I woke up and decided to watch last night's set from the band I was part of for a good portion of last year. They threw a cover (of a punk song without really changing anything) in the middle of the set... which is otherwise the same set that I played with them August and September... it's been 7 months guys. Add new stuff to your repertoire... apparently you have (a) new song(s) but I have yet to hear them. I watched Shrek the musical and heard another song from another "new musical" based on a movie... why do so many new musicals share certain melodic lines? It's starting to sound lazy to me. We all can't be LMM, ALW, Bernstein or Sondheim, but you could try to be different! I finished writing the first draft of the first act of BEOWULF: From the Mouth of the Skald during this past week. If you wish to be part of my proofreading/editing, shoot me a message and I'll send you a link. I'm working on the second act now. -This is a hard rock-metal styled musical. Idea came from my and everyone else's love of Hamilton as a groundbreaking hiphop history musical... why not have a heavy metal epic musical as well! -I do have a demo done for "Grendel", the battle sequence between Beowulf and Grendel (voiced by Jon of Seraph In Travail), if anybody wants to hear that as well. This session for classes has been rough. Almost every time I sit down to work on assignments, I have thoughts for the musical. It has gotten slightly better as it's gone along, but I do need to take a month off after this session before doing another to clear my head and get finish writing so it can breathe again before heavy editing and restructuring again. @moonlitserenades and I are seeing some of our students perform in Into The Woods today. So proud of them and excited to see the fruits of their long hard preparation. If you read this entire update: bless you!
