapped an arm around me and kissed my forehead, pulling me into his side, ''And we have to talk about that confession of yours sooner or later.''
I suppose we did.
We stayed there for a few minutes. When we were satisfied with the sunset, we got back up and played some games with the kids at our camp.
It distracted me. But I knew the next day we would have to talk about everything.
For the ones who really needed to know what happened, here it goes:
Druig and I had a long talk. He said he needed time with the whole thing, but afterwards, he finally returned his feelings.
We saved the world from distruction with help from our family, and Druig and I went our merry way together.
We had the dream life. A house surrounded in nature. A few loving kids, a terrace with fairylights, a mini garden that we tended to as a family, and a handful of adorable pets.
It was the dream I was wishing for since I realized I loved Druig.
We stayed together for eternity, even got married, and I couldn't be happier.
Our Wedding - A Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange x Reader Oneshot
My and Stephen's story goes way back. It all started with a blind hatred for each other, which eventually turned out to be utter adoration. Life without Stephen wasn't life worth living for me.
After a while, he saw the same thing in me as I saw in him and he asked me out on a date. One date turned to two, which turned to four, and before we knew it, we were going strong with a hundred dates in our pocket. That's when he decided to pop the question.
I had no idea he was going to do it, because he once told me that he wasn't interested in marriage. My mind was changing, thinking a wedding wasn't in the cards for me. Who would want a wedding when it isn't with the one you love?
One day, I was just teaching the kindergarten class about mathematics when all the other kids entered with a single rose in their hands. My own class pulled out their own roses and handed them to me. It was enough for a full lifetime.
And that's when he entered.
He had the biggest grin on his face as he held a box in his hand and fell to one knee in front of me. And he asked the question. He was enough to throw out his own belief out of the window to be with me. That's when I knew he was it for me. And now?
Now it's finally time for the first chapter of our shared story.
Our wedding.
-
I was busy cooking some breakfast downstairs when I heard Stephen's footsteps. He was wearing some worn jogging pants and barefoot, he entered the kitchen and wrapped his arms around me.
He hummed as he dropped his chin onto my shoulder.
''That smells amazing, sweetheart.''
''Thank you,'' I turned around to give him a kiss before returning to our breakfast, ''thought you were hungry. You forgot to eat yesterday night.''
He frowned.
He always used to ask how I knew these kind of things. But I just knew. When it was about Stephen Strange, I knew a lot.
Placing his food on a plate, I served him the meal and sat down beside him with my own. We were just spending our time together, laughing at memories that came to mind and cries of laughter when we remembered one of our many blunders.
Noon came way too quick, but we were going to see each other again.
At the altar.
-
My friend Sophie, and also one of my teacher colleagues, helped me into my dress and did my hair and makeup. I stared at the reflection in the vanity mirror and couldn't believe my eyes. Never, ever did I look this beautiful in my life before.
I hoped I wouldn't disappoint Stephen.
''Stop being so insecure,'' Sophie almost read my mind as she pinned back a strand, a gentle smile on her face, ''it's just the jitters talking. Pay no mind to them.''
''How do people deal with jitters? I just keep wondering,'' I bit back the tears that were stinging my eyes, ''if he really wants to marry me.''
Sophie stopped dead in her tracks and turned me around, so I was face to face with her without a mirror between us.
''What do you mean?''
''I mean,'' I started pacing back and forth out of panic and insecurities, ''he once told me that he wasn't going to marry. Never, ever. So, why the sudden change of mind?''
My friend softened. She waited patiently until I stopped pacing out of curiosity for her reply.
Her hand grabbed a hold of mine, ''Maybe because he loves you. Now, the main question we need to ask is, do you love him?''
''More than myself.'' I spoke bluntly without hesitation. There was no doubt in my mind about my own feelings for him. Sophie nodded and placed the veil on my head.
''That's what's important. Go get your man, love, it's time for you to shine.''
I couldn't help the smile on my face and embraced her before we both walked downstairs, in time for the moment where I would walk to the altar and would meet the man of my dreams.
-
We have been waiting half an hour for him and Sophie and Heather said he was nowhere to be seen.
I was worried that he left me behind at the altar, that he changed his mind last minute and didn't want me in his life anymore, but that wasn't him. The Stephen Strange I know wouldn't do that, ever.
Sophie returned and had worry etched on her face.
''Do you have any idea where he could be?''
I thought for a second when it came to mind. He mentioned this morning that he had some final business at the Sanctum. Maybe he's still there, lost track of time, and getting ready for this moment. I gathered my skirt in my hands and rushed onto the street.
Everyone I passed by, stared at me in curiosity to see a bride running in her heels.
A few streets further down I arrived at the Sanctum. Without a doubt, I opened the front door and took in the silence. But, I heard faint voices coming from the main room.
