Happy weekend! Happy Saturday! Went past these beautifully scented jasmine on the way home from acupuncture & therapy for tendinitis last night. The treatment is helping my thumb a lot, but it's still pretty sore - I will really have to give working from my phone a rest as I use my thumbs extensively for this. Wait, I could always try a tablet stylus or a different finger - there's always a way to get round these sorts of problems ..... Meanwhile I've succeeded in giving Lily her worm tablet - she was not amused. Yesterday she'd managed to give me a vicious bite when I attempted it. Today I had a cunning plan: I crushed up the tablet & diluted it in a little warm water, put it in a syringe (no needle) & squirted it down her throat. I always wrap her in a towel when giving her meds so I don't get scratched. Today's method worked & I didn't get bitten. Happy Friday friends! I'm so happy my #daffs came up & also that my herbs saw me through winter. I wonder what'll be greeting me on Ios - a lot of clover no doubt - but I'm hoping some of the things I planted last November survived. I'm getting great pleasure seeing what I planted grow. I took some rose cuttings from my cousin's garden here - they, in turn come from my late Yiayia's garden - & they've rooted. I want to plant them over Uli's ashes in my garden on Ios. The roses have a beautiful scent to them & somehow I like the thought of my Yiayia looking over us in Ios - I was named after Yiayia Lambi & although I didn't know her well & she died when I was young, I've always felt a special closeness to her. It was far too lovely a day to sit hunched over a laptop at home sorting out paperwork. Besides my thumb is really giving me some gip, so I'll have to give typing a miss. Walked to M&S to pick up some supplies for Ios - unfortunately they didn't have the maple syrup roasted parsnip crisps ..... apparently nobody bought them apart from me, so they won't be bringing them anymore 🙁 Shame - they were good!!! I'm far too lazy to straighten my hair every time I wash it, so this is how my new haircut works au naturel. Not too shabby - can rock 2 looks for the price of one: everyday curly, & more elegant straight. Sorted! I'll put some colour in tonight to jazz it up a bit. I've managed to sort out some things for Ios: phoned the plumber & he'll come round to the house on Sunday afternoon to discuss the washing machine & other little bits & bobs I want done, & left a message for an electrician who specialises in air conditioning/heaters. It's so good to be able to give friends' kids some work. Uli being Mr Fixit, I never had to worry about these things before ..... well it's about time I learned. This is my finished pic of Uli. A friend of ours, Kate had taken this photo at Matt & Jess's surprise wedding celebrations at Harmony. Dress code was white - an easy option for #ttwd, but I had to buy something new. I probably wouldn't have made this pic if Molly hadn't asked me to. Billy & her want to hang it in Lord Byron above his favourite table. I'm so chuffed & honoured that they asked me to create this - I'd wanted to make something to commemorate Uli, but I didn't know where to start - the subject matter was too vast heheheh! The minute they asked me, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I see him here looking on at life & people's antics and being amused ... enjoying being there to be part of it all. In the background I've written some words that remind me of him. Blue was his favourite colour - when I first met him he'd painted his little finger nail dark blue - the colour of his car. As I was working on this project good #memories filled my mind - there were a few tears too, but mainly a feeling of contentment & gratitude. I'm so excited - I've finished my picture of Uli. I combined all sorts of techniques from art journaling and had great fun doing it - as well as a few tears. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow with proper lighting. Had these #zoodles for dinner with asparagus, tuna, wilted spinach, pine kernels & capers. Well I'm trying to cut down on wheat-based products, so zoodles instead of pasta. Gonna call it a day. Waiting for the bus. I guess a lot of people are heading towards a beach, there's a lot of traffic. That's the wonderful thing about #livingingreece - you're never too far from the sea. I knew there were #pet taxis in #Athens #Greece, but it's the first time I've seen one - such a useful service. Just look at those #blueskies - what a glorious #sunnyday. We had a little fracas on the bus, which some guy trying to start a fight. Yes, I didn't keep silent, but all's well & he's calmed down now.
