Oof, sorry if this is a lot for one ask but I'm listing my top three favorites. What Tradition Told you, Something Blue, and Sparks for #1 (What inspired you to write the fic this way?) and #5 (What part was hardest to write?) please!

I have told this secret to several friends, i.e. Something Blue. But now I’ll tell the secret to you all.

Spite and “EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAID IS WRONG”

I’m a horticulturist who still dreams of being able to finish my degree properly and be a botanist. I love plants. I love studying them and how they work. And before I wrote Something Blue, I kid you not, A DAY BEFORE I STARTED, I read a Bagginshield fic that claimed Bilbo’s (NORTHERN MOUNTAIN CLIMATE) garden had orchids.

Rage. Pure, unadulterated, /RAGE/ and SPITE and me literally SHOUTING OUT LOUD “THAT IS NOT HOW ORCHIDS WORK”. Something Blue was started purely from PlantScience!Nerd Rage.

I was also hella fucking annoyed because back then people kept making Dain a villain. Dain is not a villain. My characterization did not line up with what we got, but gawd, I was so FUCKING ANNOYED with people making Dain out to be some horrid monster.

WTTY was actually inspired by the American TV show “Sons of Anarchy”, from back in the first season, and inspired by my own life experiences of being a dumbass teenager playing around in a world I was too young for.

Sparks, though, was not my idea. FoxDragon very generously helped me out of a bad situation in Real Life, and the entire world-building of that universe is from their creative mind, not mine. I’ve been writing the Nori/Dwalin history based on their work and ideas.

I just read a thousand stars I wear AND THEY FIND OUT!!!! I'm so glad you did it from Sori's pov. I thought Dori would FAINT but I'm glad he didn't. By the way are you going to make Dori and Dain sort of related like what you did in What Tradition told you? Thank you for writing you're the best!

Dori and Dáin share a father in the What Tradition Told You ‘verse, so I’m not sure how well that work out in this one. It is a good question though.

So this is an excerpt from the What Tradition Told You ‘verse, as you asked!

3.) “Please, don’t leave.”

“Wait.”

Damn it, Gimli waits. He’s ready to storm out, and really, he should. He absolutely should. If he had any sense, he would never have let any of this start. He shouldn’t be here, in this too big house, dressed like this, like he’s one of them.

“Gimli, please,” Legolas says, reaching out for him. “Please, don’t leave.”

“I’m not going to stand in there and listen to that,” Gimli argues. “I’m not, not even for you.”

“I know,” Legolas starts, but Gimli cuts him off.

“No, Legolas, no you don’t. You don’t know anything about this. Look at you, look at your family. When is the last time you ever felt unwelcome anywhere -”

“Any time I’m around your family,” Legolas counters. He keeps on before Gimli can argue. “Fíli and Kíli and Ori are fine now, they’re used to me, but the rest of your family? Your parents? Your uncle?” And that’s not exactly untrue. Thorin tries to understand, and he mostly manages, but Gimli knows he still looks at Legolas and sees Thranduil’s son. “I’m sorry about what they said. Just don’t leave me here.”

Sometimes, Gimli looks at Legolas and realises just how deep he’s in. He never understood any of this until now, and he’s starting to think this isn’t just first love. His father, and everyone else, always told him that Durins love hard, sometimes too hard, and oh, this goes right down to the very marrow of his bones, he can feel it.

“I just need a minute,” Gimli concedes, pulling the soft carton of cigarettes out of his pocket.

Legolas pushes some of Gimli’s wild red hair back out of his face, and leans down the few inches needed to kiss Gimli, his fine hair brushing Gimli’s face. “I love you,” Legolas says. “And I’ll say something to them. I’m sorry.”

“Yeah,” Gimli says. “Love you, too.”

Hi March i wanted to ask if In the "Traditions" verse, was Legolas Gimli's first everything?

Nope. Gimli had fooled around plenty before. Legolas is the first person he’s fallen in love with though. (And the last because I will cut a bitch before anyone breaks up this ship)
