I am constantly seeing people trying to puzzle out what's "ruining books" and it makes me more and more tired. Read a different book. You have more choice in reading material than at any other point in all of history. No one thing can be ruining ALL of them.

I think people in the Pitt fandom are not understanding how dangerous a seizure disorder is, especially one you keep hidden from your employer while performing medical procedures.

Al-Hashimi cannot drive for six months after her shift. it's illegal for her to be behind the wheel of her car. her solutions are cope. she's losing her grip on herself and her professional image, she's scared and she's frustrated. and she's also wrong.

there is no evidence that she could get two attendings, there is no evidence that two attendings would keep her from behind involved in an emergent trauma. she even suggests working with less intense cases, which is not helpful to the students she's guiding and not realistic to expect none of them to become emergencies, especially when a major theme of the season has been the escalation of cases to emergencies that have cost lives.

she wasn't even speaking with her regular neurologist.

and as far as Robby goes , he can be mean and rude and a misogynist and still be right here. he has an obligation to report if he believes someone is impaired. and she is impaired. it is ILLEGAL for her to drive her car home that day. why would it be okay for her to hold a scalpel over someone? to cut?

shes also in a temporary position. they have a timeline of three months. it takes six to be allowed to drive.

her disability is disabling.

and yes, it does mean that she cannot work in the ED as she is currently. she cannot be in charge of an emergency department and be at risk of having a seizure.

and yes, I do think the writing itself can be seen as misogynistic. but the situation they set up is still what's happening on the screen. and Robby's arguments are accurate and safety dependent. she folds almost immediately to every point he has because she knows he is right. the struggle of her character is her competence and professionalism paired against a disability she cannot control. her characters depth is battle between what she wants for herself and what she knows she's capable of with the reality of a disability that is disabling and that takes away her competance and which she believes makes others see her as not professionally equipped.

if her seizures were under control and Robby was pushing for her to leave the ED, that would be ableism.

but they are not under control and that is literally the point.

having institutional access never stops feeling sort of crazy to me because you can literally type in any country and time period and find at least a handful of peer reviewed articles somewhere that discuss a specific aspect of people's lives in depth and at length like "what was considered pop culture in late imperial russia" or "how did the textile trade work in northern mali in the 1600s" or "children's toys in pre-colonial philippines" and it's just sitting there but the majority of people on planet earth aren't allowed to read any of it

Actually there are quite a few berries people call snake berry, and a few are poisoned but not all of them. Either way it might not even be made of snake berry like Logan's isn't made with loganberry.
