Hello and welcome to this post-Turkey Day Musical Monday. I hope your tummies have recouped and the winter weather has greeted you with open arms. This week's highlighted musical is a title that I've been somewhat familiar with in the past, but not as much as now. This is a musical certainly worth getting to know, so here we go!
Musical Monday date: 11/27/2018
Musical: Blood Brothers
Book, Music, and Lyrics: All by Willy Russell
Broadway Run: April 25, 1993 - April 30, 1995
Awards Won: Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Mark Michael Hutchinson)/1993 Theatre World Award (Stephanie Lawrence)
Other: Blood Brothers' opening night performance marked the Broadway debut for ten actors out of the sixteen-member cast.
Fun Fact: Broadway audiences also know Willy Russell as the playwright of the one-woman play, Shirley Valentine.
There is a London cast recording available for your listening pleasure, so certainly look it up and check out Willy Russell's score! Next week, we will greet a "farewell" musical from 1993 that was also nominated for a slew of categories. Until then, well, you know what to do. Go see a show!

The lady and I have just been to see Willy Russell's Blood brother - wow! It had me hooked and feeling every emotion possible; mostly giggles in the first half then tears (a plenty) in the second half! Good night Micky and Eddie 😭
