Hi I just wanted to say i love ur bad batch reader insert posts!!! Do you think you could do one of how they respond to the reader's body image issues? Thanks so much for your service 😭
Author's Note: I'm sorry this took as long as it did!! I hope you enjoy this!
Hunter: Will pick up on certain things. He gets a feel for what's bothering you when you don't respond to his compliments. It's only at particular times, and he'll finally decide to tentatively ask what's going on. He'll listen to whatever it is that you're insecure about patiently, but is right there with reassurance. He knows that words can only go so far, but now that he's aware, he can be more intentional about it. He's nurturing and supportive without coddling.
Wrecker: Is in absolute disbelief when you tell him about your insecurities. He's rather comfortable with himself and loves who he is despite things that others have taunted him for, and he adores you. He chuckles warmly after your confession and assures you that you're absolutely beautiful. He doesn't want to undermine your feelings in any way, but hearing his chuckle, knowing that something that seemed so major to you wasn't that big of a deal to him helped.
Tech: Can't quite understand at first. You are loved by the Bad Batch, and you have his love, so why were you struggling with it? He comes to understand when you explain, and his no-nonsense way of responding ends up being quite sweet and romantic. Tech is not one to fudge facts or skirt around the truth, so his compliments and assurances are genuine and straight from the heart.
Echo: If anyone could grasp body image issues, it's him. In front of others, he took his own changes in stride... but every now and then, he'd let you in on the truth that deep down it is still a struggle. What he can't grasp is why you feel the way you do when you are so absolutely gorgeous and make him feel like the luckiest guy in the galaxy. He lets you know on the daily just in case you weren't sure.
Crosshair: He listens in silence as you tell him your insecurity. When you've told him, he pauses for a few seconds and utters, "you done?" He'll tell you straightaway what he thinks, that you are beautiful and how you make him feel like he has to protect you. He's not one for words, but he continues to let you know in his own way how important you are to him with gestures of affection.
Author's note: This one goes out to the Wrecker girlies!!! And anyone else who could use some Wrecker content.
You clutched the folded-up cloth tighter in your hand, waiting at the bottom of the steps for a certain Bad Batcher to come walking by after dinner. As you waited, you were granted the soothing pleasure of watching the sky turn all sorts of vibrant shades as the sun began to dip below the horizon. The air was still warm: the evening chill hadn’t begun to set yet. You leaned over the stone wall to peer down at how the ocean shone with reflections of the sky.
With the return of Crosshair, and the whole squad safe and sound- not to mention happy- Pabu was starting to feel like home to you. The peaceful days that passed were precious to you. You treasured each moment you spent with the squad, and it shed a new light on a particular someone.
Afternoons were spent sitting side-by-side on the docks with him, fishing in the sun. You both helped out with different projects around the community, and when you did take breaks, you took them together. Sometimes the two of you would dig into a picnic basket that you’d packed for lunch, or take a dip in the crystal waters, or just sit in the sand talking and joking around.
You found yourself hardly anywhere but at his side, and him at yours. It felt like the most natural thing in the world. Wrecker always had a warmth about him that you liked. You always thought he was handsome, and you couldn’t deny that you felt your face heat up and heart pound anytime he was near… But there was hardly time to explore that. The squad had been on the run for so long, and you were always worried about the dynamic that these feelings would bring to the team.
This time on Pabu gave you the chance to simply be with him. To exist together. To find out more about not only him, but yourself. It was all new to you. Life was simple there, happy, and for a short while you could forget about the insanity that had taken over the rest of the Galaxy. You could forget about the danger that the squad was truly in.
The familiar gaits of your squad were coming down the steps. You turned around, keeping the folded item behind your back. Hunter, Crosshair, Wrecker and Omega were making their descent, all with smiles on their faces after a filling dinner. Hunter paused in front of you first, giving you a curious look.
“You good?” he asked. To be fair, you had left dinner early. You’d mustered up the courage to grab the gift from your quarters and wait for the opportunity to give it to its intended recipient.
