I would pay you my two kidneys for wolf!Simon licking and grooming otter!kyle
🫶
many please and many thanks
I won't take the kidneys but I'll take some cold chocolate cake to make me feel better about losing all the progress I had made very slowly throughout the day because now the first part is slightly different than it originally was supposed to be and I'm very upset now (which is why it ended up taking me like 2 weeks to get this done I'm so sorry 🥲)
Ghost definitely grooms everyone he can. He's learned not to lick Soap when he's shifted, otherwise he has to deal with a very upset bird. So what he does instead is lays his head down near where Soap is and sighs while licking his lips. Sometimes Soap will tease him by grooming himself, which usually leads to a husky level of dramatic tantrum. Nik and Price tolerate it, but Price laughs every time he sees their adopted daughter Bailey, a cat shifter, looking very angry with wolf slobber on her.
Granted, she's the one he's the most gentle with, and it's a form of bonding.
Enough yapping, here's the good soup.

The first time since the team's formation, the boys finally had some downtime. As shifters, they were familiar with the idea that the others would have different behaviors and quirks related to their respective species. It was rather easy for them to adjust to casual life together, yet for the most part, they still didn't understand where different boundaries were. Excluding their captain, they were all social creatures, yet bonded in different ways, and expressed their companionship in different ways. There was a good week where the sergeants and Ghost had awkwardly danced around each other as they learned individual boundaries.
Unfortunately for Gaz, Soap and Ghost had already formed a bond, something unique forged during their time in Las Almas. It wasn't surprising, actually. Gaz had heard stories of wild ravens and wolves forming close bonds, seeming friendships, and that sort of relationship was evident in Soap and Ghost. The two had quickly learned that Ghost didn't mind having his personal space invaded, much to Soap and Gaz's shock, and they learned Soap rather enjoyed sitting perched on Ghost any way he could. It was not an entirely uncommon sight to see a large Raven sitting on Ghost's shoulder as the lieutenant went about his daily duties.
But Gaz wasn't so lucky. He was an Otter, a seemingly oddball addition to the team. Bear, Wolf, and Raven all seemed to just work, it made sense. It's not like Gaz felt rejected, in fact he could see the desperation to include him on Soap’s face, the passing huffs from Ghost that Gaz never truly understood the meanings of.
So it's why Gaz was so grateful to have a space to himself where he could shift and take time for himself. The pool reserved for him was hidden away from the main portion of base, surrounded by a sprinkling of trees and a tall, thick fence for privacy. He spent a long afternoon doing laps around the pool, ducking through the tunnels placed inside, and jumping onto the platform along the far side. It kept him active, and after having been out of the water in proper otter fashion for far too long, it was stimulating. Something exciting and different from the dull thrum of life on base.
And nothing was better after a long afternoon swim session than heading to the nearby concrete pad and sunbathe after grooming himself. But as he approached his concrete pad, he noticed a glaring problem. A large Wolf was laying sprawled out on his side, soaking up every inch of sun.
Annoyed, Gaz ran up to Ghost's tail and lightly tapped it with his front paws, an annoyed squeal accompanying the action. The tail flicked but Ghost showed no other sign of acknowledging the otter's annoyance. So, Gaz moved on to attacking Ghost's large back paws, only earning a small grumble and slight kick. Desperation kicked in as Gaz hopped towards Ghost's head, and he jumped onto the Wolf's large head and nipped his ear. Ghost sat up with a start, and Gaz backed away to glare at the other as best he could. Gaz squealed and bobbed his head up and down in the most threatening way he could. Ghost stared down at him, mostly bored, before letting out a grumble, a yawn quick to follow. Gaz's efforts to chase him off must have been falling on deaf ears, or Ghost was lost in thought as he just watched the otter's antics. With a single swipe of his tongue, Ghost effectively silenced Gaz, pacifying him just like the otter were a wolf pup.
Gaz couldn't tell what made him angrier: the audacity Ghost had to treat him like a pup, or the fact it worked.
