Indian and Mexican? Who knew that this fusion of cuisines would make it’s way the area, what with all the already successful outlets specialising in each type like Benitos Hat, Wahaca and our favourite Ragam just conveniently round the corner. However, those of us who struggle with the decision between the two cuisines can now have both in one meal! As their site quotes ‘Wrapchic’ is Mumbai slang for ‘Sexy’, pronounced as ‘Rap-chick’. It is often used as an ‘adjective’ to accentuate a ‘noun’, which in WrapChic’s case is the food! Their aim is to “change your mind on how you see Indian food” and want to “revolutionise the way we eat and enjoy our favourite Indian cuisine.” Were they successful? Judging by some LunchClubber’s reactions, I think they were! The service was quick and conveyor belt style, and the bright and very visual menu was easy to navigate making ordering a breeze. The main stars are the wraps and burritos - the main difference being the addition of rice and beans. I went with a wrap for a lighter and cheaper lunch option whereas those who were ready to devour something substantial went for the burrito. The filling options is short and concise, but they seem to cover everything from chicken tikka, lamb madrasi, fish malabari and veggie options like paneer masala. With all these new contemporary food outlets giving traditional cuisines an uplift for the 21st century foodie I always worry they will scrimp on things like spice, afraid that the average Londoner won’t be able to handle it. However, the Chicken Tikka left me craving a cool mango lassi to sooth the good level of spice. On my next visit I would love to try out their broad range of yoghurt drinks which include coconut, black berry and even passionfruit. Their ‘healthy’ Wraposas (toasted breaded samosa) sitting on the counter as you pay also looked very tempting. Overall, WrapChic was a refreshing experience, perfect for any adventurous foodie committed to try something weird and wonderful.

Have you tried a Currito?
A currito you say?
For those of you who haven't yet experienced the delights of Wrapchic in the North Western Arcade, what I affectionately term a currito, is a whole new take on fusion food, matching authentic Indian flavours with Mexican streetfood favourites.
Last week Wrapchic turned 1 year old, and if their growing popularity is anything to go by, they'll be around a lot longer than that! From lunchtime on Friday they hosted a birthday party where their loyal Facebook followers were able to have lunch for free.
I popped along around 1 and the whole place was packed, but no amount of queuing could put a downer on the event. Everyone waiting was served up a complimentary lassi, I went for a coconut and my friend had mango, both of which were gorgeous. When we got to the front, I had a burrito with Rajahstani chicken, mildly spiced and marinated in coriander and mint, alongside perfectly cooked basmati rice, salad and a yoghurt and mint raita sauce. I wish I could meet the man whose idea it was to mix these two titans of cuisine together, as his invention is simply fantastic. The chicken was so tender, cooked to perfecion, and absolutely bursting with flavour. The portion size was huge, and really filling (though I did save room for some of Wrapchic's birthday cake), but the absolute best thing about Wrapchic is their strict no fry policy, meaning that their food is healthy as well as deliciously tasty.
Bang on!
