Homebrew wizard idea.
There are spell slots but no spells, instead you rhyme words to cast whatever. You roll a d20 and the better the rhyme the better your bonus is.
Something like "Around and Around, up and down, YOU WILL NOW BE IN THE GROUND!" And the earth just eats up to their knees or something.
I feel like this is both a great way to make the table laugh and also the fastest casters in the lands would be rappers.

Another truth to drop on you. Bards are smarter, or at least more educated then wizards. Why? Because bards are specifically stated as to going to college, while wizards are only specified as going to school, which doesn't necessarily mean they went to get higher education. story idea: group of teens bonding over being Chosen Ones whose prophesy paradoxed itself away (ie. safe the people of a town from a monster, only because theres a prophesy about a monster, nobody lives in the town anymore) (the king, so distraught at the idea of becoming corrupted and having to be killed by a child, turns the county into a democracy. no evil king anymore)
