Does it drive anyone else absolutely bonkers? This quote and the "we are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn't burn" drive me up the goddamn wall tbh.

"They" didn't burn people for being witches. They burned them for heresy.

I think it's important that people realize that witchcraft isn't as straight forward as "everyone does this thing that leads to that thing." Usually witchcraft is largely and deeply personal and depends largely on where you live. There is no one way to be a witch, because "witch" is a very vague label. Quite frankly I largely prefer when witches gather their own materials so long it isn't incredibly difficult to find and the only way to get it is through purchase. Especially when it comes to herbs and flowers, I always collect from my local flora. Remember the intention is more important than the material itself and is more of a manifestation of your intention. Anyways point is... there isn't any set in stone way to be a witch, and likely your craft will develope over the years. To me the point of witchcraft will always be to connect to earth, sky and water.

There’s a recent surge of reality shifting posts on my dash and let me be clear, keep that shit on your side of the highway. I watched “reality shifting” destroy one of my high school best friends.

She was a kind, outgoing, bubbly person who journaled about everything, sang songs a little off key, and cared for everything and everyone.

She started RS in our sophomore year. I remember her being so excited about the prospects of talking to her favorite characters from gravity falls or fort Salem, and me finding the whole thing to be a little too much.

We didn’t bring it up much after so It honestly slipped my mind for the longest, but she began noticeably changing. She no longer spoke unless spoken too, and always seemed to be looking just too far to the left. When she would speak, it was short and reserved. You couldn’t keep her focused for more than 5 minutes.

A year went by and I all but stopped hearing from her. Her attendance faltered and she failed every class our junior year. I later heard from her younger sister that she would spend almost 15 hrs a day “sleeping”. It immediately dawned on me what was happening, she was RSing her entire life away and no one except me knew what was going on. And even then, I didn’t really know. She mentioned it one time a year before but… I wish I would have paid more attention when she first told me about it because I can’t help but feel somewhat responsible for her. She was one of my best friends.

I had to tell her parents what she was doing. They took her to see a psychiatrist and she was subsequently placed in an inpatient unit so she could learn how to cope in the real world. I haven’t heard from her since.

It went from harmless dreams, to her every waking moment. It consumed her until there was barely anything left.

This may be controversial but I firmly believe reality shifting is just extreme maladaptive daydreaming/lucid dreaming and it needs to stay on the other side of the fence. It is not magic. It is harmful.

ANOTHER WITCH RANT

I got a lil bone to pick with popular treatment of the Celtic wheel of the year. I’ve been hearing nonstop: “Halloween is over now” the pumpkins in the dumpsters behind the grocery stores. all the candy and everything is on discount decorations are removed, but In the western world, Samhain doesn’t start in late September. That’s Mabon and that is the second harvest festival. Yall! they get everything so backwards. If you follow the European Celtic wheel of the year (obviously not everyone does but a lot of Americans identify with it) Samhain starts NOW. It wasn’t last month. It didn’t start two months ago or whatever during the autumnal equinox it starts now and it continues until Yule! This is the witch’s new year. In the Northern Hemisphere, The old year is dying and that is Samhain. It is time for nature’s mortal dormancy. This is not Yule season yet. That doesn’t come until the winter solstice when we start to look for the sun to be welcomed back but right now all the solar Gods have began to descend to the underworld! I don’t like that Halloween is considered done by the time the actual day gets here because it’s not done it is just beginning.

Any of you witchy types feeling bummed that it’s over please know that it is not over. It’s not over! Keep carving pumpkins! Dare to hold your decorations in place and defy the spirit of Walmart! keep connecting to your ancestors, don’t let capitalism dictate nature!!

OK, a couple more personal asides. I got a tattoo! It’s a vintage style Halloween cat because this is my fucking personality. It goes way back to getting in-School suspended for wearing all black back in high school when they told us we weren’t allowed to dress up for Halloween because of Columbine.

Modern Planetary Rulership Erasure Rant.

Astrologers who refuse to acknowledge modern planetary rulers are basically our community’s version of boomers.

To ignore change is to ignore progress or something deep idk.

Sure, take into account which planet ruled what before we could properly explore space, valid. It’s also fine if your astrological practice is one way, but it’s not fine to tell people that modern rulership is bs or “fake” in some way.

Just flat out refusing to agree with people who say, for example, “oh neptune is doing this thing, watch out pisces folks” is so lame lmao. Like I’ve seen people selling chart readings that actively refuse to include these planets. That behaviour tells me that you do not fully understand the scope of astrology and absolutely should not be taking people’s money for the half-assed readings you provide 😀

Y’all are the ones excluding a whole huge chunk of information and context from your chart readings. And I don’t mean to act like y’all and talk down on how you do things (though it seems you’re overdue for a taste of your own medicine), but it’s kinda just the truth. So much depth is added to a reading by acknowledging the newer parts of our solar system. Not to mention, popular opinion seems to be that the modern planets make more sense ruling the signs that they do. Might be simpler if y’all just say y’all wanna be different/contrarians, no? Lmao.

Even weirder is the people who do this, who have some kind of superiority complex about it 💀 like yes, congrats, you’re several decades behind the rest of us. You’re soooo much better at astrology than the rest of us??? Because that makes sense???

Reddit is particularly full of these obnoxious astro-boomers. People will ask a question ab what neptune is affecting in their chart and the astro-boomers descend and start spouting shit like “I don’t consider neptune in my readings blah blah blah”. If you don’t know, don’t comment 💀 it’s also free to scroll away!! Did you know??? Lmao.

Things are forever evolving and changing, no matter the area of life. Either get on our level, or don’t. But don’t be a dick about it. When you’re a dick about it, then I have to be a dick about it and no one wants that 💀
