Cold Hands: ShigarakixReader: PT1
It was winter in Japan. All along the sidewalk, people were wrapped up in layers of thick and warm clothing. Well, most people. Shigaraki only had a frayed hoodie protecting him from the weather and the cold was starting to seep into his fingers. He shoved them into the pockets of his pants, hands balling into fists. He had failed miserably with a scheme. Thankfully, he could still fix it. But for now, he and the League of Villains had to lay low and wait for the dust to settle.
Funnily enough, he was currently waiting on a bus platform for the 8 o’ clock morning ride. He hated public transport, it made his skin crawl. But he reluctantly accepted buses as a necessity in his life. It was also the lesser of two evils. Trains were so much worse. Lucky for him, the district he stayed at wasn’t very populated and so, there were only a couple of people on the bus platform. He scratched behind his ears, foot tapping with annoyance, the bus was a couple of minutes late.
As soon as the thought formed in his mind, the bus appeared and rounded a corner further down the road before eventually rolling to a stop next to the platform. Shigaraki watched the riff raff climb onboard, he wanted to be the last to get on. Mainly because he didn’t want to be anywhere near another body.
“Wait, wait! Wait! Hold the bus!”
The panicky high pitched scream shook him out of his thoughts. He watched a girl skid on the pavement pockmarked with tiny pools of ice that formed within the cracks of the brick pattern. His eyes widened for a moment as he realized that she was about to crash into him - but he managed to dodge the human missile at the last second.
His facial expression slackened once more and he lazily watched her get up from the floor. She immediately stood up and attempted to look at the back of her legs. But it’s hard to get a good angle at one’s own backside and she tutted at herself.
She dusted herself off, looked around and saw that the bus wasn’t even moving. “Oh all that rushing and screaming for nothing,” a small defeated laugh escaped her lips. She then noticed Shigaraki standing off to the side. “Hm, wait did I?” she vaguely pointed towards the area she had been careening towards and back to the man who was standing particularly close to said area. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I was in a hurry and I didn’t-”

I want to love someone else so the memories of you don’t sting so badly
But I can’t
I can find people attractive but no one is you
No one smiles like you
Laughs like you
Twirls their hair like you
Gets angry like you
Gets sad like you
Loves like you
Kisses like you
Fucks like you
Thinks like you
Speaks like you
No one eats my heart out with a more deliciously complicated beauty than you
I just still want it to be you
Just a drabble thing
So, even though I have a million things to write, I'm interested in trying to do a drabble a day. It feels like a good way to keep my brain flowing and to provide content. So if you have a request feel free to send it and if not I'll make something up.
Quick Tips for Writing Regularly
(whether this applies to writing with mental illness is debatable and will be addressed in a separate post)
Alright, writers of Tumblr, let’s get something straight: y’all don’t write enough. Unless you’re physically are unable to or you really, truly, do not have time, there is no excuse not to write. Tough, but true. Now, I’m not saying you have to write every day, or that you need to write a lot, but you do need to write regularly, and not feeling like it is not a good enough reason not to try. Everyone has time to write. You could be writing right now. The fact is, the longer you put something off for the less likely you are to do it, and the less you will want to. Every time you make up an excuse not write, you’re validating that excuse. You made it valid so now you will keep using it.
This is a dangerous practice, so I’m here to offer a bit of advice on how to create a manageable writing schedule that isn’t too much pressure but also doesn’t condone procrastination.
In my humble opinion, the easiest way to write regularly is to set goals. I recommend weekly goals since they can be flexible while still maintaining a sense of urgency. This doesn’t necessarily mean word goals since those can be stressful and confining, but other, more adaptable measurements that can be adjusted as you go based on your mood and mental state. I like to set a weekly scene goal, where I have to write a minimum number of scenes a week. This is great for non-linear writers or writers working on several projects simultaneously because scene length varies, so you can write short scenes when you feel drained or uninspired and long scenes when you’re more motivated. Setting a goal based on the number of writing sessions you want to have also works. You could aim to have three writing sessions per week, with a minimum of 100 words for each, and if you achieve it then that’s a guaranteed 300 words of progress every week.
You can also try varying what you write. If you’re out of ideas for your original work, write fanfiction. If finding ideas and filling plot-holes for your stories is stressing you out, start a blog. Write advice, essays, keep a journal - do anything to make sure you are still putting pen to paper (or fingers to the keyboard) enough to not get rusty. You don’t have to stick to one project if you don’t want to. Don’t use your lack of motivation for one story prevent you from developing healthy, sustainable writing habits.
The point of this post isn’t to attack people who do not write as often as they could, but to help them find a way to change that. Writing isn’t the problem, nor is motivation or time. Everyone loses motivation. Everyone feels like they’re pushed for time. The point is that you need to force your butt into that chair or you will not get anything done.
