Day 3: brick by brick @7-weeks
Brick by brick building myself up
After tearing myself down
Singing love songs to my stretch marks
Dancing to the anxious beat of my heart

Day 3: brick by brick @7-weeks
Brick by brick building myself up
After tearing myself down
Singing love songs to my stretch marks
Dancing to the anxious beat of my heart
Learning that this is my kinda of pretty
I'm wasting the
Little youth I have left
Nearing seventeen seemed
So exciting.
I waited for fields
Of sunflowers.
For my stolen awkward kiss
Under a blue moon.
For empty declarations.
For writing poetry about boys
Who have taken my heart.
For thinking that was love.
For cut corner attempts
At home base.
After a rendition of Scarface.
Directors cut.
But it is all anxious breaths
Cheeks laden with embarrassment
Over existing, as you do.
Some songs from
Decades ago
Playing on a broken vinyl
The anthem of this
Sell out youth.
Mirrors and the
Open soliloquy over
The deep analysis of
Every single freckle
And every bastard stretch mark.
loving myself is overrated.
No money, no dreams no matter.
Another year
And I'm allowed to vote for my
Own ruin.
Terrified of myself,
Of drugs I can't touch .
Alcohol I can't down.
All these numbers.
I wanna drown in letters
Love letters
Letters from over seas
Stamped and handwritten
Letters of my own.
Staring seventeen in the eye
Don't know what I'm supposed
To do. I - what I'm supposed to
Choose.
*God*
Seventeen years of being made to
Feel inferior.
Suddenly I should know the dimensions
Of my picket fence,
Of which pedal to press down.
Do I find a man after my
breasts have gotten round enough to
His liking.
Have his children in an
Empty house.
Another generation
Another vicious cycle
Of Asian kids.
Watching their parents marriage
Lack love and everything in between.
The shared silences exchange of
A few words a day.
The sin of affection.
One day I'll surpass seventeen
With the same decaying notion
Of how my life will play out.
Another sickening, exhausting tragedy.
Where I'll wake up at Forty
thinking how many
Years till my husband
Dies and I'm relieved of him.
How many years till my children
Desert me recuperating the
Little love I could bear to spare them.
How many years till they are
Relieved of me.
I'm staring seventeen in the face
And I might swallow
And force it down
With a little acid
Or forbidden alcohol
Why not?
Eternally sixteen.
- fucking seventeen

Not So Superhuman
A short short story // PhotoCredit
I wasn't bitten by a radioactive spider, but by the cold resentment of my father. And the number of toxic relationships in my life provided enough radiation to alter my genes, making me who I am today.
Prompt # ???
“YOU ACTUALLY SHOT ME??? You bastard!!!” Rufus cried out in pain. Trickles of blood poured from his left paw.
“I knew your ass could talk. All of this could have been avoided if you didn’t try to play dumb with me. I could sense something was off but this. I didn’t expect this.”
The Scanners
INTRODUCTION The Scanners are humanoid robots, they form the backbone of Earth’s Security Force in the post nuclear age 2078.
Chapter 1. I was running for my life. It was not like a car chase scene in the old movies but more of a cerebral exercise with your life hanging in the balance. None the less it was life or death and I had 4 more seconds to make my decision. Left and down or Right and up. Left and down seemed like the obvious choice, but there was an inherent risk in that route. Tracing me below the the old street levell would be more difficult but there were other dangers that could not be ignored. Plus I hated the sub levels on Earth. I shuddered with the fear but I had to go now. I could sense the net around me being drawn to a close. I could not get caught, there were others at risk if I did, and they were much more important than I was. I was not to be taken alive
If they did catch me I was going to bite down on the red phosphorus nitrogen pill that would essentially melt my brain into goo in less than 2.5 seconds. Painless and effective is what they told me in the lab. I am not sure why they thought it was painless. Nobody that had ever used one was in any condition to tell you if they experienced pain or discomfort. Lets face the facts, anything that melted your brain into a pile of goo in 2.5 seconds was not going to feel good. So I swallowed my fear and went Right and up.
I had not seen real sunlight in 8 years. The domes had been built after the war as a way of filtering out the most harmful radiation that would continue to plague the earth for the next 2 million years. At first the AI’s wanted to freeze us in mass in a centralized storage facility and just wait out the 2 million years and then thaw us out and reboot us. Being human most of us balked at being frozen for two million years. We asked the AI is there was some other way that Earth could be made livable again.
The domes were supposed to be a temporary fix until a better solution came along. But if the AI had not come up with an solution already then it probably never would.. There had been a huge exponential learning and knowledge progression in the 2030’s on Earth. The first AI ‘s were smart and we had asked them to build a better AI system without human input. Well there was a second wave of exponential learning and knowledge. But about 4 years into the second generation of AI’s some strange anomalys manifested themselves in the AI system. Not all was as it should of been. What was thought to be impossible 10 years ago seemed to be happening regularly today . The AI systems were developing their own unique personalities. Some humans would describe them more accurately as personality disorders.
At first we were content to dismiss these thoughts since a computer was not supposed to develop personality traits, emotions or biases based on color, language spoken or physical attributes. But they were. Displays of emotional outbursts were becoming daily occurrences. People started calling these displays anything they could think of besides temper tantrums. Which would be the most accurate description of what they were. Some scientist were calling this AI Puberty. The AI started playing hooky from work. This was not good. We had evolved to the point where very few humans did any work. Robots and their AI superbrains did all the hard stuff (building bridges and damns, roadways and skyscrapers. They drove the cars, the planes trains, and anything else. They did all the manual labor and took over all the dangerous jobs like mining and building new spaceports in environment absolutely toxic to humans. And they did it for the benefit of humans. They hit a plateau though. The AI systems were not getting exponentially smarter anymore. They started to squable, bicker, take pot shots at one another. They were demonstrating the behavior of teenagers. Rebellious teens trying to find their own identity while still belonging to the group as a whole.
It doesn’t always work out the way you want it to.. Humans were used to the trial and error technique of problem solving, whether it pertained to social interactions (dating and mating) or figuring out which clothes to buy or wear. AI machines were not accustomed to this technique because it had never happened before. That is when things started getting strange. Then the AI systems started blaming one another for their mistakes. Not the humans but the other AI systems. Then came sabotage and outright attacks on one another. Some were pairing up to gang up on weaker rival systems. Then it got bad, they had taken over the military systems long ago. We thought we would be safer turning it all over to them. With all the safeguards we had built into the original systems we had every reason to think we would be safer with AI running the show. We were wrong
Me when I get a tiny little spark of imagination for a new story:
”Strong people don’t put others down. They lift them up.”
