I know it's only the 11th but I may need to introduce WriteOrDie into the situation. I was trying not to but I think I'll keep falling behind if I don't catch up soon.

Write or Die 2 has basically saved my ass during so many Nanowrimo marathons it’s not even funny. This year I finally was able to pay the $20 to purchase the desktop version, and holy smokes, I am pleased.
For those of you that don’t know, Write or Die is a writing tool. It’s not a word processor, it’s just a tool. You plug in how long you want to write for (I do 15 minutes because that’s my attention span) and how many words you want to write in that space (I go 300-400 words depending on what I am writing, because I know that’s about my ability when I pretty much know what I’m doing). Then you get to start selecting options.
There are three basic modes: Reward, consequence, or stimulus. Reward mode gives you a rewards at intervals as you continue to write toward your goal. Consequence mode gives you undesirable consequences if you stop writing (it plays obnoxious noises or scary pictures until you start writing again). Stimulus mode gives you a pleasant writing environment that is removed when you stop.
Then you get added bonus features, like Kamikaze mode (where in the program will start deleting your words if you stop for too long) and typewriter mode (which deactivates your delete key(s) and ability to move your cursor from the end of the ‘document’ area so you can’t edit, only write).
Once you reach your goal amount, you can also choose what the program does; you can continue receiving your chosen reaction or you can stop it, and there’s also a “celebration” mode that I haven’t used but sounds fun.
The desktop version saves information about your writing for you. It saves what you’re writing in the program to a text file every few seconds so if you crash or something you don’t lose your words. It also tracks your progress! If you start new sessions every time, it will track the highest word count you got, how many victories you’ve achieved, average words per session, average words per minute, etc!
It’s a really neat program and buying it, I think, will continue to be worth it beyond just nanowrimo. Highly recommend trying it out free on the link at the top, and maybe helping the developer out by purchasing a full copy if you can!
I’m behind (of course), but here’s my author introduction for #nanothatwrimo! 👋 If we haven’t met, let me introduce myself. My name is Kelsie, and I’m a writer. It took me a long time to accept that about myself, but I’ve finally embraced it. I love to write stories of hope and heartbreak, and for me that encompasses both contemporary women’s fiction and fairy tale inspired fantasy. My current WIP is heavily inspired by my hometown of North Pole, Alaska—where we say it’s always winter but never Christmas. 😉🤣 ❄️ I have two kids, a 4 year old son and a 10.5 month old daughter. While I love them dearly, they are the best distraction to writing I’ve ever endured! ❄️ I’m a firm believer in writing every day—or at least editing and working on my writing in some way every single day, whether it’s adding words to the page or taking them away to make my writing stronger. ❄️ You can find me here on IG the most, or Twitter @KelsieEngen, or Facebook (@KelsieEngenAuthor). I also blog periodically on KelsieEngen.com and KelsieEngenAuthor.com (where you can also buy my debut women’s fiction novel, Spurn the Moon, directly from me!). You can also find my novel on Amazon, Kobo, and Apple Books. I have five short stories available as well, all available on Amazon if you search my name. ❄️ I’d love to connect with you. Drop a comment below and tell me a little about you and where to find you! ❤️ ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ #amwriting #writing #writethatnovel #author #authors #authorsofinstagram #igauthors #writeordie #writingcommunity #momswhowrite #fiction #justkeepwriting #keepwriting #writeeveryday #wip #workinprogress #novelinprogress #noveling #novel #shortstory #writingiswork #writerslife #nanowrimo #nano #nanothatwrimo #writer (at Fairbanks, Alaska) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpxQUIwn-CL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1hkyka7jdk1cy
