Gah. Dick's parents seem like the types to talk and explain rather than just let him assume Mrs. Smith screams her husband's name every night because she REALLY LIKES THAT NAME. 2) I know the story's lowkey Dick's POV, but due to that we're not left knowing a lot about what Dick looks like or how he changes. Like, we know Clint's over six foot but not how tall Dick started as or became. Character limit - <3, Tess
And continuing on with that thought (and yours...), I also HC Dick as definitely the youngest person at Haly's - and possibly the only real child - so I see the other circus members as very protective of Dick as well. So, maybe of the Smiths are parked near the Graysons in that town that night, they keep things a little more...subtle, lol. But also, in Florida, during the winters, they're able to spread out a lot more, so they have some privacy and aren't living on top of each other like they are during the performing season when they're crammed into fairgrounds.
You're right about not getting the visual of Dick, since it's his POV and he wouldn't be spending time reflecting on what he looks like. Dick is a bit smaller in canon than Clint (more like 5'9" or 5' 10" when full grown in canon, I think), and muscular but in a leaner way, not a bulky way, because of his background as an acrobat. He's got black hair and blue eyes, and he's canonically Romani, so his skin would be more olive toned than fair, though the comics don't focus much on that aspect of his heritage so they don't usually give him that characteristic. I'm partial to this image as what Dick might have looked like around toward the end of Winter Quarters when he's 18ish years old:
Thanks for asking, anon!