Gaz couldn't even think as Ghost continued to lick him. Well, lick wasn't the best term to describe the situation, it was more grooming behavior than anything else. And Gaz had quickly realized it had been too long since someone else had groomed him. He slowly curled against Ghost as the Wolf continued to groom him, using his teeth to gentle nibble Gaz's sore muscles. The repetitive motions were slowly putting Gaz to sleep, and he had rolled over onto his back. To think he had been so worried about fitting in with the other two's social circle, yet he had completely forgotten that he wasn't the only one to social groom. By the time his coat was dry, Gaz had fallen asleep between Ghost's front paws, and the Wolf had gently rested his head against the otter as he fell back asleep.
Part 1 - 'Hot Chocolate' (wolf shifter!ghost x f!reader)
White blankets everything outside, the greens and browns of the forest and the roof of your cabin now covered in snow.
Sipping your hot chocolate, you watch as more snow falls down in pretty little flakes. Maybe you’ll make a snowman later when it eases up, you think. For now, you’re just content to admire the weather from inside.
You briefly tense as you catch some movement outside before relaxing again when you recognise that kind-of-familiar fluffy backside as he approaches your cabin backwards, pulling another dead animal to your front door.
A deer, this time, you note.
It's the third animal—offering? gift? stock item?—this week.
You're not sure why he keeps doing this, why he chose your cabin as the spot to dump the victims of his sharp teeth or why he doesn’t seem fussed when he returns to drop off another animal only to find the previous one gone. Which is why you can’t help but feel like they’re somehow for you.
You leave your half-empty hot chocolate on your kitchen counter and head over to the front door, tearing it open and glaring at the wolf as he drops the deer from between his teeth and turns around to face you.
Snow decorates his grey and brown fur as he stands there, dark eyes focused on you.
"Alright, enough of you. I don’t want that thing and this isn't some food storage spot for you. Get out of here!" You're shivering by the time you're done scolding him, your long sleeve pyjamas and fluffy slippers clearly not enough to keep the cold from affecting you out here. The fire in your lounge room beckons you closer but you must deal with the matter at hand first.
The wolf tilts his head at you and maintains eye contact.
You've gotten glimpses of him around this part, your part, of the forest, aware of when he was nearby through his howls. And you’ve even exchanged far away glances at each other. He didn’t hurt you then so you feel a little better now about confronting him, however you aren’t sure if he’s about to devour you and you don’t exactly want to stand around and find out as you feel your bravery slowly leaving you the more he stares you down.
You flick your hand out. "Okay, go on, shoo."
Before he can have an opportunity to pounce, you close the door and start walking back to your kitchen to grab your hot chocolate. A bark startles you, then the sound of scratching at your door. Little Shit. Against all better judgement you go back and open your door. The deer remains where you saw it before but now the wolf is right here in front of you. He's even bigger up close, his head in line with your stomach.
Feeling brave you ask, "What do you want, Terror?"
He replies with a bark, much softer than you expected, as he slowly blinks up at you.
"I am not taking that thing if that's what you mean." You motion to the dead deer.
Another bark, before he bumps his nose against one of your hands that hangs by your side, then pushes past you and walks into your cabin.
"Hey, no terrors allowed, buddy! Get that fluffy butt outside! You're trekking in snow too, you know?!"
Your attempts to kick him out fall upon deaf ears as you end up closing your door and following him through to your lounge room where he circles a few times before lying down in a cozy ball right in front of the toasty fire, resting his head on the floor. He looked at home, relaxed, and more like a domesticated dog than a wolf.
Since it looks like he’s not leaving anytime soon and you really have no other option, you give in with a sigh. "Alright, you can stay for now."
He lets out a soft bark without lifting his head, then another when you try to leave.
"I'm just getting my hot chocolate. Stay." You doubt the command will work but you try it anyway, leaving him there while you walk to the kitchen.
He does in fact not listen.
You barely make it a few steps before he gets in front of you, making you stop, then starts nudging you, your stomach, your thighs, even tries nudging your crotch, making you gasp and push his head away.
"Terror! You're just a dirty, old man, huh?" You giggle, scratching behind his ear before you can stop yourself.
