I'm at wit's end with Games of Thrones, but my one saving grace is that, when all is said and done, Sansa Stark will win the game. Not just win, mind you, but win so thoroughly that she torches the pieces and writes the rules afresh.
I think I hold this frail hope in my heart because of all characters in play, Sansa’s victory would be the most rewarding. She’s not a psycho killer, she’s not a mother of dragons, she’s not a queen-in-hiding, she doesn’t even have her direwolf anymore. She’s just a young woman from the wastelands of the North who was left stranded by family in a city of corruption. She’s got no weapons but her brains. She’s got a look that says she’s imagining your death, always. She knows that to get ahead you can’t use what you don’t have, so she’ll play the damsel in distress if she has to. She’ll hide behind her bodyguards if she has to, let them fall half in love with her if she has to. She’ll listen to the lessons her chessmaster mentor has for her, but she’ll listen only as long as she has to, and when the time comes, she’ll show him who’s the student and who’s truly the master –
