Logan knows where this is going. He tries to turn his head away but is startled by the doctor grabbing his chin and yanking it back. The hands linger, grasping his jaw so firmly that it’ll surely bruise.

“Look at me when I’m talking to you.”

He stubbornly avoids the others' eyes. The mutant flinches when they reveal a familiar instrument: a scalpel. Logan doesn't even have time to ponder its significance before the doctor plunges it into his thigh. Now, he’d be the first to tell you that his pain tolerance is pretty high. It’s got to be, when you’ve been fighting tooth and nail for over two centuries. But this, this is different. There's something about the artificial light flooding his eyes, the iron grip on his chin, and the chilling steel of the operating table that unsettles him to his core. It overwhelms and amplifies his senses, and even the smallest touch burns like he's being branded by a red-hot iron. Every sound rattles around his brain and every photon seems intent on attacking his sensitive pupils. The pain in his thigh spreads like wildfire and it takes clenching his teeth to stifle an embarrassing whimper. He finds the strength to grab at the doctor's hands, but can only manage a loose hold. It’s all too much and there's no end in sight.

"I said, look at me when I’m talking to you, brute.”"
