Back Yard in Bloom, 1967
4/5
Holy hell what a nightmare.
I was at2 my mom's house, so it was Boneta at first. My mom and stepdad were fighting outside, just loud and screaming. She accused him of trying to kill zhis sister(???idk) and then they started physically fighting (you could hear it). I was really scared and uncomfortable but I couldn't leave because I didn't have a car.
Then they came in the house, and the house was more like Woodridge. I was in my dad's office room and they went into the bedroom and started fuckin. Loudly. I wanted to get away but I didn't (couldnt?) Go in the hallway, there was some secret passage behind the rooms that went into the spare room and I could get out there.
I think then I tried to get into a car in the driveway but the seat kept going so far back it fell out of the car (idk man) and I guess they found me or something bc I couldn't leave. There was this endless litany of "not allowed to leave"
And then they left somewhere but I didn't have a car still and I called nick for help for whatever reason and he came to pick me up and pack up all my stuff, and we were waiting for something to be delivered and then I found this amazing jewelry armoire in the garage and I was taking a bunch of jewelry but like I was so scared of them coming back to stop me again but we got the car packed up with all my stuff and we were about to leave. Nick had this cool black suede jacket with silver stuff on it and I told him he looked like a pagan iron man.
I kept waking up and falling back into this dream and it was awful. I guess it doesn't sound nightmarish but this feeling of dread and fear was awful.
Second dream!
I was at a fall out boy concert at this little venue with two stages, one was outside and one was inside. I was there with bebo and a friend of mine? They said between every song Pete or Patrick would come out and sit with the audience. At one point they came out to talk to me and Pete gave me this like, banner that was signed personally and all kinds of stuff. They pointed behind me and Ryan was there. I was like, you did this for me? Why? And he was like I still love you I would do anything for you. And he was all.... like he had crutches and stitches like he'd been through it and he was talking about how his health was a struggle and I was hugging him and crying. I then went to go get bebo so he could meet him but I grabbed the wrong baby somehow? Heck man

Woodridge Mini-Triathlon 2017 250y swim, 10k bike, 2mi run
My second year at this race, which defines my entire experience with triathlons. Two things I learned last year as a first-timer -- my bike sucks, and I spent way too much time in transition. I did better at both this year, which resulted in a two-minute improvement in my overall time. Good enough for second in my age group (again) and 13th overall (five places better).
T1 was 1:30 faster than last year, so that accounts for most of the jump. I skipped socks and bike gloves this year, which are nice but not necessary. Two items that are hard to get on when your body is wet. I also stacked my shirt, sunglasses, and helmet on my aerobars so they were easy to grab and put right on. My bike was positioned near the exit, which made it easy for me to get in and out. Worth arriving early to grab that prime spot.
Swim was fine. I had to pass someone again this year, even with the 20 second lead. Too bad people can’t seed themselves properly. Just a few seconds slower than last year with barely any practice.
In the bike I improved only 45 seconds even though I tried to push it. Clearly I need a bike manufactured in the last 25 years to be competitive in this leg. Can’t really justify the purchase (or even rental) for one small race a year, but I’m sure it would make a huge difference. I was only passed by two people, though, which I count as a win.
You would think my run would be amazing, but I had the fourth fastest leg overall compared to first last year. The rubber legs coming off the bike threw me off, but I was still passing a lot of people. I did crank it up in the last half-mile wondering what took me so long to get into gear.
Happy with the improvement for sure. I’d like to try something longer, but open water swimming would be a major hindrance for me. I’d have to commit to more bike and swim practice, but maybe I’ll change my focus for 2018 and do something other than marathons for a change...
