9/4/2015 Dragonfriend Marc Secchia 3/5 Stars I received a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. Let me just say, this book has amazing potential. It has a fantastic story line, amazingly well-rounded characters, a beautiful new world, and DRAGONS! I tried so hard to love this book, I truly did, but one thing got in the way, one huge thing. The lack of description. Some flaws in a book can be easily overlooked, easily forgiven. But the amount of description that was left out killed this book for me. I could not follow what was happening most of the time because the author tells the story strictly through dialogue and the main character's current emotions. There are few landscape and surrounding descriptions, bare to none character descriptions, and almost zero imagery. It makes the story telling muddled, and confusing. I think that this story may have even earned a perfect rating if only the description had not been left out, it has that much potential. My hopes are that a publishing company finds the potential in this author's story and, with the help of an editor, turns this book around. Until then, I will be patiently waiting for the next installment, because despite its flaws, I have fallen in love with its world and characters. - Writings of a Walrus
