Kid sounds like a really cool character!! I saw the post about how they talk, Im so curious to know more abt them. Is there some post on your blog abt them?
...You know, I should really do an official intro for Wild Type lmao, I don't think I have before. But I can just tell you about Kid here and now (:
Created under the designation SC-A-033 (Scout-Class Arboreal 033), Kid is 11 years old and has lived all that time in the basement of a government laboratory. His days consist mostly of tests on his memory, senses, and mobility, administered by the "white-coats" (what he calls researchers), along with the occasional medical test/surprise surgery. At night, he lives in a cell in an empty wing of the building. It used to hold more transductants like him when he was young, but they all went away one by one, so now it's just him. For company, he talks to a water bucket he's named Buck, as a sort of imaginary friend. Kid has never experienced life outside of the lab, so he sees nothing wrong with the conditions he lives in. He's very focused on doing well on his tests so that the white-coats trust him and don't use the prod (electeic cattle prod) on him anymore, as usually happens when he gets distracted, which isn’t an uncommon occurrence. In his head, he assigns the laboratory itself an almost deific status, with the power to control what happens within it. The white-coats are the most dear to the lab, and so they get to live in the heavenly breakrooms. He and the other transductants are made to be used by the white-coats, while vermin like rats (which he eats) are made to be used by transductants. Kid is very creative, he loves stories and tries to assign meaning to the things around him.
As for what's actually happening to him, Kid has no understanding of this, but he was built by the Republic as a perfect reconnaissance soldier, along with many other transductants being built for similarly military purposes. His echolocation and photographic memory make him a perfect scout. The tests he does are refining and quantifying these abilities. Because Kid is so good at what he does, he's been allowed to live, unlike many of the others original SC-A line.
As for what he looks like, he's a little bat boy! Here's some pictures <3
His skin is a wan brown, while his hair and eyes are black. (Ignore the NS in the full-body pic, I changed his designation around). His eyes and ears are very sensitive, and he can also see with echolocation. He much prefers to travel in arboreal environments through the branches, as his feet aren't really designed to walk, so they hurt if he's walking for too long. He can't really fly, but he can glide well enough to stay in the air for hours.
So yeah, that's my sweet little boy who also eats live rats! I do promise he'll get out of the lab someday <3
