Writer's Resolutions 2026

As @nw39 tagged me in the post, I will try to drop a few resolutions for 2026! I already did a bit of a wrap up of my year on AO3 with a recent post so I'll just summarise the rest of it with this:

I am forever grateful for all the friends I have made in this fandom, the wonderful times we have shared, the fun and joy and creativity and support and care and... And the everything that I continue to find with so many of you. It's truly wonderful.

I'm also going to keep my resolutions simple and achievable:

Minimum 100 words per day to keep that TrackBear streak going, and to keep writing moving even when I'm busy or not feeling too inspired. Just a little. Just 10 minutes. Whatever it is, something each day that helps me feel accomplished.

I *WILL* get back to the prequel longfic, minimum one chapter per month, hopefully more as I would like to finish it.

Take on less events. I did too many zines and events and things last year and it ended up snowballing and leaving me feeling overwhelmed at times.

Read and comment on more fics because there are a lot of amazing writers out there.

Maybe take a bit more of a dip into ideas for Hades2 and other fandoms that interest me.

Make time to post more full works over here.

Write. The. Fucking. Original. Novel!

No more posting partial one shots. Finish first, use beta readers if feedback is needed to help push it forward.

Let's see if trying ADHD medication will be helpful...?

New Year’s Resolutions 🌙

Rules: Post 6 (or more) fandom New Years Resolutions for 2026 and then tag at least 6 friends.

Write a 100k+ word fic. (I’m close with Crashtos theater au, but I’d like to write another long fic.)

Write an x reader series for multiple characters I love (currently have brainstormed ideas for Jack Abbot, Samira Mohan, and Clark Kent, we’ll see if I actually bring those ideas to fruition!)

Collaborate with other writers to put together fic events (some exciting things happening for Clois are in the ideas stages already!)

Write a genre I’ve not attempted before (like sci fi, fantasy, thriller, or mystery.)

Get better about reading fics from writers I don’t know. (And get better at sharing others’ works!)

Get better about leaving comments and showing appreciation on everything I read.

New Year’s Resolutions

Since the beginning of December, I've been thinking of what writing resolutions I wanted to make in the coming year, but my future is a little uncertain at the moment. I'm still job hunting and have applied from everything from a supervisor job to overnight work to overseas work, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have to devote to writing. That being said, I really want to finish my novella-in-verse this year, as well as complete a few other projects that involve more editing and planning and less actual writing. “Write everyday” is of course not my speed, and even “do something writing related everyday” can be difficult, so I’ve settled on weekly goals instead.

Every week, I will:

Plan something: This can be outlining a scene or chapter, or hammering out some world building for the alternate-history fantasy mystery (AHFM) WIP.

Write something: At the start of the year, this will be either a scene or chapter of the novella-in-verse or a blog post. Once the novella is finished, I want to try my hand at a short story idea that’s been floating around in my head. I'm shooting for writing at least two scenes or blog posts per week.

Edit or research something: I combined these because I feel that one is more time sensitive and the other is more time consuming. That is, I won't have something to edit every week, so during those times I'll research something for my AHFM WIP.

Picture something: i.e. make a picture, either book photos for my Instagram or quote pictures from my books. Essentially, create something for social media.

There are fifty-two weeks in a year, and fifty-two weeks of outlined scenes, prepped blog posts, written poems, researched topics, and spiffified photos is a decently large but doable goal. Plus, this allows me wiggle room for days that I’m feeling under the weather and don’t want to do anything or, conversely, am feeling super productive.

To give you all a glimpse of my madness method, and to keep myself honest, I’ll post my weekly progress on here and on Twitter and Instagram. I’m also going to chart what I’ve done in a planner, so I can look back and see how far I’ve come. I have a lot of big plans for this coming year, but I’m going to tackle them one week at a time!

2017 Resolutions

Alright, so 2016 was a bit rougher of a year than I had planned on it being. Mostly because I planned on doing so many big things at once and hadn’t been realistic about how much I could really handle at one time. I did manage to marry my best friend, thank goodness.
