How does your world and story change if the main character(s) are gender swapped?
Reading dead apple for the first time (after watching it a bunch of times) and I only just now noticed, but - the fog arrives at night. The agency lives in a dorm. WHY aren't they all immediately regrouping at their dorm? Why aren't Kyouka and Atsushi dashing out of their own rooms and kicking down the doors of their neighbours, or, hell, why didn't their neighbours kick down their door to wake them up?
I mean, to be fair, maybe Atsushi and Kyouka did check the other rooms and we just weren't told about it, would make sense since showing them finding empty rooms wouldn't advance the plot. But that brings up the question: Where are the other ADA members in the middle of the night?
Kunikida, working overtime at the agency? Doing footwork investigation that the younger members of the agency should be in bed for? Fair point. Similar could go for Yosano.
But what about Tanizaki and Kenji? Why weren't they at the dorm in the middle of the night? Why weren't they there to be woken up or there to wake two of our protagonists up?
Is it just me or is it weird how in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the people of Mor Ardain and Tantal don’t any physical adaptations to their environment?
Like, most of the humans in Alrest are very clearly distinguished in terms of which Titan’s nationality they belong to, right down to having signature accents in the English dub. But the game also experiments with them being different physically.
The Urayans have rock-like scales across their skin, and like, that tracks. They live inside the Urayan Titan and the geography is extremely rocky and covered in cliffs and fjords. Their adaptation makes sense. The Gotmotti’s cat ears make…less sense. But I guess you can make some argument that they live in plains/jungles among beasts, so it figures they’d become more ‘animal-like’ to adapt (though I suspect this mostly for the meta reason of ‘gotta gave catgirls’). Meanwhile I’m not sure what about Indol specifically makes the Indoline have blue skin, elf ears and unnaturally long lives. But it is at least distinct.
But what about the Ardanians and the Tantalese? They live in the harshest climates of all. One a scorching desert with dust winds, and the other amidst bitterly cold, snow capped mountains. And yet, they are pretty much just normal humans. You’d think the Ardanians would have like…cold blooded reptilian features to protect them from the heat. While the Tantalese could have fur to shield them from the cold.
Am I implying Morag should have been a scaly and Zeke should have been a furry? Well…I’m not not saying that…but I do legitimately think it’s weird that Xenoblade 2 only kinda goes halfway with distinguishing the types of humans on each Titan.
There’s also the Leftherians, but I’m not sure what you’d do to reflect their environment, and they probably didn’t want Rex’s design to be overly out there given his ‘Everyman’ position as the protagonist. So I kind of get that one.
You know how humans whine about them being flawed as a species?
I mean, the back problems, the childbirth pain, and many more.
What would other (fantasy/sci-fi) species think of themselves, what would they see as a flaw?
Here's a silly request! What's the dumbest way our 1 HP boys would get dusted? lmao I just had the thought of Red stubbing his toe really hard and Boss just hears "FU-" and before he can investigate wtf Red is yelling about the dude is already dusted.
DSFAFSD While that does sound funny, the sanses wouldn't really dust from something like that. There has to be intent behind whatever's trying to hurt them, so inanimate objects wouldn't cause enough damage to make them lose hp. Unless they're falling from high up or intentionally putting themselves in harm's way there's nothing to worry about.
What social norms are there regarding clothing in your world?
I am once again wondering how clothes look like based on regional differences, specifically climate related. What's the difference in clothing front plains to forested? What about swamp to mountain? Heavily misted areas? Places constantly under rain? How does it work? I would like to worldbuild but I have very little idea how certain clothing and climate conditions relate, other than, you know, cold means more layers, hot means (usually) less, really hot means a lot of layers, and the like. I know high and rubberlike boots are common in wet areas (snow, swamp, rainy, near oceans). But what about other stuff, because I know for a fact there is a lot more. Where do I even start for researching this? I don't know. I would like to know. Anybody have any ideas?
