Conspiracy theory:

Netflix only made Wu Assassin so they can show that they'll be able to make a live action ATLA remake.

So my theory is that Netflix only really made Wu Assassin so that viewers can be reassured that Netflix won't have crappy CGI when it comes to the benders. You can tell that WA is influenced by ATLA and Lewis Tan (one of the actors from WA) confirms it in an interview stating that "the show is heavily influenced by Avatar the last airbender." And I think this because there has been no mention of a second season, however it hasn't been cancelled either.

Wu Assassin came out in 2019 with 10 episodes and there wasn't much of a hype.

They show has: Triad gangsters, Lewis Tan, elemental powers, a main character who get thrown into a world of magic and ends up bringing his friends in, complex deep characters, amazing character development arcs, magic, Lewis Tan, plot twists, did I mention Lewis Tan?(I love that man), and a strong story line.

Yet Netflix didn't advertise this original series as much as any of its other original shows. The show could have been big but there wasn't many interviews, PR/Social media marketing done for the show. Why?

I truly feel like they made the show as a way to show investors that they are able to make a live action ATLA and not have it flop like a certain movie. And now that they've got it in the pipeline I feel like WA will be a forgotten Netflix original that had so much potential to open up into so many storylines.

I don't know how to end this, I kinda just wanted to talk out into the void 😅