I walked over gently, trying not to disturb them with the clicking of my heels. Mostly because I wanted to know who it were.
I saw Stephen - all dressed in his tuxedo, which made my heart skip a beat - and a woman with red flowy hair in front of him. Her back was turned to me but I knew who it was.
Christine.
My heart broke a little.
Stephen promised I shouldn't have to worry about her, but what was he doing with her rather than being at the church for our wedding? Ours, not theirs.
I hid behind the corner and listened intently.
''-a mistake.''
''How can you come to me and talk that way about her?! I told you,'' Stephen lowered his voice, ''what we had was long over.''
Christine sighed and reached for him. I knew I couldn't blame him for her actions but he didn't even pull back. He just stared at her, intensely into her eyes.
I didn't even hear the sob that escaped.
But they heard.
Stephen met my eyes, but I was already out the Sanctum.
''Y/N!''
The streets were packed. Everyone still stared, but this time they saw someone different. They saw a heartbroken bride instead of a hopeful one.
I couldn't even turn around the corner when someone grabbed a hold of my wrist.
My head faced them as tears ruined my makeup.
''You lied to me.''
''I didn't, sweetheart,'' he took my face in his hands and wiped away the tears, ''I promise.''
''How can I marry you when you won't trust me? Maybe this was a mistake-''
''Don't you dare,'' he interrupted, shaking his head, ''don't you dare call everything we went through a mistake. I never second-guessed what we did, what we saw, what we lived through. Please, don't second-guess my love for you.''
''Your love for me?'' I chuckled, but there was no humor in it, ''You were just with your ex. The one you couldn't forget. Are you going to marry her?''
''Do you think if I was I would ask you? I want to marry you, Y/N, just you.''
Stephen grabbed both my hands and pressed kisses to them, playing with the proposal ring around my finger.
''Marry me, Y/N.'' He mumbled, almost inaudible, but I heard.
I took a deep breath and nodded.
''You better not run late ever again to talk to her.''
''I promise.''
Hand in hand we went to the church.
We did the ceremony. And before we knew it, I was finally Mrs. Strange.
''I now pronounce you,'' the priest smiled at the side of me and Stephen, ''husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.'' Stephen placed his hands on my cheeks and pressed his lips to mine.
He lingered there for a second and slowly pulled away. A smile covered my face when I saw that some of the excess of my pink lips transferred to his. Everyone around us cheered, and we finally had our first party as Mr. and Mrs. Strange.
The Barista and The Superhero (Part. I) - A Steve Rogers/Captain America x Reader Oneshot Story
It was a busy Friday afternoon. A lot of people came from work and treated themselves to a steaming hot cup of coffee before heading home for the weekend. I was multi-tasking with three orders in a most collected calm way when my colleague and best friend Teagan came over.
''Can you stand at the bar for just a minute?''
I nodded, stepping away so she could do my job. Wiping my hands on the apron around my middle, I stood behind the cash register, awaiting for the next customer.
A tall blonde guy who was very attractive stepped forward. ''Good afternoon, I would like two coffees. One black and the other one with a tiny splash of milk and two sugars.''
Listening intently, I typed it all down on the register and called out his payment amount. He gave it to me. I was just about to turn around and give the order to someone else, when an explosion shook the building.
Fear bubbled within me and I quickly excused myself. I entered the side alley where no one ever came and teleported myself to the roof. A huge spacecraft was flying above me, shooting lasers down to everyone on the streets.
I groaned and got rid of my stuff in the corner before closing my eyes. I forced the energy of my powers to course through my veins.
''Hey,'' someone panted as they entered the roof, ''what are you doing?''
I shushed them. When I opened my eyes again, they were glowing a bright blue and a spiral of blue lines floated around my hands and wrists.
I pulled my hands back and with a violent force, I pushed them forward, exploding this stream of light from the palm of my hands which collided with the spacecraft. It was pushed back and I repeated it a few more times, before I calmed down and turned around to see the customer I was tending to before this all went down.
''You might want to go to the beach.''
He stared at me, speechless. I walked past him and grabbed my stuff, creating a portal to my home and closed it behind me with a final look at the man in front of me.
-
The whole ordeal was settled with the intense help of the Avengers. Everyone praised them, and I couldn't care less, because it meant I was still safe.
I was making tomato soup when the buzzer downstairs went. Someone wanted to come. I turned the stove a bit off, wiped my hands on a towel, and walked to the front door. I accepted the call.
Teagan was going to come up in a second for our annual movie night. We had to cancel a few times but we finally found some free time. We were going to binge-watch the entire Pirates of the Caribbean movies - one of my ultimate favorites.
I waited in my front door but was surprised to see that blonde guy again.
