Growing up with a disability, I used to get teased and bullied a lot. Even though I was surrounded by a lot of love, or maybe because of it, I didn’t understand how to express my pain. How do you tell those who love you, that you were crying because of the words of those who don’t? How could I tell my dad, who worked two jobs to rebuild a life in Canada, that I hated my own? How could I tell my family, that was hurting, about my pain? . ✍️ Writing has helped me in so many ways. I began to journal, to write down my fears, my powerless moments, my dreams and my joys. As I began to write, I learned things about myself and others. Writing makes you self-reflective, and in those reflections, you begin to not only see your scars, but those of others as well. . I wish I could say that writing has saved me, and I that I am 💯 percent over my past; but that would be a lie. However, the other thing writing taught me, is that everything is a process and a journey. To create the story of your life, sometimes you have to be open to rewriting the truths you think you know. P.S. sorry I have been awol for a while.
