iswm thoughts

- this is Mark’s version of the magic purgatory, and maybe the same could be said for the heist.

- Celine is breaking through into this as Mark was in the snowy purgatory of Damien. 

- the old woman is Celine, maybe also Celci but that could be a red herring.

- Abe’s continuity is seeping in from wmlw in the form of the detective noir theme

(- Wilford is just vibin’, leave him alone)

- “It” isn’t Dark, it is possibly a teasing reference to the house demon thing. Which while the house demon wasn’t really a possiblity before I am now starting to question it again because the person curled up on the floor in each version shouting “that’s not me” could actually be Damien or connected to him.

- the worm hole / core holds resemblence to the blue magic explosion from back in wkm when Dark was made.

- puppet Gunther gazing into the worm hole is was an Abe monologue moment we did not get to hear.

- Yeah the worm hole was Mark’s fault but they is a vagueness about it similar to the death of Mark in WKM.

I might have misheard some part of this but Mark saying “They’re self regulating, I don’t have to do a thing. They police themselves.” in responce to the question from Wade of “how many cults are you allowed to be in before they start stepping on eachother’s toes?”.

That usage of “I” and the red robe in the background have me wondering. Is Mark acting in fictional character without directly stating it on occasion? could be normal but still kinda sus.

Also the scary games. It could just be the tropes being common but I can’t shake the feeling that he might be doing some sneaky foreshadowing or something.

one of my only complaints about wkm is that they aren’t direct about the gay shit. While yes the characters are problematic I do feel like it’s evenly spread across them enough that it wouldn’t be unfair. It can be done and I feel like it would help enhance the emotional sincerity of certain parts. 

Yes it’s heavily implied that Abe and Wilford are queer but that’s not the same as confirmation. I would like to see it gain more weight than just jokes. 

I want to use the Penumbra Podcast Juno Steel as some examples of how this is a possible direction that isn’t out of reach. heck, if we need a more dark / cude comedy example there’s Hellava Boss, which while it has it’s own problems we can’t say that it’s not diverse.

We don’t need an on screen kiss or anything, just a solid footing to be able to see these lgbt traits as something other than purely a joke in this series. You can still make jokes it’s just that they’ll have more impact if the audience has a better understanding of the character’s backgrounds.

I was just now double checking that I had the word right and was pleasently surprised to find this as an example: “Koudounaris learned of an army tomcat named the Colonel, for example, who was stationed at San Francisco’s Presidio in the 1890s and was said to be the best mouser the army ever had.”

Which is likely a lovely coincidence, or some of the lore inspiration came from research.

you know that thing from old cartoons where bubbles come out of a character’s mouth when they get drunk? Imagine if the magic made Wilford do that as a side effect kind of like Dark’s ringing.

Dark goes to enter Wil’s office and the air is filled with pink strawberry scented bubbles. Dark swats the bubbles out of his space because they are bothersome and distracting. Wil is half way through a bottle of marshmallow whisky andwhatever else he drank before, half unconscious at his desk. Wilford clearly had a bad day, but that is no excuse to be drunk on the job, though Dark does feel a little pity seeing Wil like this.

Markiplier character headcannons:

Harold B. Darrensworth: unlike the other characters Harold has a messed up skeleton from birth and chronic pains. It’s a case of bad luck when it comes down to genetics. His spine is misshapen, to ribs on one side are fused into one mega-rib, his lower jaw structure is slightly uneven, he is practically blind without glasses, one hip is prone to dislocating. He often walks with a cane as part of pain management and to help with mobility on uneven surfaces. Despite his disabilities he is likely to become one of the top skilled people in his line of work and study, an sharp as a tack when need be. He’s probably on the autism spectrum but hasn’t really been tested or seen a mental health professional for it so no solid diagnosis.

Wilford: He’s what men in the gay community call a bear. Scars from various fights and encounters. Himbo at a glance but will fight anybody or anything regardless of if he is outmatched or not. Tall and strong under a layer of squishy blubber like a sealion. 4th wall breaker style magic usage despite being unaware most of the time.

Dark: he’s small, not like short-short but rather like a person was scaled down in photoshop so proportionally he looks the same as somebody average sized. Genetically a chimera. Didn’t leave the pocket dimension just brought it with him hence the void and ringing. doesn’t leach colors out, just bends light in a way that is kinda funky.