''Who are you, and what are you doing here?'' I questioned, scared that HYDRA had finally found me after all these years.
''The name's Steve,'' he spoke calmly, ''and I think we should have a talk.''
I gulped down the lump in my throat and stepped aside, letting him in. Steve entered quietly and stood still in my living room.
''We need to discuss what happened the last time. Who are you?''
I closed the door and decided to just stay there, ''I'm Y/N. And, I would appreciate it, if you wouldn't tell anyone about what you saw.''
''My guess is that a lot of people saw it,'' he smiled gently, ''but I was coming here in the hopes we could discuss something. We might need your help.''
I motioned for him to sit down and I sat a chair at a generous distance from him, ''Who's 'we'?''
''S.H.I.E.L.D. The Avengers,'' he searched for my eyes, ''me.''
''I don't want to bring anyone in danger.''
''You won't. You actually would be saving people from danger.''
I nodded.
I would love to use my abilities for good, but it also endangered me. Maybe I could make a deal. ''Alright. But on one condition.''
Steve stared at me, ''What is it?''
''Teach me how to control it.''
It was quiet for a short time but he eventually spoke up again, ''We have a deal.''
I felt relief flooding my heart.
I spent years and years on the run, scared that I would slip up and signal them where I was right now. But now, I had a team to have my back, a team that could teach me how to be the best version of myself.
''You might want to pack some things. I don't think it's going to be safe for long.''
Standing up, I entered my room and made some smooth movements, all my furnite floating around and growing smaller and smaller, until my entire room was a miniature model of what it was.
I stuffed into my bag and grabbed some other stuff before heading to Steve.
He frowned at me, ''That's all?''
''You'd be surprised how much it actually is,'' I chuckled, ''sometimes my powers come in handy. Now, where are we headed? I need some calls to make beforehand.''
He agreed with it and together we walked downstairs to his car, and we made our way to what would be my new home.
-
We managed to get to our location safely. I was surprised to see that it were the Avengers headquarters.
''I can't stay here.''
Steve frowned at me, turning the key in the ignition to turn the engine off, ''Why not?''
''If anyone- Hell, if HYDRA found out that I was staying here, you would have a freaking target on your back. I can't do that to you.''
''That's very considerate of you,'' Steve chuckled, ''but we already have a target on our back. Dozens, actually. So, whatever you decide, it won't bring us in any more danger than we usually are.''
I huffed, opening the door, ''You're just trying to make me feel better.''
''Is it working?''
I turned to him and couldn't help the smile on my face when I met his hopeful eyes. Side by side, we entered the headquarters and everyone was already gathered at the meeting room.
I couldn't believe I was in the same room as Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Tony Stark, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson.
I waved shyly as I felt all their eyes on me, ''Hi.''
''Oh, look, Captain America decided to grace us with his presence,'' Tony muttered out in annoyance, ''and who's that?''
''Uhm,'' I looked at Steve and he nodded, and I turned back to face them with a kind smile, ''I'm Y/N. It's nice to meet you all.''
''Are you the one he's been telling us about?'' Natasha asked kindly.
I frowned.
I wasn't aware that Steve was talking about me.
A blush crept onto my cheeks and I played it off as if I didn't notice, ''What was he saying?''
''Just that he met a sweet girl in a café who turned out to be stronger than Iron Man.''
Tony stared her down, ''Hey! That's just rude.''
Natasha chuckled and walked up to me, wrapping an arm around me. ''I know we are just going to get along well. Here, let me guide you to your new room.''
I thanked her and walked off with her, turning back to glance once at Steve as he smiled at me.
You're Still The One For Me - A Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange x Reader Oneshot
My whole life my nose was stuck between the pages. Whether it was a fiction about a group of talented misfits saving their world from destruction, or a medical textbook about the current hot topics in the medicinal field, it was where you could find me. I was always there.
So was Stephen Strange.
We bonded over our shared passions and got along quite well. He didn't mock me for my interests in books, because he felt that he had the same thing.
But our friendship soon turned to love. At least, for me. However, he didn't feel the same thing. Not since he laid his eyes on his beautiful colleague Christine Palmer. Whenever he told me about her, I could see it in his eyes. How he cared for her. How he loved her.
And I suppose that was the moment that I was never going to pursue a love that's only written about in books. Because, in my eyes, the only person who could give me the love I wanted, or the one I truly loved, was one who never saw me outside of the friendzone.
Yet, somehow, I still got stuck in the weirdest situations for him. Like this one, for example: I'm his plus-one to the wedding of his love of his life, Christine Palmer.
How did I get here, you ask?
Simple.
Love.
-
''Y/N, you need to hurry,'' Stephen called out to me as I was getting dressed upstairs, his eyes focused on the watch around his wrist, ''they're starting in half an hour!''
