#writ101

Summer-school/Trimester three starts on Monday! I'm taking WRIT101 and MATH132 to help my baseline skills. WRIT101 will help me build the skills I need to write essays and research information, while MATH132 will get my math's up to scratch, plus since I dropped STAT193, I need it as a prerequisite. I went into Uni today and brought the WRIT101 workbook. Gahh I'm so happy to finally be back at Uni. It's only been a couple of weeks but man I love the structure it gives me.

Managed to finish all of the required illustrations last night. 15 yesterday in total. My brain is so burnt out... I ended up not sleeping that well after either because my mind kept going "You need to draw! You need to draw!" despite the fact I had already finished.

Began reading 'The Yellow Wall-Paper' by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

How do you see yourself as a writer in this present moment?

Writing at the present moment for me has been solely for the purpose of achieving and presenting a required piece of work through high school, with a few rare bits of narrative and prose work on the side. For me I see myself as a researching and questioning writer- one who enjoys asking questions I personally don’t know the answer to- and then answering it for both the audience and myself through the process of writing. Writing for me is both a way to express and educate myself. This, however, has solely been through writing required of me for a grade or course, and therefore has been done out of necessity and not necessarily willingness to write- which is something I’m hoping to change throughout this year. I am still a novice to university style writing- and no doubt my work has its many flaws- namely my inclination for massive run on sentences. The majority of these flaws come from inexperience and my own neurodivergence- I write the way I think, and thinking is often a constant stream of consciousness. I also often see myself as a pressured writer- I put a lot of weight onto my ability to write- since it was one of the only things I was ‘good’ at in high school. Hence I often get paralyzed with indecision and stress that this essay, this line, will be the writing that finally proves that I’m ‘bad’ at writing- and have been faking it the whole time. Whilst having your self worth ride off on a grade is always a bad idea, its often hard to stop- something I’m hoping to loosen up on or completely drop this year.

So, I have to write a 5 page personal narrative essay about either the loss of someone very important in my life or the importance of a place/ particular time in my life. And I have NO clue whats-so-ever what the hell to write about. Oh, and its due tomorrow! Yaay.
