wanna inconvenience your whumpees? or even better, inconvenience your caretakers? especially in winters? give them dry skin.
☝️🤓
hold up let me elaborate. Really dry skin on the back of their hands. it hurts like hell, constantly need to moisturise, it has stinging pain when you put on the cream. Sometimes you don’t have cream, or you forget to put it on bcs you get used to the ache, and then eventually realise the dry skin is cracking and there’s spots of blood peaking through. Generally the worst of it is centred in the area between fingers, most prominently on the back of your hand in the area between the thumb and index finger.
Worst of it is generally in the shaded regions. Moving, flexing, stretching your hands hurts and stings. One hand could have more than the other, or maybe both hands hurt equally. in really bad cases the back of your fingers up to the PIP join has dryness too. Also the sides of your wrist. All these dry area get stiff and really grey looking, rough to the touch too.

"Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love." - Hamilton Wright Mabie
I love that the first day of the winter is in the same week as Christmas, I always seem to forget that it is and it’s the nicest surprise every year. Here’s what I’d love to do this season.
Go skiing.
Eat ramen for the first time (I know, it’s insane this hasn’t happened).
Make some Christms-y appetizers (cranberry grilled cheese, charcuterie wreath, etc.)
Get the lobster bisque from The Soupman (the Seinfeld soup nazi) near Central Park (I haven’t eaten it in years and it’s incredible).
Find a snowmobile and ride it. This one will be hard to do because I don’t know anyone with a snowmobile (mental note: make a resolution to befriend snowmobile types).
I’ll also watch some of these movies, obviously. And I hope you write a winter list of your own because no one is going to enjoy your life for you.
And if you’re stuck on ideas, you can see my past winter lists below: Winter List 2022, Winter List 2021, Winter List 2020, Winter List 2019, Winter List 2018, Winter List 2017 and Winter List 2015.
Winter List 2021
Is it insane that I still make these seasonal lists when the world is crumbling around us? Hope not! I think it’s so beneficial to come up with fun little ideas of things you’d like to do and then to actually do them. Yes, I pay bills and live an adult life, but if you aren’t having any small/silly adventures on a weekly basis, I think you’re living wrong…? Here’s what I want to do during this beautiful, snowy, perfect season that is finally upon us.
I would love to either ride a snowmobile or go skiing. Either one will be an acceptable snow transaction.
Eat a latka. I never have and I’d like to.
Waste away in Margaritaville. In Times Square. I know that this sounds so insanely lame, but I really want to and I refuse your judgement.
Visit the Transit Museum because I’ve never gone and it seems like my kinda place.
Eat moussaka. I never have and it seems like a good winter dish.
As always, I encourage you to create your own list because we’re all rotting away and it might be nice to try something new.
