This is about Dexa's (https://www.tumblr.com/cyanogen-miasma/760449375772311552/sorry-i-turned-dexa-into-a-lizor?source=share) species, who were originally called Cryo-Cats back when I was fucking 12. I have to change that 1) because it sucks 2) because they aren't cats anymore, they are lizardy looking things

their new lore is that they are articifical silicon-based life created as an experiment by the Sapiovenators, who survived the K-Pg extinction and evolved into spohonts of their own. They can only live at the poles because the silicon compounds they are made of are really unstable and break down in temperate temperatures - hence 'Cryo'. So, there are two ways I could go about naming them, reference to their silicon basis, and reference to their icy habitat. Lorewise, I'm not sure they would have known that they were silicon-based before naming themselves, so Cryons makes more sense, but Silicians sounds nice, it rolls off the tongue, it feels slippery like ice. and I'm not fucking making a conlang for them, Astrodopteran is enough for me right now lol