He huffs a breath of air out through his nose and nudges your leg again, before he takes some of your pyjama pants in his mouth and tugs you towards the fire. When he gets you to where he was laying down before, he tugs on your pants making you sit down, before nudging your shoulder so you're completely laying down on your back.
The cold must have frozen some of your brain cells because you just go along with it, allowing him to manoeuvre you however he likes.
"Did you want to eat me in front of a nice, warm fire, is that it?" You awkwardly joke, fingers clenching and unclenching nervously on your chest.
He lets out a little sound, a mix of a whine and a growl, and nudges your cheek, then lies down and rests his head on your clothed stomach, face in the direction of the fire, his eyes closing.
You let out a tense breath and bring a hand to his head and start gently petting him as you close your own eyes, feeling yourself warm up because of the fire and this big fluffy animal that radiates heat. It's not exactly the most comfortable spot but it'll do. You even ignore all the now-melted snow he's brought in.
"Don't think I haven't forgotten about that deer outside. And I'm gonna be really pissed if you eat me while I'm sleeping, Terror." You mumble, too busy falling asleep to hear the little snort he lets out.
🗣️🗣️ no time like the present to get writing!! (coming from someone who.. also.. should be writing..)
but i'd like to hear more about the wolfshifter au idea if you don't mind!! very intriguing stuff
Thank you for the ask, my friend! Now that you have summoned every thought, here is a dump of the wolfshifter au!!!
So, for starters: The MacTavish family and their history of caring for wolfshifters. Since the discovery of wolfshifters about a century ago, there's been a huge stigma against them in the broad scope of modern society. Something about them never really being "human" and are typically reduced to nothing but savage beasts. But Scotland, having a high focus on herding, accepts the wolfshifter population the best. They're not exactly buddy buddy with them, but most wolfshifters find easy work doing stuff for farmers and whatnot. Granted, most of their jobs are like "guard dog" sorts of jobs, but hey, in a world where it's really common for wolves to be fired, refused a job, evicted, etc. just for being a wolf, work is work.
Then came along Great-great Grandma MacTavish. Something happened with her husband and somehow, a wolfshifter was the one to provide the best support for the young family during their difficult times. She ends up convincing her husband to start a business; basically a support/help center for wolfshifters in need. They provide basic medical care, food, clothing, shelter, etc.
Skip to modern day and Soap's family is still very heavily supporting this 'little' business. It's grown a significant amount, obviously, and it's the largest of a handful of wolfshifter care centers in the country, all others younger and operating independently. Soap's parents still run the "soup kitchen" that provide homemade Scottish meals to any and all wolves, no questions asked. Soap's eldest brother and wife are in charge of the medical facility that provides care for both human and wolf form. The brother (Oliver) and his wife run the "human" department specifically, and one of the two MacTavish sisters (Sarah) is in charge of the "wolf" department. Tiffany, the second MacTavish sister is in charge of the housing for displaced wolfshifters.
Side note about wolfshifters in this AU: they all are required to wear identifying tags/have ID chips for what's considered "safety" purposes. Ghost, being the legally dead menace to society he is, no longer wears his ID tags/dogtags (military ones), and because of Roba, his chip had been forcibly removed so he could never be identified; he'd just die a nobody.
Then we got Simon Riley. His father, being the absolute abomination he is, never knew his wife was a wolfshifter until after they have kids. Simon got the brunt of his abuse for being a wolf, and he eventually just became so numb to the abuse he gets from everyone that he eventually stops transforming. So much to the point that Price is not aware of his shifter status, but he's definitely suspicious.
But not as suspicious as Soap. Soap grew up around wolfshifters, and he knows there are certain behaviors and whatnot that are noticeable even in human form. He picks up on a few, albeit very subtle, behavioral traits from Ghost that just scream "wolf" to him, but he knows not to approach him about it. He grew up around wolves that had nowhere to go, no one to go to, traumatized and broken regarding their true nature. Ghost is like a poster child for it, so Soap keeps his distance from that topic.
They still end up having a very unique relationship, but it's not established when Ghost goes missing during a solo mission. Their intel was wrong or something else of the sort and he ended up getting captured.
