looking to the dr who eu to canonize ex-companions’ fates is always tricky but it’s like they’ve gone and made it especially hard with Jamie. like it’s pretty common for there to be contradicting info in most cases and you either have to come up with elaborate headcanons to make it all fit together or just pick which fate you personally think is best/most fitting but with him it’s like....ok you can choose to go by the one in which he ‘canonically’ regains/never actually looses his memories - but then he doesn’t see the Doctor again until he’s super old, and dies almost immediately afterwards fighting some Cybermen.... or you can have the one where he does wind up working for the Time Lords in 6b, but he’s ‘under a spell’ and doesn’t really know what’s going on the whole time, plus when it’s over he gets his memory wiped all over again.... or perhaps you prefer the clean basic straightforward approach where he settles down in Scotland only remembering his first meeting with the Doctor, marries Kirsty, and has a ton of kids - but bad luck, that’s the continuity in which a CIA agent has to get some info out of an older Jamie, so he temporarily gives him back his memories until Jamie asks him to take them away again because it’s too painful for him to go on living this life and knowing about the one he lost .... it’s literally a fcking minefield out here and i am always being so so brave about it
