closed psych ward escape starter for @ner0tic (Ashley Nicole)
The riots had just started and to everyone’s – and his own – surprise, Rafe wasn’t part of them. He hadn’t even started anything in like a week or so. He had other things to do. Most important was to get a clear mind and find a way out. And this might just be the chance he had been waiting for.
Rafe hadn’t taken his meds for about two weeks. They were useless anyway as they didn’t even stop the voices from talking, just made it harder to understand them, and that constant background mumbling was worse at times than the screaming. Also, the meds just made him sleepy and weak and damn hungry all the time.
He needed to think, he needed to get out, and make those pay whose fault it was that he was in here.
When he saw two nurses running along the corridor in his direction, he quickly opened the nearest door and ducked into the room. But the room wasn’t empty and he looked into the eyes of a young woman. Another inmate. Not wasting any time, he grabbed her, pushed her against the door, covered her mouth with his hand, his body pressing against hers, and listened for the steps outside to vanish. And then he looked into her eyes again, and frowned. He wondered if he had seen her before – even without the meds he had trouble remembering faces – maybe he knew her from group therapy where they all spilled out their sob stories – not him though, he had nothing to tell.
