letting go is harder when everything reminds me of her—
the slender curvature of her fingers, or
the way her pink blushing glow lights up her face, or
her big big big brown eyes.
i’ll hear a song and want to send it to her in the mail.
i was thinking about her the other night
not just her, but how much i want her.
i want to hold her hand and kiss her lips
and the slow aching is destroying me.
and when this is over,
this,
we’ll pretend like nothing happened.
i will live in my head and imagine that she is still wise and i am still naive.
no college. no graduation. no disappointment, no tears.
i’ll imagine how it used to feel
to hold her hands
and to hug her, feel her warmth
how it used to feel
to rest on her shoulder
waiting ever so patiently for something to go wrong.
Writing fanfiction is just as good as writing to a prompt.
Both help you exercise your brain muscle, expand your horizons, take different perspectives and practice how to use literary devices effectively.
