WIP Folder Meme

Ehehehe. I haven't worked out the full particulars on this yet but the idea of learning where an assassin keeps all their hidden knives on their person is so intimate and requires so much trust. And I doubt crows trust easily, especially Lucanis after he was betrayed and locked in the Ossuary for a year so I wanted to explore that aspect and how he trusts Rook with every part of himself and it's her turn to reciprocate. And then he sticks his foot in his mouth XD.

Mierda, there was something so intimate about letting him watch her undress, and if she hadn't trusted him implicitly, she wouldn't have ever entertained the idea. Though if the heat in his eyes was any indication, learning where she stored each and every knife on her person was the last thing on his mind. Her breath hitched as he stepped closer, eyes lingering on her favorite dagger; the one she had strapped to her thigh at all times. Lucanis reached out, fingertips occasionally grazing her skin as he trailed them over the hilt of the knife, something sparking in his memory at the sight of it. “This is…” Brown eyes met blue with a questioning look. “The knife I gifted to Viago years ago, as a token of my affection for him.” Her face fell and Lucanis instantly regretted the words. The knife had arrived on their doorstep eight years ago, with a note that had read “With fondest regards, Lucanis Dellamorte of House Dellamorte”, but with poison being his preferred weapon and her loving to dual-wield daggers, Viago had assumed it was a gift for her and immediately given the knife to his younger sister. If she was being honest with herself, he'd mentioned in passing to Emmrich that he'd had a crush on Viago but that it had been years ago and Viago had met it with indifference–probably because at that point he was so smitten with Teia it bordered on obsession–so she'd put the comment out of her mind.

Because I never came up with an actual good title to that series. XD

The third part is very much in 'I vaguely know where this has to go but I have no idea how to get there' stages so tbh, I'm not sure I'll ever finish it. But the middle has a reasonable chance of getting done in the near-ish future.

She could see him dragging it out, keeping her on the hook, as easily as she could have seen him using it sooner and drawing them closer into his machinations. She studies the simple message. You promised a favor. Meet me here. Followed by coordinates and signed, your mutual annoyance.

this one I really, really do want to complete - but I mostly have some fragments and a great idea: This take place after The Vault, and while Emmanellain and Meryta is broken up, they still find some comfort in each other. It's sad. It has so many Fortemps headcanons.

the starter, because I love it very much:

“I hated him for the longest time, you know?” Meryta almost leaves right there, Emmanellain sitting in his divan, hands in his hair. She came to him for – comfort perhaps, or commiseration. She didn’t come for whatever this is, but she’s not sure she can bear the haunted look in Alpinaud’s eyes either, nor the grief of Edmund. “That’s what Mother taught me,” Emmanellain continues, “but my brother is – was – very hard to hate.”

and a bit later

“Tomorrow I’ll be off, I’m going to kill them all. Thordan, the Heaven’s Ward.” It burns in her. She wants to tear them all apart. No matter the cost. Emmanellain looks forlorn, then his mouth sets. “I should go with you. I should avenge my brother,” his voice almost breaks. “Please don’t go, Emmanellain. It’s not – not everyone has to fight. Not everyone should have to fight.” “He trained me, you know? Said I’d learn to fight eventually. I was never as good as him. I can never be as good as him. Perhaps if – I can’t be him, I can’t. Oh Meryta, girl, he was always so nice, and now! “ She put a finger on his lips. “My Father…” “Your father doesn’t have to decide what you do. He shouldn’t.” she brushes his hair back from his face. “I’ll avenge your brother, I promise. I want you to stay safe.” She doesn’t know what else to do, so she leans in and kisses him. She’s desperate, hungry and ungentle. It’s not fair to Emmanellain, she knows this, she will not, she cannot come back to him, but she needs this now and so does he.

I really love these bits, but unfortunately there's not a lot more. I have thoughts though!

Yes, I think it's pretty interesting too. :) It's a long theory-meta about Aerea Targaryen and Balerion's unfortunate adventure in Valyria as hinted to in F&B, and what I think the burning "worms with faces" and "snakes with hands" that infested her are. (spoilers: magically mutated descendants of post-Doom Valyrians and dragons, there's more details than that, but that's basically the thing.) It relates to my blood of the dragon theory, goes into the example of the horrific Valyrian colony of Gogossos, and deals with some speculation about future events where I think Dany and her united khalasar of khalasars will travel the demon roads back to the Free Cities and pass the last remaining Valyrian city, Mantarys, said to be inhabited by monsters. (I have some mental images of a sort of Mad Max thing happening there, don't know if it actually will happen but it would be awesome.)

