Listen it was funny for the first... three days... but they really are determined to pull a Johnlock Conspiracy 2.0 and I, for one, am sick of one or two batshit insane factions of fandom making literally every other fan on the planet, regardless of what you’re a fan of, look like a moron lacking both dignity and brain cells.

Here’s the thing. Don’t put on clown makeup and act surprised when you’re taken to the circus. Nobody wants to admit they were conned, especially by people who aren’t very good conmen in the first place. It’s hard to admit that you were wrong, that you might have been, well, stupid or naive. Trust me, I’ve been there. But in the long run, it’s so much better to just say, “I was wrong, I should have listened to others, they were queerbaiting the whole time and given this show was on the air for fifteen years I should have realized the writing was on the wall long ago, and now I know better and can choose more wisely in my media consumption.”

Because newsflash my tiny chili babies: you conspiracy theorists acting like a) this was a shock and b) you’re the only ones who ever got queerbaited is insulting to... oh, gee, the rest of the population? You’re not the only ones who ever got hurt and frankly the fact that you’re throwing a tantrum that your two white male faves didn’t kiss when there is actual good canonically queer diverse rep out there (Pose, Black Sails, The Untamed, Schitt’s Creek, and so on) that you’re ignoring is... como se dice...

Bullshit.

You got played. It sucks. Put on your big kid panties, learn from the experience, admit you were wrong, cry your tears, and move on. It’s what mature people do, and y’all could use a real strong dose of maturity right about now.

“Buck?”

Okay, Sleeping Hottie knew his name. Friend of Maddie’s, maybe he helped her get out from under Doug’s thumb? He accepted the answer easy enough, a smile on his face as he watched the other man break out into a huge smile. “Fuck, Buck, you’re okay.”

Buck felt touched, really, that this stranger was so invested in his wellbeing. “Yeah, no, I’m feeling okay. Thanks to the pain meds, I’m sure, but... Maddie, do you want to introduce us?” Buck asked, giving what he hoped was a teasing wink to his sister, but with the way half of his face was bruised and banged up it probably looked more like a wince.

The resounding silence that followed had Buck’s grin dropping into something a little less sure of himself, a little less comfortable, and by the time Maddie sat at the foot of his bed, Buck was stone faced.

“Evan...” Oh fuck. Nothing good followed Maddie bringing out the E word. “...do you know what the date is?”

Maddie! So Spaghetti started as part of Eddie Diaz Week back in July. I ... think it was maybe an early part of Between The Sheets day? I just remember as I wrote it in a sprint I was like “this is ... not the prompt, but it’s something good, so I should hang onto it.” So far, I’m still hanging on, and I have a feeling it’ll see some pretty heavy restructuring as I build it into its own story, which is unusual for me but I’m looking forward to it.

Snippet:

Buck has a side now, everywhere Eddie looks: his spot on the couch, his coaster on the coffee table. Down the hall, in the bathroom? There’s a bright green toothbrush in the back of the cabinet, the product of one too many nights with one too many beers for Buck to drive himself home. His favorite beer lives in Eddie’s fridge, his socks turn up in almost every load of laundry.  

He’s the best friend Eddie’s ever had, and it shows in every little way he’s carved out a spot for himself all over Eddie’s house.