“Yeah, thank you.”
Crosshair chewed on a toothpick, passing by you with a simple nod in your direction. It was brief but sincere. Omega was at his heels with Wrecker beside her, and the two of them beamed when they saw you.
“Hey, ______,” she greeted.
“Hey! Missed you at dinner!” Wrecker said. He gave you a nudge. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah…Actually, could I have a moment with you?”
“You can have as many as you’d like!” he chuckled. Omega already knew about the gift, since you’d given her one not too long ago. She gave you a knowing look, waving at you both kindly, as she continued on her way to catch up with Hunter and Crosshair.
“What’s up?” Wrecker asked
You hesitated, suddenly feeling shy as you had his full attention. “I got you something. I don’t know, it might be a little silly…but, here.” You held out the item, embarrassment and excitement wrestling inside you. Wrecker unfolded and held it up to get a better look.
“Aww, it’s Lula!” he exclaimed, turning the shirt around. “How-? Where’d you get this?”
“There’s a shop on the lower levels that prints designs on T-shirts,” you explained happily. “Omega and I drew one up for you. She had one made that was similar.”
Wrecker grinned at you. “It’s the best shirt ever!” He moved forward to wrap his arms around you, giving you a tight squeeze that made you laugh. “Thank you!” You wrapped your arms around his neck and hugged him back, so relieved that he liked the present. It felt like he might never let you go, but then the embrace did come to an end. You felt his cheek brush against yours briefly as he carefully put you back down. “So, uh, what’s the occasion?”
He looked a little nervous, like perhaps he had forgotten an important day.
“It’s just because,” you said. “I appreciate your friendship. You’re so fun, and thoughtful, and I really like our talks.”
His eyes softened as he listened to your words, regarding you with a tenderness that you saw in him often. Wrecker gave a quiet chuckle. “I like spending time with you too,” he said. It appeared as if he wanted to say more, but no words came. He simply gazed back at you in this way, and you found yourself unsure of what to say next.
“Uh, anyway…” You ran a hand over the stone railing beside you idly. “I have some errands to run before dark. I’ll see you around.”
“Need any help?”
You shook your head, smiling in appreciation of his offer. “It’s alright, nothing major. Thank you though, Wreck.”
“Sure, sure.” He rubbed the back of his neck and watched you take the next stairway towards the market.
Wrecker looked back down at the shirt after you left, running his thumbs over the soft material. He couldn’t wait to wear it the next time the two of you hung out. He headed back to where his squad had gone, finding just Hunter and Crosshair seated in a common area with a bonfire going. Omega appeared to have already gone to bed for the night.
Crosshair was the first to notice what was in Wrecker’s hand. “What’s that? A gift?” There was no mistaking the subtle teasing in his tone.
“Uh, yeah.” Wrecker took a seat. “She got one for Omega too.”
“That doesn’t negate the fact,” Hunter said with the hint of a smile.
Wrecker looked at him. “What fact?”
“The fact that the girl is crazy for you,” Crosshair replied with the roll of his eyes, irritated that his brother was obviously feigning obliviousness. He wasn’t about to let his sibling off that easily. “And you are for her. So, what’s the hold up?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Wrecker grumbled, folding his arms in a stubborn sort of gesture. “There’s no hold up.”
Hunter and Crosshair exchanged looks, both raising a brow, but said no more on the matter. Wrecker leaned back to watch the bonfire while these things went through his mind.
Of course he felt that way about you. Of course he’d wanted to bring it up for ages, but it never seemed to be quite the right time, so he just carried on as usual.
(The Bad Batch) Preferences- You Tell Him He Makes You Feel Safe
Wrecker: His broad chest would puff out as he grins, but on the inside, he would melt at your words. The macho act would last for about two seconds before you can count on him getting all soft. It would really mean a lot to Wrecker, and he’d show it by pulling you close to gaze down at you with tender eyes, giving you delicate kisses that quickly got more intense.
