Self-Portrait (2)
By Ryan Jones
Autumn is proof that even in death,
there’s beauty.
The torment of colors controls my life.
Will the saint in my heart be defeated by the
sinner in my mind?
It’s not easy being a cloud, floating...
from
place-to-place.
Am I blue?
Will my melancholy consume me,
Or
Will it consume the ones who love
Me?
Will God let me in Her kingdom?
I pray, I pray, I pray.
Am I yellow?
I feel the pain of Frida.
I feel the confusion of Vincent.
I feel the burden of myself.
Autumn is proof that even in death,
there’s beauty.