The problem? They're a group trying to weaponize wolfshifters by forcing them to remain in wolf form. There's a special drug that was supposedly lost/abandoned that can induce transformations in wolfshifters. This group has mutated it to the point that wolves cannot physically transform back into human for several months at a time with only one injection of an amount that's in ratio with body weight and stuff.
ANYWHO
Ghost ends up stuck in wolf-form, he's injured, and he has no clue where he is. Turns out, he's stranded in what's considered the world's "safehaven" for wolfshifters all because of the MacTavish family.
Soap's siblings end up having to take him in, obviously not knowing who he is because he has no IDs or anything.
Basically just a really fluffy and angsty story about Ghost finding family with the MacTavish's and Soap just having absolutely world-destroying realizations of his love for Simon Riley. Ghost being soft with the young nieces and nephews, being fiercely protective of his new found-family
Yeah, I clearly haven't thought about this AU at all. Nope. Not a thought going towards it
Okay, since y'all expressed great interest, I've been tortured into writing the wolf-shifter AU
*much sarcasm* I'm absolutely doing this against my will. Totally, of course. Absolutely hating this process.
Anyways, it'll be on ao3 under my profile (FeelzMaster) and will be called His Wounded Cry
I'll post an update soon, and let me know if you'd like to continue to be tagged for future updates. If you want to be added to the taglist, please let me know!
Y'all are the ones that expressed a significant amount of interest in the wolfshifter!Ghost au and I am here with an update on it!
It'll be out... soon!
I know, so great. First chapter might suck, but I want to get something out in the next day or two. I feel guilty though, cause I did promise something like 2 weeks ago now.
So, because I feel the need to bless y'all with something, take a song I wrote. It wasn't originally intended for this particular AU, much less ship (and fandom) but it works really well. Written with intent to be a country song, but like not. I dunno, anyways, enjoy it!
Howling At The Moon
Verse 1:
Sunset comes and the wind blows cold.
But I ain’t afraid at all.
With you by my side, it’ll be all right,
The dark ‘comes light and the cold gets warm,
Hands wrapped around hands and arms in arms.
Oh, what a night to be loved by you.
Clouds disappear from the sky and all lights up.
Darlin’ I wish you could see yourself
From my perspective.
Sugar, you’d never hate yourself again
And you’ll start to love your battle scars.
It’s a little hard, but I ain’t giving up on you.
Refrain:
‘Cause I got you and you got me,
And we’re sitting in the dark,
Howling at the moon.
The most beautiful of stars are the ones in your eyes,
And everything feels just right.
‘Cause I got you and you got me,
And we’re sitting in the dark,
Howling at the moon.
All our secrets whispered in the wind,
Wish I could keep you safe.
Verse 2:
I see that fire in your heart, but your mind is weak.
All that pain, oh how I wish it would just go away.
You’ve taught me how to be brave,
And I’ve taught you how to love again,
And we’re in this fight together till my dying breath!
Cause Lord knows I ain’t gonna let you go ‘fore I do.
Darling, your laugh could light a hundred rooms
Yet your stare could freeze a hundred men.
How did I get so lucky with you,
A fighter and a warrior, yet so buried by your heart.
You are everything I asked for,
And I owe everything I have to you.
Refrain:
‘Cause I got you and you got me,
And we’re sitting in the dark,
Howling at the moon.
And the most beautiful of stars are the ones in your eyes,
And everything feels just right.
‘Cause I got you and you got me,
And we’re sitting in the dark,
Howling at the moon.
All our secrets whispered in the wind,
Wish I could keep you safe.
But tonight we’re wild and free,
Hootin’ and hollerin’
Letting go of all our fears
Just living one night to the fullest
‘Cause I got you and you got me,
Sitting in the dark,
Howling at the moon.
And when the sun comes up,
We’ll find our way home just to start again
And no matter how far apart
You’ll always be in my heart.
‘Cause I got you and you got me,
And we’re sitting in the dark,
Howling at the moon.
Looking back at it, it's like a mix of both of them addressing the other and I think that's really neat. I dunno, maybe if someone asks nicely I'll attempt at singing it
No promises it'll be decent, or that it'll even happen, but we'll see.
