Write in a way that allows you to make sense of the world
Stop defining yourself in the eyes of others
Take the effort and the time to detox and slow down and find yourself
Step out of the safe zone and replace fear with freedom
Read screenplays to help with dialogue
Define your space - make it you and make it a habit
Don’t tamp yourself down
Look into local magazines and newspapers to publish articles to build a fan base
On Query Letters:
First paragraph - one paragraph to sum up your work
Second paragraph - specifics: genre, length, title
Third paragraph - resume/bio - educational background, writing, etc
Wrap up - describe why you are contacting the agent
Research the agents and write to them specifically
Be as professional as possible. Don’t make any spelling or grammar mistakes
Show the motivation of the character and the direction of the book
Remember they are busy - gain their focus
Thank them for taking the time to review your query
Keep your submissions organized. Know who you have sent to and when.