Hunter: He can already tell you feel safe with him. He notices the little things, how you let your guard down a little around him because you know he’ll protect you. Even so, hearing you tell him that he makes you feel safe will do something to him. Hunter would give you one of those rare smiles, brow raised, as he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you closer, saying, ”yeah?” Expect some heated kisses.
Tech: He wasn’t entirely sure why, but the statement makes him feel so very manly. He’d subconsciously puff out his chest a little as he walks over to stand directly in front of you. The whole squad was composed of individuals that were strong and skilled, but you telling him he made you feel safe? Him specifically? It made Tech feel special. He’d smile and lean in to kiss you right then and there, whispering that he would keep you safe.
Echo: This man would definitely melt at your statement. He’d be putty. If he was in a particularly grumpy mood because of the squad’s antics, and you caught him off-guard with that, the things that made him gruff would be quickly forgotten. Your statement would make Echo feel like a man. Not just any man, but the man. Be ready for some kisses the first moment you had alone.
Crosshair: He’s a man of few words, so he takes them seriously. If you told him that you felt safe with him, that would basically be the equivalent of an “I love you” in his book. It would mean a lot to him, and he might not know how to respond verbally right away, but Crosshair would definitely show you what it meant to him with kisses. Just a warning: if you dropped this statement in the middle of a kiss session, he would go feral.
(“Regs” and The Bad Batch) What They Call Their SO
(OC Request: Hey, Rainy!!! 💖 I was wondering, could you pleease do some HCs/whatever of nicknames the "regs" and Bad Batchers would use for their lovely ladies?)
“Regs”
Rex: In the beginning he is rigid and doesn’t call you anything but your name out of fear he’ll accidentally let it slip in front of someone else. Eventually he warms up to the idea and starts calling you sweet things like “darling” or “love” when you’re alone.
Cody: He’d have a few up his sleeve, usually something specific to you. (ex. “My brown eyed girl” if you have brown eyes, or “blondie” if you’re blonde, etc.). Although sometimes he’ll simply call you “beautiful.”
Fives: He LOVES terms of endearment both for himself and for his SO. He uses a few classics like “baby” and “babe” or sometimes “gorgeous.” When he’s in a particularly good mood, he’ll call you “my one and only.”
Wolffe: He thinks of one that suits you and sticks with it, usually saving it for rare occasions and also when he’s in a very good mood or is worried for your safety. Something surprisingly tender like “flower” or “sweetheart.”
Howzer (because why not?): He likes classically romantic names like “my dear.” On rare occasions when he’s feeling more relaxed, he’ll call you “babe.” One time he tried “baby” and it sounded so strange coming from him that you both cringed, but then you laughed it off.
Bad Batch
Hunter: He has a few, each for different moods. When he’s feeling particularly affectionate, he’ll call you something romantic like “star.” Other times when he’s addressing you more casually in private, he’ll call you “sweetheart.”
Crosshair: Doesn’t use terms often, but when he does, he calls you “mine.” Sometimes he’ll use variations with that attached, like “darling mine.”
Echo: He’s a gentleman and will call you “milady” when others are around, but when you’re alone he likes to use something more intimate like “lover.”
Tech: He is quite into terms of endearment and definitely goes for the romantic ones like “love” and “dear.” He’ll sprinkle them into conversations every now and then, though isn’t super excessive- just enough to make it special.
Wrecker: He definitely uses ones like “cutie” or “sweetie” pretty often. When he’s in a more romantic mood, he’ll throw in a “beautiful girl.”
(The Bad Batch) Preferences: How They Feel About Affection
(OG Request: Request for how bad batch would try to be sneaky for sexy time while with their significant other?
Heyo! I keep my blog SFW, but I have to say that I do like exploring the idea of the guy's attempts to be discreet about affection in general and kissy kissy, so I made preferences to kind of cover that.
Thank you for the request!
Hunter: Feels he has to set somewhat of an example of professionality, so he is extra careful about that sort of thing. Definitely does not want his squad to catch their sergeant in the middle of a kiss session. Wrecker for sure wouldn’t refrain from some jokes about it, so Hunter prefers to be discreet. He shows affection with his eyes, often shooting you a loving gaze or meeting your eyes to roll his playfully when the squad is acting up. He saves kisses and embraces for when you’re alone, usually when the others are off the ship or asleep.
