Because what if, after Thunderbolts and No Way Home— Bucky ran into their friendly neighborhood Spiderman. Rather, he found him getting his butt handed to him in a fight. So, Bucky offers him a hand and starts pulling threads together that this isn’t the same kid he fought in an airport all those years ago.
What if Bucky noticed something was off?
What if he offered him a place at the tower as an unofficial Thunderbolts?
Saw that some people were talking about Peter and Bucky being father and son, so i wanted to rec some fics about them being father and son and also them being good pals :))) i really recommend reading all of these. <333
(14/05/25, updated with a few more recs and the fics are properly linked)
Bucky being a father figure
taking my time but i don't know where This one might be them being good pals but i think of it as Bucky being a father figure
timshel (series) This is a series but the first one, is the one i rcommend the most, its about Peter growing up in Hydra with Bucky, warning for a lot of angst (espescially the first one), when i first read it, i read it all in 3 hours and cried throughout the entire thing XD
broken wing. This one is another Hydra Peter, it's post-civil war, it's mainly Steve being a parental figure to peter, but Bucky is still there, anyway its very good and steve and bucky are pining idiots (but who's surprised?)
Beautiful Ghosts This one is about Bucky living on his own pre-civil war, and he doesnt have any memory of anyone until one day he remebers, and its sad but has a happy ending :)
Bucky Barnes, the Good Dad (series) This one's a short series and so soo cute, its baby peter and dad Bucky
Astronomy In Reverse AMAZING. oml it's soooo goooddddd, it's pre-civil war (pretty fuckin angsty btw, but i mean, its bucky barnes and peter parker)
Stucky Shares Custody of Peter Parker (series) This series is so fucking good, the first fic is my fav, Bucky escapes from hydra with peter (who's 12 in this series im pretty sure), and gives him to steve, it's so good. Bucky also saves the Maximoff twins and they all become a family its so fucking cute, and obviously angsty, since y'know, hydra.
longing, rusted, seventeen, daybreak This one also has irondad but i still really enjoyed it (again, very angsty due to hydra shit)
5 Times Peter met the Winter Soldier SO GOOD. So cute, i loved it.
Bucky and peter being good pals
The Falcon & The Winter Soldier + Spider-Man This one is set during TFATWS (its basically peter tagging alongside Sam and Bucky, uninvited) and it has sambucky.
so this is christmas (war is over) This one is set after No Way Home where only Clint and Bucky remember peter
anger managment This one is sad & angsty, Peter was kidnapped by hydra for a while, and this is after he gets rescued, Bucky helps him recover
Baking at the Witching Hour Peter tries baking. Bucky is horrified. They bake together.
Peter & Bucky are Pals (series) Ohmylord, this series is so cute and amazing, its set in the same universe as owlet's Infinite Coffee & Protection Detail series (which i extremlyyyyy recommend oml its amazing and a classic) but you don't need to read that to understand this one, and this one has irondad but its so minor and Bucky is--in my opinion--much more of a father figure to peter and you can easily skip over the irondad parts if you want.
Based off of Peter & Bucky are Pals (series) Short series, Bucky and Peter are so cute, as always. Set in the same universe as the last one.
You can definitely find more but these are the ones i have bookmarked
Actually...i do have a summer job but moneyyyyyyyyyyy, so yeah.
Alsooo can someone hit me in the head pls bc now i got a new fixation and i want to write a fic for that now (curse you tiktok)
★ Winterdad and Spiderson 🕷
OK this can go either way. So post–No Way Home, everyone forgets who Peter Parker is. He’s totally alone, no connections, no May, no Ned, no MJ. He’s just some invisible 17-year-old living in a crappy apartment in Queens and still doing the whole Spider-Man thing in secret.
Meanwhile, Bucky Barnes (who’s trying to stay off the radar after all the Hydra mess and him getting better in Wakanda) ends up renting the apartment next door. He’s laying low, minding his own business, eating canned soup like an old man — and then this awkward, kind of jittery kid knocks on his door one day like:
“Hi! I’m Peter, I live next door. Thought I’d say hi. I also brought you some takeout because, I dunno, moving sucks.”
