I love your fics. Your stories are wonderful in every sense of the word. Right now I'm reading Hart of The Storm. I'm a Hart, of European descent. I'm also very connected to Earth. I don't know entirely why but this story is making me tear up in good ways. I'm moved for reasons I can't quite put into words. The way you treat the magic, the forest spirits, the symbolism of the Harts, the misconceptions of differences being evil or wrong, which has unfortunately continued. (1/2)

i love love love that you mention a story that i poured so much love and energy and probably magic into. i’d almost forgotten about it, but reading this message made me go skim-read it, and i started from about halfway through and ended up sucked in for 2 hours. i haven’t even reached the part you mentioned, with Dean and Cas and all their friends in the tavern, but oh boy i remember how much i loved writing that. <3

thank you. thank you thank you for reminding me about that fic. and for assuring me that there’s still good reasons to write the long stories with deeper meanings and darker themes - and one of those reasons is that they’re important.

and the weight of them doesn’t erase that they’re also beautiful and pretty damn fun to read. >u>

(i say “them” rather than “it” because i’ve written multiple plot-heavy, symbolism-heavy stories like Hart of the Storm over the years, and they’re always the ones very few people read, but the ones i’m proudest of, and the ones i would say define me as a writer in the long-term. but the few lovely people whose hearts those stories touch are always touched the deepest.)

I hope you don't mind being asked for info. Question: I really love the burning a paper, picture, or something for removing, banishing, etc. spells, but I live in a 300sq.ft. apartment. I don't know how sensitive the fire sprinklers are (the kind with a mercury tube). My windows face the mostly enclosed but still outdoor walkway to the rear door to the building. Candles are ok but do you have ideas on how to burn even just incense? (1/2)

(2/2) I can send photos or try to better describe the layout? I’m low on spoons at the moment.

Some ideas if you’re worried (I’d also recommend researching the type of sprinklers and how sensitive they are, could save you spoons in the future!):

Burn incense in the corner (if there’s no sprinklers there) and use stick incense that has a more controlled smoke range.

Burn incense by an open window or cracked open door.

Burn other stuff in the bathroom with the fan on. If it gets too smokey, there’s plenty of safe ways to put it out! 

Additionally, if you’re super worried you could burn stuff in the bathroom after you take a shower and it’s humid in there.

Burn the paper near a fireproof surface and something you can crush it with. When it gets too smokey, crush it until it stops burning than relight it (I’ve found the first 5 seconds are usually a clean burn).

There’s also a TON of ways to use water as banishing - I know that it feels different than using fire though!

I have so many questions, but I have Druidic ancestry and am a nature (hedge?) witch and use fae magick.