''Okay, okay, okay. I'll be right down.'' I screamed down in frustration. I had been struggling with the damn zipper of my dress for ten minutes now and as I was about to give up, the zipper gave in and went all the way up. Satisfied with my look, I finished the final touches of my makeup and ran downstairs with the heels in my hands.
Stephen was standing there, frozen, but the look on his face was sorrow. He always used to think that he was a closed door to me, but I could read him like an open book. There was nothing he could hide from me. But, I always decided to never question it. If he wanted me to know, he would've told me.
''I'd almost mistaken your mood for excitement.'' I chuckled as I let him glare me down.
He shook his head and wrapped his arm around mine, escorting me out the front door of the sanctum where I've been staying the past few weeks.
The only downside of his friendship - beside being stuck in the friendzone - was that all his enemies were out to get me. Ever since I was once kidnapped by some evil guy who was out for him, Stephen hadn't been thrilled about me staying home alone. Without parents, without family and without roommates. That's the moment he had enough and dragged me to his home, the sanctum, just so he could keep a watchful eye on me.
''Are you sure you want to go?'' I asked carefully. I needed to know how he felt about her once and for all. Just to give me some closure, I suppose.
He sighed, ''I have no choice. She might be a painful part of my past, she's also a dear friend; I want to be there for her at one of the happiest days of her life.''
There was no stopping the smile on my face. The man I know as Stephen Strange was far from truthful. Especially about his emotions. But I could see for once, that he had accepted the way their story ended.
I know for a fact that it hurts, but once you do, it's way easier. You won't have a heartache whenever you lay your eyes on them.
I squeezed his arm as we passed the street, Stephen making sure that we will both be there safely, ''I'm proud of you, Stephen.''
His head turned to me and he searched for my gaze.
Once he found it, I made sure that he could see the admiration in them that I've always found for it.
A smile came onto his face, ''You always do know how to cheer me up.''
''It's what friends are for.'' My heart ached at my own words.
-
The wedding went smoothly. Stephen hadn't objected and the ceremony went as well as they had hoped it would be. Stephen was mingling with the rest, greeting his old colleagues, as I stood beside Christine with a cocktail in my hand.
''Thank you.'' Christine muttered as she smiled at me.
A frown took over, as I couldn't think of the reason why she was thanking me, ''For what?''
''For taking care of him. I don't know what would've happened if you weren't there for him.''
''He would still have you,'' I took a sip from my drink and raked my eyes over the crowd, my heart jumping when they fell on Stephen, ''I know for a fact that he cares more about that.''
Christine frowned. She placed her drink down and stepped in front of me. Worry was etched in her eyes.
''What are you rambling about? You're his life, Y/N.''
I sighed, shaking my head, ''I know that is the truth.''
''It's far from the truth, listen,'' she sat down with me in a quiet spot and lowered her voice, ''don't tell I said anything, but Stephen has had an eye on a certain something for quite some time now.''
I nodded. I knew about this. ''Yes,'' I leaned closer to her, ''you.''
She shook her head rapidly. ''No, no, no,'' a sigh escaped her lips, ''it's you.''
My heart jumped.
Could it be the truth? Could he really, really have chosen me?
I didn't dare to get my hopes up.
Standing up from my spot, I excused myself and ran outside for some air.
No one was out there, only the occasional passengers that needed to go through this side street to get to their own destination. I took a big gulp of air and relaxed against the wall beside the entrance.
I had some quiet time for about five minutes when the door opened and a man looked around in worry.
Once he looked at me, I could see from my corner that it was Stephen. And, he saw me too.
''I was wondering where you went, even though Christine said not to worry.'' He spoke gently, as if he was afraid to push me away.
I averted my gaze from him. ''Christine's right,'' my voice came out frigid, but I tried to pretend I didn't notice, ''you worry too much.''
There was a comforting silence between for a second as we stood side by side, watching the people pass us by as if we were invisible to the eye.
As I was sinking more and more into complete relaxation, I felt a tingling sensation in my hand. Something feathered along my hand. My gaze went down, and I felt a smile on my face as I saw Stephen's fingers extended, hoping for a return.
I gently responded with the same gesture, and it only took him a few seconds for him to wrap his hand around mine.
''No matter what went down between Christine and me,'' his eyes sought for mine and held them captive with his intense stare, ''you're still the one for me.''
''You're still the one for me, as well.''
We looked at each other for a second when I smiled brightly and pressed a kiss against his cheek. I pulled back slowly, lingering for just a second as I squeezed his hand, ''Let's return before we worry the bride and groom too much.''
''Only if you promise to go on a date with me.''
Stephen's reply caught me off-guard, but I still managed to accept his proposal. We walked side by side into the building again, both oblivious to the fact that we were getting stares at our still intertwined hands.