Bucky’s like. Okay. Weird. But thanks.
And then slowly — like over several weeks — they start to sort of… coexist. Peter's polite and quiet and always looks exhausted. Bucky sees him on the fire escape at 2 a.m. staring at the skyline. There’s something off about him. Familiar.
And then one day Bucky casually mentions Peter to the landlord, and the landlord goes:
“There’s no Peter Parker living in this building.”
And Bucky’s like “What.”
Cue slow unraveling where Bucky starts digging and realizes:
There are no records of Peter Parker.
This kid seems too good at patching himself up.
He has a Spider-Man–shaped hole in his memory he can’t explain.
And now the kid next door, who talks too fast and flinches at loud noises, who’s way too smart and heartbreakingly lonely…
Might be tied to something Bucky was meant to forget.
So he starts watching him closer. Not in a creepy way, just... protective. Curious. Because whoever this Peter kid is, he’s not normal.
BUT
I dont really know every movie or the storyline of every avengers film. I mostly just want to write Bucky kind of taking peter in as like a big brother/dad thing. Maybe peters mom did secret work for hydra and the avengers found so they try to find peter even though there are no documents of the kid. I think i would mostly go to the daily stuff and not a lot about the avengers.
idk if i´ll actually write it bc its mostly wordvomit right now but god i want some ficsss of them being son and dad If you know any good onesssss plssssssss send me the link :´)
(first born, idk why I just decided yeah I know Harley probably should be first but this is how it is in my head)
Peter calls Bucky Papa, Steve Da (or Da's) and Tony Mom as a baby and Daddy when he gets a bit bigger.
Peter had them stumped the first couple years but by the time he's 10 and gives sassy looks all his dad's know he's Tony and Buckys. His face is a near perfect blend of them both (I'm imagining Tony's eyes and eyebrows and Buckys jaw and mouth.)
Because of this Steve overcompensated with spoiling Peter because he wanted his son to know he loved him so much for being both of his partners and that he considers him his own anyways.
If anybody ever brings it up Peter just rolls his eyes and says how he loves his Dad because Peter grows up incredibly secure in their relationship with the love he receives from all three of them, the idea Steve isn't 'really' his son never crosses his mind.
Also because Peter personality wise IS the most like Steve and really admires his dad for the kind hearted thoughtful person that he is, but can also see the more intimate parts he hides from most the world (and even his younger children, a little. Harley and Morgan definitely see him as being a superhero and their perfect Dad while Peter has been there for him on his darkest days.)
there's something about the deep longing ache behind Steves eyes that never leaves despite getting his happy ending that Peter can almost instinctually understand in a way even Tony and Bucky can't or actively shun at times.
(Tony feels guilty knowing Steve still feels out of time despite his best efforts even though Steve knows it's not his fault and reassures him of this, it still hurts him.
Bucky can't even imagine going back to the 40s because of what he's been through. Steve understands this as well so neither of his partners can sympathize with him in this regard making him feel lonely at times.)
Peter is the only child born with powers and his rival Steve's. Bucky trains him regularly in everything but using his enhanced abilities because he's still terrified of himself, after all these years.
In his worst nightmares he hurts Peter and entirely refuses to use his strength near him ESPECIALLY when he was a baby. He refused to sleep in the same room as baby Peter. For years Peter didn't even fully understand Bucky was enhanced like Steve aside from on TV because he never saw it in person.
Steve knows what it's like to feel like a freak and helps Peter through his awkward phase the most. Peter loves him because of that. Harley is secretly jealous of the bond they have because of it.
Aside from powers Bucky trains Peter on how to do everything in life. His homework? He's there, despite Tony being way more helpful because he never really payed attention in school before dropping out, but he's gonna find out what algebra means alongside Peter for the first time damnit.
Fishing and hunting? Yup. Even though they live in New York and the only thing Bucky has ever been trained to hunt was people, he's going to figure out how to do it Incase Peter needs to know.
