You shoooould!! Howl’s Moving Castle is Also really good I’m considering doing that one next also!! Like I think my faves are Archer’s Goon, Howl, Homeward Bounders and Hexwood. And maybe Dark Lord of Derkholm and Year of the Griffon too. They’re all just!! so good!!!

Like I’m hoping my ability to concentrate on books will remain so I can reread more of them but also I’ve been distracted by making the archer’s goon siblings on sims all day so who knows

wowww fuck that guy, i'm so sorry you had to go through that! i don't know what it is with guys who just? don't take 2 seconds to consider the context and the circumstances and whether or not their advances could be taken as threatening? anyway: :(

ugh the worst. talked about it with a few friends and was told to contact the taxi company and give them feedback about this, so i did. at least the person on the phone was really understanding and told me it’s good i contacted them about this, and they w ll get back to me later about it. dunno what’s gonna happen, probably nothing, but i hope the guy gets reprimanded at minimum. it was so uncomfortable.

Yeah. Most of those people are early twenties, but even those who have lived in Korea for a while and married Koreans can be gross.

There are less panicky people out there who are patient and just kind of ride it out. Apparently. I don’t know if I believe them. :P

Ali she/her pgmy owl heights

Part of my "I'll write a (children's) story for you" experiment. This one is for witchintheredcloak.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Once upon a time there lived a little witch named Ali.

Ali's familiar was a pygmy owl named Sammy. Ali loved how Sammy could fly and swoop and do loop-de-loops around her head.

Ali wanted to fly on her broomstick like Sammy flew in the wind.

But Ali was afraid of heights.

Ali didn't want to be afraid of heights. She thought about who could help her with her fear.

Then she had an idea!

She would visit the Great Witch, who was the best witch in all the land. Maybe the Great Witch could help her.

So Ali skipped through the Well-Lit and Not at All Dangerous Forest with Sammy perched on her shoulder, dozing.

Ali reached the Great Witch's house.

It looked like an ordinary house. Or even smaller than an ordinary house. 

Ali knocked on the door. It swung open with a flair, revealing an inside that was far too large for the outside. Ali's eyes widened as she stepped into the opulent living room.

The Great Witch sat on a leather couch with her legs crossed, knitting a sweater with yarn that changed color with each stitch. 

She wasn't particularly old or young or beautiful or ugly. But she was obviously powerful.

"Hello," the Great Witch said.

"Hello. I'm Ali."

The Great Witch put down her knitting. "Hello, Ali. What would you like today?"

"Well, I want to fly very high like my pygmy owl Sammy, but I'm afraid of heights."

The Great Witch jumped up from her seat excitedly. "Oh, that's easy to fix."

She grabbed Ali by one hand and her tricked-out broom in the other. "The best way is to meet your fear head on!"

The Great Witch threw Ali on the back of her broom and yelled, "Hold on tight!"

The ground shot out from under them and the trees in the Well-Lit and Not At All Dangerous Forest started to resemble dots. Ali screamed and held onto the broomstick with both arms.

Even Sammy was alarmed. He hid under Ali's shirt.

"Isn't this great?" the Great Witch asked. This was the last thing Ali heard because she fainted at that point.

Ali stumbled off the broomstick, her legs wobbling under her. The Great Witch stood triumphantly, her homemade lace dress glittering in sunlight. "There! You are cured!"

"Thank you, Great Witch," Ali said, although she didn't feel cured at all.

Sammy did a lap around Ali's head and returned to her shoulder. They walked back into the forest, Ali more certain than ever she was never going to be cured of her fear of heights.

Saddened, she walked all the way home.

When she opened the door, she was greeted with the aroma of chocolate chip cookies.

"Welcome home!" Ali's twin chirped from the kitchen. Ali walked into the kitchen where her mom and sister were just finishing baking a batch of cookies.

"Have a cookie," Mom said, handing Ali a cookie.

"Why are you so sad?" Ali's sister asked.

"I'm never going to be able to ride a broomstick and fly like Sammy, ever," Ali said, biting into the delicious cookie. She could feel tears form behind her eyes. "I even asked the Great Witch for help!"

"What does she know about magic?" Ali's mom asked, laughing. 

"But she's the Great Witch!"

"You can't cure someone of a fear with just by waving a wand," Mom said.

"But magic can do anything."

Mom laughed, and led Ali out the door. A small broomstick was already there, hovering in front of them. "We'll start small," Mom said. "I didn't give you a broomstick before because I thought you didn't want to, not that you were scared. I'm sorry."

"It's very cute!" Ali said.

The broom hovered a foot above the ground, and Ali climbed on. She held on tightly, and slowly started going in small circles above the ground.

"Baby steps," Mom said.

Ali is older now. Ali is a great witch, but not the Great Witch. She can also fly a broomstick like Sammy can ride the wind. She loves it. But she's still a little afraid of heights.

And that's okay.