Crosshair: He is super private about these matters. The thought of anyone catching him is mortifying, so he is extra careful about engaging you in kisses. He isn’t overly affectionate in general when in front of the others. He hovers; close enough to protect you and let you know he’s there, but far enough to avoid a lot of suspicion. When it comes to kisses, he likes to save them for when the others for sure won’t bother you, when they’re off the ship or sleeping. You know he’s having a bad day if he pulls you aside to a secluded part of the ship for some kisses even when the others are around- sometimes he just needs you that much.
Wrecker: This man has many strengths, but subtlety is not one. He tries to keep things on the down-low; however, it definitely doesn’t always play out that way. He’s a very affectionate person. We see him on screen playfully punching or wrestling his squad quite often, and with a significant other, it’d be difficult for him to not hold their hand, give them affectionate nudges, or wrap them up in hugs often. He does try to refrain from kissing until you’re alone, but he forgets and let’s it slip sometimes. He gets a little too caught up in the moment if he’s happy to see you or is relieved you’re safe after a mission.
Tech: Contact with you in front of the others is minimal, though not exactly nonexistent. It’s the small gestures; placing a hand on the small of your back as he squeezes past you from behind on the ship, touching shoulders when sitting next to each other, or other little things like brushing your hair from your eyes or adjusting your gear before a mission. With so many people aboard one ship, he expects things to happen. He expects at some point the two of you would get caught in a kiss session, so he doesn’t get too flustered about it; though he still tries his best to be discreet.
Echo: He strives to be discreet. Part of it is just him being a gentleman, and the other part is his insecurities. He doesn’t want his relationship to be on display, some sort of oddity for others to gawk at, considering what he’s been through and his change in appearance. The squad would definitely be respectful (aside from Wrecker’s good-natured teasing), but Echo still feels like he’d rather keep things private. He is quietly affectionate, sometimes taking your hand and looking into your eyes. When it comes to kisses, he won’t do it in a common area where anyone could walk up at any point, but he doesn’t mind pulling you aside if the others are preoccupied.
(The Bad Batch + Rex) How He’d React to a Survivalist SO
(Author’s Note: Totally inspired by @kamino-mermaid !!!
Hope you enjoy!)
Rex: This man’s respect for you is already up there, but it grows even more when he discovers you know what to do in a survival scenario. He has basic knowledge and skills about situations should he ever end up in one, just like any soldier, but the next step almost seems to come naturally to you. He’ll watch you in awe from behind his helmet as you gather materials for an effective shelter or drop random plant names and uses into conversations. He snaps out of it and offers up assistance in the most professional way, but when the two of you are alone he’ll ask more questions and compliment you away from prying eyes.
Hunter: He’d be pleasantly surprised when he found out. Cue him raising his brow whenever the two of you are in a rough situation and you jump right in with the knowledge of what to do. You’d told him that it was something you were into, yet he hadn’t been prepared to actually witness it. As a matter of fact, it makes him even more attracted to you. He has basic survival skills to prepare him for any scenario, but your level of knowledge impresses him. Hunter will ask you questions and absorb information you have to spare because he finds it extremely interesting and useful.
Crosshair: He’ll act like it’s no big deal, but he’s actually quite impressed. It becomes a favorite pastime of his to watch you organize your gear and tools for the next mission in case things get rough. Every now and then, he’ll ask a question about the gear and listen as you explain what it’s for because it’s genuinely interesting to him, and he wants to know more about your hobbies. He greatly appreciates that you know how to handle yourself in different situations, though he still doesn’t mind coming to your rescue.
Wrecker: He is absolutely amazed when you come forth with all this knowledge of survival. You can count on him asking you what random plants are and throwing different hypothetical scenarios at you because he’s just so fascinated. When it comes time to put your skills to use in the field, Wrecker loves watching you in action and will soak up any information in case he’s faced with a similar scenario. He will also shamelessly drop a brag every now and then about how smart his gal is.
