Tolerate - Jegulus - @jeggyverses-jegulus-microfic - word count: 700
“How do you do it?” Sirius asked.
“Huh?”
“James?”
“Oi!” James’ head popped up from where it had been bent over his Potions essay and he rubbed at the top of his head where something relatively solid had bounced off of it.
“I asked you a question.”
“Soz, Pads, but I still need another foot on this essay before tomorrow morning.” James pulled his textbook towards him. “Give me an hour.”
“An hour?! Eugh! Fine.”
Barely five minutes had passed before James was distracted again. Sirius had started sighing heavily and dramatically. James rolled his eyes and tried to block him out.
After another five minutes of progressively louder sighing and whimpers and fingers drumming on the table, James took a deep breath and looked up.
“What’s up, Pads?” James gritted out.
“Don’t worry about me, finish your homework.”
James knew the morose tone was put on, but he also knew he’d never get his essay finished if he didn’t give Sirius his attention now.
“You’ve got three minutes and then I’m going back to my essay.”
“Okay!” Sirius scooted closer to James side and leaned in conspiratorially. “I asked, how do you stand it?”
“Stand what, mate?”
“That.” Sirius pointed discreetly to the opposite side of the common room.
James looked over and saw Lily looking at Pandora with what Moony would call heart eyes. Lily and Pandora had been openly seeing each other for a couple of weeks now and of all people to have a problem with it, James would never have thought it would be Sirius.
“Mate,” James looked at Sirius with some concern. “Are you not okay with Lil being gay? Cause, that’s pretty fucked up.”
“What? Of course I don’t give a shit about her being gay.” Sirius scrunched his face up in confusion.
“Then why would you think I wouldn’t be okay with it? Do you think I’m some kind of bigoted arsehole? Cause honestly, fuck you if you think that poorly of me.” James started gathering all his stuff together to go finish studying somewhere away from Sirius.
“Prongs, mate, fuck sake, no.” Sirius grabbed his papers to stop him from leaving. “I meeeeean, seeing Lily with someone who isn’t you?”
Ohhhhh. Shit.
“Well, er, not really, mate.” James rubbed the back of his neck and tried to avoid making eye contact with Sirius.
“Why not?”
“Why did you ask me how I can stand it? You had a weird tone about it.” James fired back, avoiding the question and trying to keep Sirius distracted enough to stop prying open that box just yet.
“Oh, well, erm, no reason.” James watched as Sirius’ eyes flickered around the room, clearly avoiding looking at one person in particular.
James watched as Remus sat chatting away to Gideon Prewett, a man who James knew was not in any way interested in Remus and also that Remus was in no way interested in Gid, because he was too besotted with a certain curly haired lunatic sat way too close to James. James had to fight every instinct in him not to just shout at the pair of them most days.
“Mate, is there something in particular you are struggling to be able to tolerate right now?” James hedged gently.
“Me? No!” Sirius blustered. “Let’s get this essay finished, shall we?”
Before James could stop him, Sirius started riffling through his notes.
“It’s alright, I’ve got it.” James made to grab the notes back, but Sirius had already stopped and was staring at something in one of the margins. “Sirius, mate…” James tried again to snatch the paper, but Sirius pulled them out of his reach.
“James,” Sirius took a deep breath before he looked up and squinted at James. “Why is my brother leaving you messages and kisses on your notes?”
James’ eyes blew wide. “Erm…” James started looking around for a quick exit.
“Run.”
“What?” James croaked.
“Run.” Sirius warned one more time as he got to his feet.
James did not need to be told a third time.
He snatched his bag, his papers and bolted out of the portrait hole. Deciding to hide out in his boyfriends dorm until Sirius, eventually, calmed down…
I just realised
James for Wolfstar
is the same as
Regulus for Rosekiller
The best friend who has to watch his best friends pine for each other.
And... Pandora??
...
Pandora is Pete.
Trying to help, to fix things, but it blew up.
„Guys! Have you met Remus, my best mate?”
