WWDC13 thoughts
I’m not sure there’s anything that I can say that hasn’t already been said by people much smarter than I am. So, I’ll detail my, not so smart, thoughts about some of the revelations at WWDC13.
iOS 7 My first thought was “Wow, that’s bright, colorful, and kind of pretty.” It certainly grabs your attention. Have you looked at a Samsung’s phones home screen icons? Pretty bland looking. Have you seen their menus lately? Lots of dark colors and a bunch of black. It doesn’t look very inviting. Of course some of the icons are stock Android but Google hasn’t done anything to help Samsung or any other manufacturer visually differentiate its products. I’m looking forward to using iOS 7.
New Airs All day battery life. I’m not sure much else needs to be said.
Mac Pro Yes, I’d like to own one of the Death Stars servers please. It looks so cool and its guts are packed full of cutting edge toys. All external expansion will be something for current users to get used to but you should see some more accessories show up when they start shipping or shortly after.
I always enjoy watching Apple presentations. They do a great job of injecting emotion into everything they are doing and you can’t help but feel it sometimes. It’s one of those things that Apple does really well in their commercials and their customers “feel” it whether they know it or not. I’m already getting excited for the fall announcement.
A lot of work to do
iOS 7 is not like all previous. It’s not an evolution. It’s the unique opportunity for developers. The turning point.
If you’re the “IT guy” for your family, extended family, wife’s family, etc., Apple just ruined the end of your year. — Seth Clifford
I took a week off to watch all WWDC13 videos. Whole week only to realise what we can do with new iOS. It was my first WWDC and now I know that the keynote is only a tip of an iceberg. I had great moments of inspiration. I stopped playing StarCraft Ⅱ, I stopped visiting my family, I even rescheduled the date with my lovely girlfriend. I picked up dusty Moleskine from shelf and now I’m carrying it around all the time. I lost my sleep trying make some ideas to work.
When I’m imagining what opportunities we got — I feel weird good feeling in my stomach — like something big is coming. Enough of energy to work all this year. Now it’s our turn, dear fellows developers.
Macbook Air inquiry...
Anyone have one? I have the first Macbook Pro and it's nearing it's death. Was wondering how anyone felt about the Air? Looking to get the 13".