Tech: He likes to be the guy with all the answers. Logically, he knows it’s impossible to have all the answers, but still. Upon realizing you have more extensive knowledge about survival in different situations, he’d want to read up about the subject to engage in discussions with you. If you have information that conflicts with his intel, you might butt heads a little, but in the end he has an open mind and doesn’t have a problem with admitting he’s wrong if he discovers it to be true. Tech will enjoy stepping back in survival scenarios and letting you take the lead with information for the team. He finds it very attractive watching you in your element.
Echo: He is impressed and not afraid to tell you right off the bat. He finds it very attractive that you can handle yourself in tough situations. Even so, he is always very attentive when you’re sharing information with the group. With how crazy things get travelling with the Bad Batch, Echo appreciates the concept of being prepared for whatever things you may face. It’s just another reason why he thinks you’re so smart and so beautiful.
OG Request: Can you do bad batch x pregnant reader...like how each one would react to a pregnant so?
Warnings: mentions of marriage and pregnancy
Hunter: When he first finds out that his wife is pregnant, his eyes go wide as he absorbs the information. Do not worry because this man is extremely happy. He’d wrap an arm around you and brush his nose against yours lovingly at the realization you were both parents..
During the pregnancy, he gets very protective. It’s not so much of him facing down other males, but more along the lines of him warning you about every little potentially dangerous situation. Sometimes it’s sweet, and other times it gets annoying. The two of you might end up bickering over what’s “safe enough” for you or not.
Despite this, he’s very attentive to your needs. He can be pretty patient when it comes to mood swings and will go get you whatever snacks you’re craving.
Tech: Little did you know that he started noticing the signs before you did and was the one to hand you a pregnancy test. You might even scoff at the sight of the test, but decide to indulge him anyway since he seemed rather insistent. Several minutes later, you emerge from the refresher looking pleasantly shocked. His suspicions are confirmed, but he is still very excited. He wraps his arms around you and lifts you off the ground in a spin. During the pregnancy, he is affectionate. If he can, he’ll hold your hand while analyzing and working on his datapad. He’ll stop and give you hugs whenever he has a minute to spare. He could be affectionate before, but during pregnancy it’s dialed up to eleven. He likes to be prepared and educated, so he spends a lot of time reading up on pregnancy/baby articles and talks about his finds a lot.
Echo: He is unbelievably happy when he finds out, eyes wide and mouth falling open in a gaping smile. He might ask you a few times if it’s really true because he’s just in happy disbelief. He’s so proud and would be excited to make the announcement. During the pregnancy, be ready for his protectiveness and affection to dial up. He’d be very particular about making sure you’re comfortable and not exerting yourself. Not to mention, he’s making sure you know over and over again how beautiful you are during the pregnancy and how much he loves you. He’s patient through any insecurities that may surface and pretty reassuring, though on occasion his nitpicking over safety may get old sometimes. Echo will for sure get you anything you crave and is very understanding when it comes to things like mood swings.
Wrecker: When you first tell him, even if it’s in a serious tone, he still might think you’re joking and chuckle. Even if the two of you were looking to start a family, the reality of it wouldn’t hit him for a while. When he finally realizes it’s true, he is ecstatic. There’s a certain awe in his gaze as he looks at you, and you can bet he’d be grinning ear-to-ear. During the pregnancy, he is a little more tender and careful with you. He is pretty attentive. He likes to eat a lot, so he is your snack buddy. He’s down to snack whenever you are, and most likely will be down to have whatever you’re craving with you- absolutely no judgement. Honestly, he just likes to see you happy, and whether that be food, cuddles, or whatever, he will do his best to get it for you.