Same with Technology (which Tony is also better at and in the end ends up teaching the both of them at the same time) and sewing clothes and identifying plants and shooting guns despite Steve protesting that they're too violent. Incase. Incase. Incase.
He teaches Peter how to blend in with crowds and in camouflage. Incase. He makes him join Steve on his morning runs everyday. Incase. He teaches Peter how to drive at 10, incase. Of where to hide a bag in their house full of clothing and a flashlight and food and a first aid kit. Incase. Tony knows about it. Tony doesn't acknowledge it. Incase.
Because all three of them know, deep down, despite the therapy and the reassurances from his loving husbands and the finest technology money can buy installed in their house that Buckys deepest, darkest fear is that of their three children HYDRA would kidnap Peter.
Steve tries to ignore it like Tony does, but every time he teaches his son self defense it's in the back of his mind. Every morning on their jog. Peter is the child most like him he knows. Idealistic. Unmoored.
He's as innocent as Steve was the first time he picked up a rifle. He just didn't like bullies. Tiny Steve had no idea what was to come. How Buckys cold hand would feel as it slipped out of his. The things they did during the war. The way it sat in his bones after.
Peter being kidnapped by HYDRA wasn't just Buckys worst fear. It was the worst reality any of them could think of. Peter gone for even a few days would crush the joy out of his soul, like a beautiful glass ornament being shattered into dust.
Tony built things. He built Peter a suit. He helped his son make his web shooters and smiled the whole time, altering them for optimization, they tried different chemical combinations for his webs together.
Tony thought if Peter became a hero his chances were best. So he let his husbands and Clint and Nat train him from a young age despite how the idea of Peter in danger physically hurt his chest. It was incredibly ironic how throwing his kid at alien invasions was somehow the best way to keep him safe. Steve hated it. Tony never said aloud just how much he hated it.
How it burned his blood. How Tony wanted to lock Peter in his basement before HYDRA could do it first. He knew that was his worst fears talking. That Bucky and Steve would never let it happen. He still hugged Peter for a little long, though. That was his Baby.
Peter always knew Tony was kind of a workaholic. He didn't know his Dad's restlessness was caused by him. Steve wanted to make the world a better place for his kids. Tony wanted to make the world safe for them, everyday. Peter stood while Steve gives speeches and laughs at the parts he found cheesey afterwords. And when Tony couldn't sleep for days he'd beg him to watch Star wars just to get him to fall asleep on the couch with him.
When the two of them where busy though and the baby was asleep and Harley was out with his large group of friends (a condition Peter could eternally never relate to) it was just him and Bucky in silence, reading two different books sitting across from one another in the same room.
It was a rough day. It always was. But she did it, she received the filed from the empty SHIELD household. It brought tears to her eyes it was the letter, the handwritten letter from Steve, the letter that informed her about her brothers death.
Rebecca chuckled as she thought about her older brother he definitely wasn’t the same Bucky she knew back in the day, but he was still alive. And yet she remembered how badly it hurt her to find it the heartbreaking news.
Dear Rikki,
I hate to have to be there but one to break the news to you. I know you loved him but so did I. And I failed. I couldn’t save him, I couldn’t keep my promise to you, I promise we’ll get through this together. He was my brother as much as he was yours. And we’ll drown all of our problems in whiskey, even if I cant get drunk anymore. It will be fun watching you down whiskey like a man again, we’ll pour him a glass too.Rikki I miss him and I’m sorry I couldn’t save him.
- Steve Rogers.
Tears rolled down her face as she read the letter. At least she made her irrational decisions that brought her back to her brother. He couldn’t scold her now.
okay so first of all CABNW/Thunderbolts is totally bringing the fandom back to life (TOWER FICS ARE BACK BB)
second of all I just got this idea for a bob x reader where reader is like Bucky’s daughter in a way, and he’s been teaching her how to use her powers (invisibility/force fields) and then she meets bob and they bond over their shared trauma. LIKE THEY BOTH JUST SO CUTE AND they both like gen z babies so they’re always sending each other memes and Bucky is like a father figure to bob as well UGH DO I WRITE IT I CAN JUST PICTURES THEM BEING SO CUTE