(As always, so many ideas, so little time)
Enough - a wolfstar microfic
@wolfstarmicrofic - September 5: The Three Broomsticks - Words: 411
“Hello there, beautiful.” Sirius leaned on the counter and wiggled his eyebrows.
Remus stuck his hands a little further down his pockets and pretended not to watch. Sirius had been blinking his eyes at Rosmerta since the minute they sat foot in The Tree Broomsticks. Whatever he saw in that hip-swaying, bust-showing bitch.
Remus knew, logically, it was the normal way for a bloke to feel. The way he was supposed to feel. If he hadn’t been a freak in more than one way, he would have probably understood it.
“Even if your presence alone is enough to brighten this gloomy day, don’t you think this weather calls for a honey scotch?” Sirius continued buttering her up.
“You know I don’t serve hard liquor to Hogwarts students. Not worth the trouble.” She said with a hand on her hip.
“Only for us? Your favourite customers?” Sirius fluttered his perfect eyelids and yanked Remus closer to his side.
Rosmerta rolled her eyes and poured two small glasses under the counter. “If anyone asks, this is just cider.”
“Thank you!” Sirius sing-songed and quickly put the money in her hand.
Remus was still fuming when Sirius pulled him with him to a corner table.
“For you.” Sirius slid one of the glasses over the table towards Remus with a keen smile. Remus almost thought his cheeks were a little red already, even though they hadn’t drunk anything yet.
Remus quickly took a sip of the golden liquid, buying some time to rein in his unbidden temper. It was so strong his eyes watered. But it was sweet and left a pleasant warmth in his throat.
“Was it good?” Sirius asked with twinkling eyes.
Remus nodded.
Sirius raised one amused eyebrow. “Worth all the butt-licking good?”
“Not sure,” Remus mumbled and smiled an embarrassed smile. He’d thought Sirius was so occupied flirting that he hadn’t noticed Remus beside him. But of course, he couldn’t hide anything from Sirius.
Sirius laughed a warm laugh and reached his hand over the table, resting it on top of Remus’ and suddenly his anger melted away.
Remus might be the wrong gender and the wrong person for his dreams to be possible. Sirius might not be batting his eyelashes at Remus, as he did left and right when he wanted something. But the soft secretive smile he shared with Remus right now, no one else got. And if he couldn’t get more, that would have to be enough.

I wrote another Wolfstar one shot, what's new?
Snippet:
“I’m gonna regret this.” He murmurs shaking his head. “Fine, Pads. Just this once, I’ll kiss you.” “Moony you don’t have to, I don't want you to do it because you think you have to.” Remus is smiling though and the tension from earlier has lifted. “Do you want the Casanova experience or not Sirius?” “Not if it makes you uncomfortable.”
Remus steps forward again and there isn’t much space between them now. “I’m not uncomfortable.” “I don’t want to force you. I was just-” “Pads?” “Yes?” “I’m gonna kiss you now.” “Okay.”

“It looks scarier up close.” James swallowed, scratching his forearm.
“It absolutely does not,” Remus retorted, “unless you find gothic architecture frightening.”
“It’s inherently frightening, Moons.” Sirius’ smile was wider than their cheeks somehow, Remus’ film camera in their hands.
It was Peter who actually swung open the door to the old mansion, his eyes wide and searching. He ran up to a dusted-over photo on the wall and gently pushed his hand along it, watching as the faces beneath were uncovered and began to move. They all wore suits, even the boy, who couldn’t have been more than three. He smiled. “It’s got to be from the 20s, with fabrics like that.”
Sirius squealed happily, running in and stepping over and over on a particularly squeaky floorboard. “See? This is what I mean!”
Remus groaned softly. “What, just because it’s old means there’s got to be-”
“Don’t even bother asking that, Moony.”
“Well, if that’s true, why didn’t we just stay at Hogwarts?” His voice wavered into exasperation. “There’s ghosts all around the bloody place!”
“Well, these ones are different,” They smiled. “And are therefore cooler. These ones aren’t going to tell me to go to class.”