I keep meaning to write up and post the whole thing properly, and only get a few sentences out before getting distracted. But I will get it done eventually!

So Yassen has Alex captive in a cabin somewhere really snowy (Russia? Norway? who knows) and took away Alex's shoes so he can't run. But then Alex isn't going to let that stop him, except his escape attempt does not go as planned...

The plastic bags, the ones he had taped around his socks to make them waterproof, had ripped and torn, and snow had started to get in the wool of the socks. A quick check revealed that his other foot was in the same condition. Alex stared down the path, torn with indecision. He'd already come so far, but what were the odds that he would find somewhere to shelter and warm his feet before they got frozen? He remembered Ian's lessons on surviving in extreme cold: wet clothes could be a death sentence. Maybe he could push through, accept the fact that he would get frostbite in his feet as long as he got to destination, but Alex didn't even know where he was going. It was foolishness to continue. Which left going back, to the cabin and to Yassen. Alex glanced back the way he'd come. His tracks were still there, clear in the moonlight shining through the trees. Would Yassen be awake by the time Alex returned? Would he know Alex had slipped out? The odds were not in his favour, but as cold seeped into his toes, Alex decided he'd rather face Yassen's punishment than dying of exposure when his feet gave out underneath him. At least Yassen had seemed to want him alive. With a dread settling cold in his stomach, and his feet slowly turning numb, Alex started retracing his steps.

van speech immortal siblings au??? 👀

Yeah, although technically the Van Speech isn't supposed to be the focus of the shot - just a prelude to 6000-year-old-Nico going Murderous Cryptid on Keane's ass during the plane travel, but I was starting a bit earlier than that, with the scene in the van. I haven't touched it in... a million years, but what I've written so far is a nice combination of words, so it's still alive...

Snippet for you!

The first thing that comes back, after his heartbeat, is his sense of touch. His instincts take stock of his surroundings even as his mind is still sluggish and his lungs barely bring in air – he’s horizontal, the ground is hard and vibrating. His ankles feel heavy and constricted, and his wrists are too close together to be in a natural position. His mouth feels like he’s chewed chalk, and the smell – leather, metal, stagnant air…

Fingers on his shoulder. The touch is fleeting, barely there – but Nico would recognize it everywhere, no matter when.

Yusuf.

His ears are catching up now. He hears a thud, a harsh male voice bark an order (English, his mind supplies). Then, his name.

“Nico, destati, psyche mou, wake up!” Yusuf is babbling, mixing Italian and Greek, his voice too high.

He’s panicking.

Fuck.

“I said-”

“I know what you said, what you gonna do, kill me?!”

They’ve been captured then. And if his love is snapping at their jailers like this, then Nico must have been unconscious longer than usual.

As he tries to wake himself up, Nico feels dread crawl up his stomach. Where are the others? Has Andromache managed to keep them safe and escape? Have they been caught too? He’d promised Yusuf he’d never let anyone chain him down again…

“TARDISes don’t know Time Lords are sentient” duuuude this sounds like an INCREDIBLE premise??! I need to know more

I’m really excited about this one!! Basically I got to thinking—so we know that the relationship between the Doctor and their TARDIS is sort of unusually close, right? Most Time Lords don’t have this kind of intense bond with a specific time travel capsule (except in versions of canon where they do, obviously, shh). They know the capsules have some telepathic capability but they definitely think of them as vehicles, not fellow-sentients. It makes sense to me that the Doctor has discovered the Old Girl’s sentience and become friends with her over the course of many adventures, not immediately.

So I thought... what if the exact reverse is also true? What if TARDISes have their own civilization, telepathic and transdimensional, and think the Time Lords are their tools just as much as the Time Lords think that about them? Maybe they don’t understand spoken language and so they don’t think humanoids are capable of independent thought—they believe they’re just a useful component of an interface with four-dimensional reality. A TARDIS on her travels goes exactly where she pleases, on a transdimensional level; the squishy organic entering coordinates is just to help her focus her mind!

So this is the story of how one TARDIS stole a Time Lord and ran away...

The first part might be ready to post quite soon, if I decide to post it in parts. I had to watch Edge of Destruction, which now I have.