Crosshair: When he first finds out, he is frozen in place with shock. His expression can be rather difficult to read as he processes the news, and his lack of enthusiasm may be unnerving for a bit. He might show disbelief at first, but once it finally sets in, he starts to show cautious excitement. His hesitance is the norm when it comes to most good things in his life- part of him is scared to become super invested right away in case it doesn’t last. The beginnings of your relationship were like this to a degree, him keeping an emotional distance at first until he got past some of his insecurities and realized you were in it for the long haul. When it finally clicks, he’s very happy. You see it in the little smiles he gives you when he sees your growing tummy, and the way he gives you adoring kisses when no one is looking. Crosshair is quite protective anyway, but he gets especially so during the pregnancy. He’s always hovering close by, keeping watch over you and the little one.
Hunter: Doesn't mind going, though he isn't entirely sure at first why you'd want him going along. When you say you want his opinion, and being a part of the Bad Batch doesn't mean you get to go often, he understands and is on board. He spends the beginning of the trip following and just watching you browse since you seemed to know what you were doing, giving his opinion only when asked. After he gets a feel for the kind of stuff you like, he'd start to branch out a bit and go find stuff to show you. Sometimes he's a little clueless about what matches or goes with what, but you appreciate the effort he puts into it, and he takes mental notes if you tell him a certain fabric won't work or you're not fond of a certain color. The trip is overall pleasant, and Hunter tells you he wouldn't mind going again.
Wrecker: Would be excited because it was a new experience. No one ever asked for his opinion on clothes before. He'd be pretty into it right from the start, offering up lots of suggestions and going "_________! What about this?" a lot. At first he may not quite get your taste, but after he gets a feel for what you prefer, he'd actually be the one to bring you some great finds. Wrecker would be enthusiastic and make loud compliments, making the other shoppers giggle at how cute the two of you were. He may or may not need reminders about the budget because he goes overboard with suggestions. At the end of the trip, he carries all your things like a gentleman and takes the opportunity to show off his strength. Make no mistake; he’d definitely want a fashion show after the trip to see how everything looked, and definitely wants you to bring him again another time.
Tech: He’d ask if you actually needed him to go along. It’s not that he doesn’t want to go. He wouldn’t mean any offense; he just has a list of other things that need to be done. You insist that his opinion really matters, and that would make him smile a bit. “I suppose I could use a break from all this anyway,” he’d say, pushing up his goggles. He doesn’t hesitate to make his thoughts known, and that is the same during this task. He’ll stay near to you but break away a bit to find a few things to present to you right. Tech almost always has reasons behind his choices. “I think this one would bring out your eyes” or “That one would complement your figure.” That being said, even though he has a lot to say, he believes that how you feel about the clothes is most important, and he only offers opinions to be helpful and not pushy. He lets you know that he wouldn’t mind going along again sometime.
Echo: He'd act a little gruff at first. Part of him feels like as a man and a soldier he has to act just a tiny bit grumpy about tagging along on a shopping trip (especially in front of the rest of the Bad Batch), but really it doesn't bother him. He'd follow you around, and you can count on him giving an honest opinion, though always in a nice way. He does have pretty good taste as far as what looks good on you. "What about this? This is nice." It would be kind of adorable to see how invested he'd get over the course of the trip. He also gets excited about finding nice stuff on sale. He nods his head in silent approval when all the discounts flash across the register screen. At the end of it, he'd go back to pretending to be a little grumpy, claiming the trip wasn't too horrible and that he'd go with you again.
Crosshair: It takes some convincing to get him to go at first. To him, standing in the middle of a clothes store would be a blow to his manly pride. Eventually, he’d realize that plenty of males do it, and he'd go. He'd follow you around closely at first, hovering but not super invested. Everything you asked him about, he'd shrug or seem indifferent, though on the inside it's only because he feels he doesn't know the first thing about clothes. Instead, he'd be watching the entrances and keeping a lookout for danger as you shopped. At some point, his attention would wander from his surroundings to you holding up an outfit in front of the mirror, and he'd quietly comment, "that would look nice on you." From there he'd give his opinion more often and openly, especially when it came to something he particularly liked. After the experience, he would be more comfortable and invested in the shopping trips to come.
