It pisses me off that Billie Eilish is in The Bell Jar adaptation because Sylvia Plath was racist as hell. Even for the time she was considered EXTRA racist and antisemitic, and The Bell Jar reflects that.
If Billie Eilish was really the activist she and her fans say she is, she would have noticed the blatant racism and fatphobia in the book and refused to do the roll. It’s so obvious that I don’t even believe she read the book at all if she’s still supporting the adaptation, at least not with any intellectual intent behind it.
The Bell Jar is a White Feminist book that has no place being as popular as it is, and if Billie Eilish actually cared about anything she’s spoken out about she would know that. For someone who claims to be against ICE and to support Palestine, she obviously hasn’t done any research into the role she’s taken.
